Noticing the brick building with a 1899 marker on the top of the left side of the building and a 1923 marker on the other, we made a point to stop to check out the hardware store. We do appreciate functioning hardware stores housed in historic buildings. The hardware store is an Ace hardware. An actual operating hardware store. The Hewitt family has owned the shop since 1923. Pretty darn cool. The shop is filled with hardware items for the home and ranch. They carry typical Ace hardware inventory. Prices were actually competitive. I saw items priced cheaper than my local Ace Hardware in the Sacramento/Placerville area. As we walked about the historic building, we can see the interior where the older (pre 1923) and the newer (1923) building begins. Other than that, nothing historic inside..The interior was modern and clean with well organized inventory. Staff was welcoming. The young man even listened to Hubs stories of the oldest hardware store west of the Mississippi in Placerville, CA (est 1856) which is in our neck of the woods. We even stopped to speak with the owner of the new shop opening next to Hewitt Hardware. He was working on the outside porch area. We struck up a brief conversation. He and his wife were opening up a boutique and leather goods shop. He is a leather craftsman making handcrafted goods. The shop's soft opening is on July 3rd in time for the big ole Fourth of July Templeton parade.

We love these guys…read more Hewitt's isn't a big box store, but we've always found what we needed in a pinch- they do a fantastic job of covering the most common or pressing needs. Prices are always reasonable. My husband stopped in right after we closed on our house to have some wood cut (or similar), and the employee- the gentleman with the truly majestic handlebar mustache- remembered what tools we did or didn't have at home the next time that he stopped by. Where else do you have that kind of personalized service? This morning, with big leaking going on in our garage at home, I raced over pre-8 AM soaked, with my hair somehow still on fire, and in urgent need of tarps to cover our belongings and try to get things secured. Hewitt's already had their doors unlocked/open, despite it technically being before their store opened, and their staff was super friendly and helpful immediately. They got me checked out and on the road before they were even technically open. Having made two emergency Hewitt's trips this week alone, very appreciative for their selection, value, and high quality service.

Due in no small part to my limited experience with tractors and mowers, misinformation led to cutting a drive line that was too short. Even though I felt that the responsibility for this was mine, the folks at Coastal Tractor insisted on taking full responsibility and, after walking me through the proper way to measure the length, gave me another drive line that works perfectly, at no extra charge and with the utmost courtesy. I am very impressed by their integrity, their professionalism, and the quality of their service. Both thumbs up.

Dropped off my Stihl hedge trimmer here for repair as I bought it here when this place was C&N…read more They had my trimmers for over a month, no call, text, or communication of any kind during that time. I finally called to find out what was going on and was told my 500 dollar trimmer will cost more to repair than a new trimmer. No repair quote... Just, "it will cost more than a new one to fix". The reason... It did not have the correct gas. Mind you, I emptied the gas tank before dropping it off and use all the same 2 cycle gas for all my yard equipment. Upon dropping it off the trimmers ran, they just wouldn't stay running. Basically I have to pay to get my broken trimmer back or buy another 500 dollar trimmer and get my broken one back free of charge! Yay! I question the validity of their statement, "this will cost more to fix than a new one". Seems like a win for them either way. And when I questioned their mechanic, I was told how honest and that he wouldn't lie about the type of gas in this machine. We switched phone plans and decided to get a family plan with Verizon. My husband dropped off his family plan to join one with me and our daughter. And of course, we joined in on one with him. That said, the day we went to buy three phones, we ended up walking out with just two. The third phone couldn't get up and going. And we were there for a couple of hours! Lots of chaos. The short of it was, I had to call the 800 number to get the third phone going days later. We were told about a TV that comes with Wi-Fi and ended up taking the deal. There was no information given to us about the TV, turned out. The Wi-Fi was just as expensive as spectrum (which we already pay) so I ended up having to take the Wi-Fi back and do away with the "free TV." Allegedly the original Guy told my husband to call the 800 number on his own to get the Wi-Fi box returned. When I walked in today, Maurice was helping another customer and decided to stop everything to assist me and helped me cancel the WiFi and directed me on returning the box. The things that didn't operate properly to begin were honestly very small, tedious, and doable fixes. My husband and I ended up figuring all this out on her own in order to get his new iPhone up and going. Sometimes it kind of seems like people just work on commission, which is understandable! But to complicate someone's process is never fun for a customer. I just wanted to commend Maurice for his assistance and we will work with him anytime going forward! I worked with Brian, a newer representative, and he was patient, professional, and genuinely committed to helping me with exactly what I needed. He took his time answering all of my questions and never made me feel rushed. When he needed additional support, Junior stepped in right away, which only showed the strong teamwork at this store. I would much rather have representatives who take the time to ensure everything is done correctly than feel hurried through a transaction. As someone from the older generation, I truly appreciated the respect and patience shown by both Brian and Junior.
