If you want high-end consultation and options, and decor, go elsewhere. If things go wrong working with Dave, you will find him unethical, irresponsible, and unprofessional. Dave neglected to mention our options regarding the color of the lights and installed 'industry standard' warm yellow lights. When I realized that I wanted a brighter, cooler light, I contacted Dave to order samples to try out different colors. He wanted to charge us for samples and to replace the lighting if we wanted to swap it out. We counted on Dave to advise us regarding residential lighting, and he failed at the job. Why the one star? Because he introduced us to Dominion Lighting, who did a good job installing the lights over 3 days, and was never intrusive.

When approached, he eagerly welcomed the challenge of modernizing our 55 year old basement's fluorescent lighting. Dave inquired as to our typical activity and physical movement patterns, within the confines of the basement living space. Dave studied the exact dimensions and furniture layout of the room. He analyzed the potential shadow effects along with the dramatic lighting impact available through the use of strategically installed "wash lights." After weighing all of our preferences and concerns, Dave educated us as to the improved aesthetics and higher efficiency that could be provided by strategically installed LED recessed overhead lights, controlled by state-of-the-art dimmers. Once satisfied and in accord with his design suggestions, David coordinated the best price purchase of all new, high quality, lighting fixtures. Dave also personally oversaw the hiring and detailed instruction of skilled electricians and installers. Throughout the entire project. David proved to be highly communicative, courteous and efficient. The results are stunning! Dave Konstantin transformed our rather dowdy basement room into our perfectly illuminated, elegant family room. All accomplished at a reasonable price. I strongly recommend to any and all potential customers the uniquely skilled services of Dave Konstantin Lighting Design. Fred V.

The finished result is beautiful and has the added benefit of imparting a feeling of safety as there are no more dark corners around the exterior of our home. Craig and his son came out to work during some of the worst weather days of the winter and were always prompt and courteous. We had a couple of bulbs go out recently and he came out to inspect and replace them free of charge. Craig is a consummate professional and we would recommend him to any of our friends with landscape lighting needs.

Unfortunately, the tree lights started sagging within a month of installation. I've made FOUR CALLS to their office - leaving message or talking to the person who answers the phone. I let him know that budget was a concern as we moved in recently and have been getting lots of projects done to get the house fully working and maintained. He designed a modest front and back yard package and also included repair/replacement of one set of lights in the back that I had already purchased on my own. In the end, the quote was too much, so Pete and I spoke and decided that all I really needed for now was the back yard since that's what I mostly use and I decided to go with that. They got me in in a pinch before I had people visiting from out of town so the project was done fast one I made a decision. The two guys who did the work did a great job and I even had them remove all the old parts I wasn't using. The new lighting looks great and the old lighting - now removed - got rid of the unsightly broken lights and a really ugly transformer attached to my house. You can't really tell anyone was even in my yard doing work. I am very pleased.

We have a 1970's ranch house that was badly in need of an updated landscape. Working with the…read moreprofessionals at The Sharper Cut was a pleasure from soup to nuts. From booking the appointment with the office staff (love Monica) to the consultation meeting with Michael and Bill. They helped us create a vision for the entire exterior landscape of our home. Here's the best part - though the entire plan was reasonably priced - it was still outside of our budget to tackle front, side and back yard all at one time (we have nearly 2 acres of space to be landscaped) - The Sharper Cut worked with us to create a phase in approach that will allow us to do a little each year and not be overwhelmed by trying to tackle everything all at once. So, we started small and worked with Michael, Andy and Justin (all fabulous - emails and phone calls are returned quickly and by quickly I mean usually with in the same hour - and Andy is super attentive!). Our first project was a "monument" type structure for our house numbers. I had a vision in my head and they were very patient with me as I attempted to transfer my vision into something they could understand and execute. I could not be happier with the finished product. Everyone we have encountered at this business from the field workers to the landscape designers, project managers and the owners have all been accessible, responsive, professional, and just plain fun to work with. This is a small local company; the owners are two brothers and they take extreme pride in their work and have a very competent staff. We are now working with them to update the beds that boarder the house. I didn't want mulch so we are using a beautiful blue stone to match that in the monument. If you want quality, attention to detail, and a beautiful finished product I recommend these guys!

The very few times they needed servicing, their in-house repair technician has made prompt, reasonably priced repairs. In one case he was upfront about why an item that had developed an issue would not be practical or economical to repair, so I live with the issue! The inventory is top of the line, good quality, and is not cheap. With the after-the-sale support and ability to do repairs, however, you can make a good case that it is a good value.

From the initial meeting to discuss our plans to the 3D rendering, the process was amazing. Matt and Kevin were so knowledgeable with Calvert County codes and regulations and offered a wonderful rendering to address the codes and safety! The price was fair and we plan on making them our go-to for our quoted project and many more projects! We love that they gave us a fair price upfront and didn't bargain with us once we said we could not do the project at that time. We asked several friends who each have successful landscape companies in different states and they confirmed the quote we received from Lawn Artist was very fair. We gave Kevin and Matt several inspiration pictures and the rendering we received more than met our expectations so much so that we are putting off saving for a needed kitchen renovation to save for this project instead. Kevin was very understanding and did not make us feel bad for not having the budget to do the project right away and even gave us a great option to do the project in stages fit into our budget! We can't wait to start! By far the best company we received a quote from out of the 5 we contacted!
