It tested positive for yeast, as well as a highly contagious, often fatal illness called Psittacine beak and feather disease. It is caught by environmental means, especially when the level of critical hygiene is absent. The vet I used, For Pet's Sake, has received many incidences like this from customers' pets, and it pending plans to take possible legal action if they have enough evidence with state authorities against this pet shop. I want to echo another post that said buyer beware! I am told that Brenda, the owner, is rude and emotionless when it comes to this. No one apologized, but were stoic. My bird was 3 & 1/2 months old, totally an innocent victim of their neglect, and because of its tender age does not have a chance of survival. Now I have the cage, her playground and other things that I was not compensated for; once, even a closed bag of food with a receipt was not allowed to be returned. Brenda told me I shouldn't be in the business of owning a bird--I did nothing wrong!! I actually needed to finish the job they needed to do, which was to completely wean her! At this place they use the same syringe for all the birds. No wonder!

Here's why: EXPERTISE The associates here have helped us understand what type of feeders and food are best for local birds, how to position the feeders (under or NOT under trees!) and how to provide chipmunks and squirrels their fair share of food without driving away the birds. They've patiently answered my questions about the relative merits of suet versus seed versus grubs and how to attract and sustain specific birds to our yard. SERVICE Always a friendly greeting and offer of assistance when we come in, which we appreciate. They also just let us browse quietly, without constant chattering, which we appreciate even more!
