want to make it clear that my rating is based primarily on the food, as the associate who served us was absolutely amazing. If I were rating this experience solely on her service, it would be five stars all the way. When we arrived, I had mixed feelings about the place. However, we were seated quickly, and the staff promptly brought out bread and asked for our drink orders. We opted for water. I decided to try the Bloomin' Burger and Aussie Fries. Unfortunately, the fries were a big disappointment. I wasn't sure if they were supposed to have a special seasoning or flavor, but they were bland--just a hint of salt on what felt like plain, ordinary fries. The burger had a bit more flavor, but it wasn't anything exceptional. It was quite dry and could have used more Bloomin' Onion and sauce to elevate it. While I appreciate what they were trying to do with the dish, the execution fell short. If I return to this particular location, I'm not sure I'd order the same items again or recommend them. I'd likely try something different next time. That said, the restaurant was very clean, including the restrooms, which is always a plus. Always got a great meal at this Outback Steakhouse! As a old combat veteran (who's stopped driving after sundown), I don't get to the Outback Steakhouse like I did at one time. I grew-up going with my father (meeting his buddies) to Peter Luger Steak House, established in 1887 at the foot of the Williamsburg Bridge, Brooklyn, NY. So, I know good meat and cuts. I wish I had pictures to add but it's been awhile but I'm thinking about you at the Outback! I'm also very good cook, who owned some upscale restaurants many years ago in Texas. My wife and I went last night. The restaurant was nearly empty. After being seated and told our waitress would be right with us, we fussed around with the Outback app on our phones to kill time. After at least 10 minutes with no waitress, we got up, told the front greeter and 2 other employees standing there that we had not been served and were leaving. So, I was leery about which Outback to go to, because none had great ratings. I had a gift card to use, so I drove from New Orleans to Slidell to use it. I was seated immediately when I arrived. I got my bread and drink quickly, but took a bit to get my order in. The server came right back to tell me they were out of the prime rib I wanted and suggested to ribeye. I decided to go for it and added the garlic sauce. I got mashed potatoes and the chopped blue cheese pecan salad. They brought the salad first and it was not what I remembered from the last time I got it. It used to be really finely shopped and all mixed with the dressing and I loved it. This tasted similar, but just didn't have the same appeal. The bread was freshly warmed/baked, but the butter had no real flavor. I tried to add salt, but the salt on the table was a grinder and was no longer working. The steak was perfectly cooked and well seasoned, the potatoes were also pretty bland, but I just ran them around in the juice from the steak. The server seemed stretched pretty thin, but I know how hard it is to get and keep help and she was pretty attentive. We walked in the door at 6:43. The guy tells us we wood be seated at 7pm...we did not call for reservations, but we went outside as we were asked and waited for the text. The text never came so we go back in at 7:05 & the other front end person says we were marked "already seated" 2. Ok Folks I'm tired and crabby tonight. Drove from central Florida to Louisiana today. Just wanted a drink and a hot meal. Outback right across the road. Bar and food!!! Wife and I sat at the bar. We'd been in the car together for 10 hours! Waitress was chatty! Nice. Ordered water and then we must have become invisible. Finally we flag her over order drinks. And food. We decide to split a meal. We are late 70's and just sat in the car all day. Got the salad...some places divide and serve it but it's ok we have been married 55 years and can eat out of the same dish. Waiting for our drinks which we really came for. Finally interrupt the bartenders chit chat and ask if we could have our drinks. Oh, she forgot. We are sitting directly in front of her! Meal comes. One plate. No extra plate. Suppose we should have asked but we did say we were sharing. We can cut it in half and we have the now empty salad bowl. Plenty of food. Good food. Some places do divide meals. Oh well. So a good thing is in danger of becoming just a little too much of a good thing. Over the past 3 months, things have been CRAZY! However, my family and I have been so grateful for Outback and their employees. We order to go from here at least once a week and it never fails. The food is always good and fresh and so reminiscent of when we could actually go into the restaurant to eat. I like that you still get the bread and butter and the portions are never skimpy. When all of this is over, I will continue to patronize this restaurant and I may also continue ordering to go for those days when I want good food but in the comfort of my own home. I would also like to note that the service has been great as well. The joys of traveling from New Orleans to Biloxi MS is that there really aren't many option on the highway to stop an eat so you just have to go with an old favorite. People knock it, but I love Outback. I like their steaks. Yes, it's not Morton's, but for a $19.99 steak- I like it. Where to start. Perhaps with the Big Aussie Bloom to kick off the Outback Experience. Bloomin' onion with French fries, Aussie cheese, and Outback center cut sirloin steak bits on top. Dangerously delicious. Naturally paired that with a Coopers Original Pale Ale because Australia in America. With an appetite like mine that wasn't' enough so I went with the jumbo lump Crab Cakes and the Wood Fired Grilled Shrimp skewers for the ultimate great barrier combo. Main course decided on the center cut sirloin with the mashed potatoes. They did not disappoint. The steak was excellent, medium rare, extra tasty and not over seasoned. Oddly enough the mashed potatoes held their own against the sirloin. If a match to the death was to take place I think it may be a tie. They were both excellent, especially together. Rounded desert off with a pint of the Rogue Hazelnut Brown Nectar. Solid beer with a touch of hazelnut to finish it off. Drinks well after steak and it's light on the palate. Finished with some Big Chocolate Cake and wowza. That piece of cake did me in. I was ready to throw in the towel. But you can't leave Outback Steakhouse without having a Fosters. Which we all know is Australian for beer. Can't wait to visit again. Btw loved Heather. Sweet and informative.
