11.11.22 I'm still not quite sure which place I prefer. Here or Longhorn. I think Longhorn edges the bet with just a little bit better of a grade of the filet mignon. This Outback held its own though. Good & fast service. Good food. Clean restaurant. Average prices. Good value. Nice big parking lot with easy access from Stratford Ave or Bridgeport Ave. Also close and easy access onto route 8 in either direction. Looking forward to being back soon. I ordered my filet mid well but they undercooked it to a med rare temp (see pic below). If it happens next time I'll send it back to re cook. This time I kept it because I was hungry.

Great for family, or date night. Private spaces for seating, indoor and out with bar area. Very nice place. 5stars for service. The experience was super awesome, in particular because of our waitress Michele. She was attentive, warm and friendly. She showed care and concern for our accommodation, for our satisfaction of the meal and dining experience, and was very informative as well. 5 stars for the Menu! It has caloric information, and options if you are watching your calories or if you want to splurge on a dessert. Great variety of choices. 5 stars for the food! Steak was as requested, food was well cooked and perfect to temperature and everything was fresh. The freshly baked bread was delicious as well.

Service was good. Steak was better than I expected flavorful and moist, maybe a little salty. My main complaint was that they didn't cook it to my liking. I wanted a medium well and it was definitely more red than I would've liked. I tried the 3 cheese steak deep, was pretty good but definitely over priced. Drinks were a little on the weaker side.

What wasn't edible left of prime rib!

We went to Outback Steakhouse Shelton, Connecticut last night. Both of us ordered Prime Rib. One was 12 ounces, mine was 16 ounces. The 12 ounce was cooked to medium rare and came out brown. Was edible. My 16 ounce came out rare, but asked for medium rare. After 4 bites of actual meat, I left about 8 ounces of fat on the plate. This wasn't worth paying 29.99 for that piece of meat. Outback in the beginning was awesome, since then the quality of the food went down. I wouldn't feed my dog this food. Sad. They used to be my favorite place to eat. Just bypass it, go up the hill to Longhorns on the left or take the trip to Texas Roadhouse in West Haven, you will be alot happier! I gave one star because the waitress was very nice and was onpoint.

So many people I know love Outback. Yet I am not a major fan of them although they do have their good points. I have been here a few times and they are not awful but I find their menu somewhat limiting. If not steak, that it is a bit tough to find things. Their location is nice though kind of tucked back on a hill. So I came here with one person. The staff were quite friendly. They always are here which is why I gave them a 3 and not a 2. The staff could not be warmer or nicer. They actually have staff opening and closing the door for you! I just do not find them to have as many choices as I would like and this time was no different. I usually like some starter bread but they only have one kind and no rolls at all. We did have the bread they have and it was decent but not great. I enjoyed their soup (Chowder) but also found it to be a bit to heavy for me. My dining companion got steak and he liked but did not love it. I got the soup I mentioned and wings plus we shared the Bloomin Onion. I did not NOT like anything. But I found the food heavy, in particular the soup. And that is the issue for me. There really isn't anything I've had here that I loved. I went to an Outback in Florida that I liked alot better. But that Outback had a bit more options including Sliders. But all that being said, there is not anything bad about Outback and their atmosphere is so pleasant that it's always a pleasure to dine here in that regard. I actually really do like the atmosphere and the fact is I am not much of a steak eater. Never have been. So maybe that is why I find them limiting. They do have awesome desserts though! Family members of mine and friends really like it here so I still come in occasionally. I'd give them an easy five stars for the location, atmosphere and staff friendliness. Would like to see more menu options.

While not pictured we did get a whole bunch of different appetizers. The brussels sprouts, the muscles, the sourdough bread were also delicious. For main course, we got the tomahawk steak with mashed potatoes and mushrooms, the burger, the steak frites , and the mac & cheese, which is actually on the appetizer menu. Everything was so good. Rumor has it the restaurant has changed ownership in the last year- and if that's true- can the old owners buy it back? There has been such a decline in food quality and service! Let's begin with all the ways the food was subpar. First- my mother did the fixed price menu. They forgot one of her courses entirely. The shrimp cocktail was not in the building. Not that it's a huge loss- you get four measley shrimp. Then, the lamb chops were supposed to come with arugula- and the "salad" was a weird container of lettuce and cannellini beans- beans were never mentioned anywhere on this menu. We honestly didn't even know whose meal that was supposed to pair with because nothing like it was on the entire menu. Food allergy risk anybody? The lamb chops were also bone dry- no trace of the reduction or glacier sauce that the menu specified. The worst offense of all were the salad dressings. They were completely inedible! The balsamic vinaigrette was just pure vinegar- like get out your Easter eggs to dye because that's really all you can do with straight vinegar. The raspberry vinaigrette had the consistency of a jam and lo and behold, tasted like a container of raspberry jam. Another was pure olive oil and the honey mustard was oily and way too honey- I think they forgot the mustard part. On top of the food being a total train wreck- the worst part was the service. From start to finish the staff was rude and made it seem like they were doing us a favor by serving us- that's your literal job! Both when we placed the order, picked up the food AND when my mom drove back to get her missing course they acted like we were such an inconvenience and annoyance. For the prices they charge- all of this was unacceptable. Pack orders correctly. Make edible food. Treat your customers with the slightest bit of hospitality. It's not hard to figure out. It's worth noting that when we returned for our missing course another customer was there demanding money back for spoiled food they were given on new years as well. Patrons of Shelton- raise your standards! We don't have a ton of higher end dining options and thus the ones we do have need to exceed expectations. Unfortunately, or maybe it's actually fortunately for us, we won't be back.

The array of dishes was a bit overwhelming. I definitely encourage viewing photos of the food prior to ordering, it helped so much. We started with garlic bread and fried calamari. For the main course, I went with the Lasagna made with ground beef and veal. It was absolutely delicious (I even took some home!) My husband went for the fillet mignon and he said the meat was cooked perfectly. The food was 5 stars! Things to note - It was a bit hard to have a conversation because it was loud. Also, we did have a hard time finding the restaurant since it's in a plaza with other businesses. We had to call the restaurant to get accurate directions. I loved the romance this place has. My uncle rented out the entire private event space. I remember the venue being absolutely stunning. Large glass windows and the bar was gorgeous. I didn't realize this was only the private event section of the restaurant. Fast forward to our visit back in October 2025, when we arrived and wanted to sit at this gorgeous bar that I had remembered, it turns out that area is for private events only. There was actually a wedding going on. So, we sat at the main bar and had a drink which is upstairs. Downstairs is where the private events are. Although the main bar was nice, I just had in my head the gorgeous modern vibe of the event space. The main bar is more old school Italian, warm colors whereas downstairs is more bright and modern. Moving on to the food, we split the Giulio Cesare (Ceasar salad). It was fine. Nothing special. Lots of cheese on top. For entrees, I had the Ippoglosso alla Boscaiola con Pure di Patate e Asparagi (Halibut). It was incredible. No complaints. Boyfriend had the Salmone alla Senape e Dragoncello con Spinaci e Pomodorini (Salmon). He enjoyed his dish as well. What I did not love was the dessert. I don't even remember what it was, but it should have been thawed out a bit. It was rock hard when it got to our table. Some sort of a pistachio dessert. I feel like it may have been a torte. We did not enjoy it. I think it was a special they had. Would highly recommend the event space here (beautiful ambiance), however I don't remember much about the food at the event. The building itself is quite impressive as you walk up to it. Nice grounds.

This was my first time here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. It's a cute little dive bar tucked into the hillside. The parking situation wasn't great, but we found a small lot nearby, so it worked out perfectly. We were greeted right away and sat at the bar. I was surprised there was just a menu for the wings just two full pages--everything sounded so good that choosing was the hardest part. We ended up ordering three different flavors (six wings each). Caramel Soy (my pick): I knew this was going to hit, and it absolutely did. If you've ever had Korean fried chicken with a soy glaze, it had a very similar flavor profile:savory, slightly sweet, super addictive. The best part? It came with a fluffy dipping sauce. So fun. The wings were crispy and tender, easily my favorite of the night. Hot Garlic Butter (my girlfriend's pick): This one leaned more toward a classic buffalo-style sauce. Delicious, with chunks of garlic throughout. Not the most adventurous flavor, but exactly what we needed for a little spice. These wings were more heavily coated, so the skin wasn't quite as crispy, but the flavor held up. Solid 8-9/10. Cilantro Lime Tahini (our mutual pick): A bit out there for wings. I liked the flavor, but it felt better suited for a salad than chicken. Definitely our least favorite, but still not bad. 6.5/10. Overall, we'll be back--I want to try all the flavors!
