We ordered off the Aussie 3 course meal. Nice selections for the price you can upgrade some of your choices for additional cost. It is really a great deal, I did upgrade my soup and dessert. So for 23.99 I got French onion soup the 6 oz filet with mashed potatoes and I upgraded my dessert to the chocolate thunder from down under. It was more than enough food. Will definitely go back again. Server was very attentive. My entree was luke warm and he came back to see how our dinners were, I told him mine was not that hot and he took it right back and had it fixed. I haven't eaten at an Outback for years. I saw they had a Wednesday night special so I decided to grab dinner there. We ordered the 6 oz sirloin with fries, a blooming onion and a wedge salad. My steak was overly cooked and dry. I informed the waitress and she swaped it out for me for a chicken instead. The managers checked on us and apologized for this. The customer service was great. Unfortunately, the food was just ok. The blooming onion tasted like the oil it's fried in. The chicken was good. My favorite item was the wedge salad. This place just sucks. I used to like and enjoy it. Tonight I ordered in door dash one burger and one prime rib. They just canceled the prime rib and send the burger and a price of cake I ordered. I reordered the prime rib with mashed potatoes. They changed it to a ribeye with a loaded baked potato. I hate sour cream. The last time I ordered from this out back the steak was horrible. This Outback held its own though. Good & fast service. Good food. Clean restaurant. Average prices. Good value. Nice big parking lot with easy access from Stratford Ave or Bridgeport Ave. Also close and easy access onto route 8 in either direction. Looking forward to being back soon. I come to this Outback Steakhouse often, so much so that my kids give me gift cards. What's there not to like? I had a filet mignon, broccoli, and homestyle potatoes for $30. I also had a $10 offer, which I gave to the waitress. If you register your phone number you get money back to use on your next visit. Holly, was probably the best waitress I ever had at outback. I haven't been to outback in a while since the one in my town is on my s* it list. This is by far the best location I've ever been to. It's clean, the staff is friendly, and has a way better vibe. I was by myself so I sat at the bar. The bartender was super friendly and kind. I ordered the Alice springs chicken which was actually pretty good. I loved the honey mustard sauce that came with it. Mashed potatoes are delicious and the veggies were cooked perfectly. I noticed they have a new Tim Tam cake which I had to get because I love Tim Tams. We went to Outback Steakhouse Shelton, Connecticut last night. Both of us ordered Prime Rib. One was 12 ounces, mine was 16 ounces. The 12 ounce was cooked to medium rare and came out brown. Was edible. My 16 ounce came out rare, but asked for medium rare. After 4 bites of actual meat, I left about 8 ounces of fat on the plate. This wasn't worth paying 29.99 for that piece of meat. Outback in the beginning was awesome, since then the quality of the food went down. I wouldn't feed my dog this food. Sad. They used to be my favorite place to eat. Just bypass it, go up the hill to Longhorns on the left or take the trip to Texas Roadhouse in West Haven, you will be alot happier! So many people I know love Outback. Yet I am not a major fan of them although they do have their good points. I have been here a few times and they are not awful but I find their menu somewhat limiting. If not steak, that it is a bit tough to find things. Their location is nice though kind of tucked back on a hill. So I came here with one person. The staff were quite friendly. They always are here which is why I gave them a 3 and not a 2. The staff could not be warmer or nicer. They actually have staff opening and closing the door for you! I just do not find them to have as many choices as I would like and this time was no different. I usually like some starter bread but they only have one kind and no rolls at all. We did have the bread they have and it was decent but not great. I enjoyed their soup (Chowder) but also found it to be a bit to heavy for me. My dining companion got steak and he liked but did not love it. I got the soup I mentioned and wings plus we shared the Bloomin Onion. I did not NOT like anything. But I found the food heavy, in particular the soup. And that is the issue for me. There really isn't anything I've had here that I loved. I went to an Outback in Florida that I liked alot better. But that Outback had a bit more options including Sliders. But all that being said, there is not anything bad about Outback and their atmosphere is so pleasant that it's always a pleasure to dine here in that regard. I actually really do like the atmosphere and the fact is I am not much of a steak eater. Never have been. So maybe that is why I find them limiting. They do have awesome desserts though! Family members of mine and friends really like it here so I still come in occasionally. I'd give them an easy five stars for the location, atmosphere and staff friendliness. My family (5 adults and a toddler) came last night to celebrate my sister's birthday. The tables were a bit too close for comfort. Like the elbow of the guy at the table next to us could probably touch my husband's back within 6 inches. We ordered some alcoholic drinks and asked the waiter his recommendations which he replied that he is only 18 years old and hasn't tried them. We couldn't really believe that he was only 18, he was so composed and articulate. Kudos to you sir. He took our order and we had a great meal with just a few glitches (which were totally the fault of the kitchen and bar, not the waiter) Such as, on 2 out of 3 of the steaks with coconut shrimp, they forgot the dipping sauce for the shrimp and we had to ask for it. My steak and I think my husbands were a little too well done. I had asked for medium and he asked for medium well and both of ours seemed well done. Oh! and it was super salty, like I went home and downed 2 bottles of water salty. I totally understand seasoning steaks so they aren't bland, but this was total overkill. Also our second round of drinks took way too long. You'd think they would fly out of the bar in hopes that the quicker they get to the tables, the more you'd be interested in ordering, guess not. The blooming onion was great (sometimes they cook them too much, but this one was perfect) We were also given two loaves of bread with a larger container for the butter, not just one. My blue cheese wedge salad was kind of amazing, my husband caesar was loaded with parmesan. My son really liked his mac and cheese. The portion was so big for him that he's getting three meals out of it. I also had the classic steakhouse martini with Absolut, two of them. With the first one, I asked for extra olives and was given 4, the second martini I ordered regular and I got 3. Apparently olives cost a lot. All in all, it was a great meal. The noise level was a guess standard for a chain restaurant, a little on the loud side, but that was totally fine as it kind of masked when our son was getting a little irritable towards the dreaded wait for the check. read more

Probably have eaten takeout from here over 100 times over the last decade. Everything is consistenly good or great but I do have a few GRIPES. The portions of fries literally make me laugh out loud everytime I see them. They consistently put 10 or less fries and call that a side of fries. I was so excited to eat the "oreo mini parfait," but soon it gave me "mini food poisoning." I'm not sure, it may have been the cream or one of the ingredients had gone bad? I don't recall getting food poisoning from any other restaurants I've been to before. In any case I really like this restaurant and will continue to come back. They've never disappointed me before all the times that I previously went there. Things like this happen sometimes, and I will give more chances. Our dinner tonight was awful from beginning to end. The bloomin onion was greasy and burnt, while some onions did not even have a coating. We saw others come out perfectly cooked. The server should have removed it from the bill on his own especially since I left half of my terrible meal. The salmon was very fishy. I get salmon out a lot and never had it taste so bad. Even the salad seemed old and not crisp or fresh. Someone must have dumped a salt shaker on the food which was almost inedible. This is not the first time. I will not be in a hurry to go back! I ordered 4 meals to go which were supposed to be ready at 5:20. I got there 5:15 checked in and paid. Was told it will be ready shortly. other cars pulled up and their orders were delivered right away. 5:30 a worker comes to my car and asks my name. I told him and he went inside to check. A text message came in at 5:30 and said the order will be ready soon. By 5:45 another worker stops by my car and asks my name. I give it to her and she said the order was done and supposed to be delivered to me already. Guess not. So 25 minutes later the order came . Honestly, I am surprised that this restaurant only has three stars. If there was an option to give a higher rating, Michael and his staff deserve it. We attended a Yelp event at this particular Outback about a month ago to reveal the new menu and test it out. I have been dreaming about the honey sriracha ever since. My husband sent me a text yesterday asking if I wanted to go to Outback for dinner with the Tuckaway cards we had been given during the event. Dana was our waitress and she was great. She was talkative and she clearly enjoyed her job. This was amazing since it is all too often that waiters or waitresses do not like what they do and they make it known. I suffer from postpartum anxiety and I have a rambunctious toddler. She decides what she wants 90% of the time and is very head strong. Yesterday, happened to be one of those days where she wanted to walk around saying hi to everyone, walking outside, and a mix of screaming- so I apologize to anyone that had to hear her. However, babies do what they want because they're babies. In short, my anxiety was pretty bad because of the constant stares and dirty looks. Michael, the manager/permittee, was like a guardian angel. There are distinct things that set customer service apart. Michael is constantly walking around and interacting with guests like they are old friends. Yesterday was hands down the best customer service I have ever had postpartum and in my entire life. During one of my daughter's screaming fits, Michael came over and offered animal crackers since she was clearly not eating her food and she loved them. It was so very much appreciated and there was no way that I could put my appreciation into words yesterday. Usually, my husband and I switch off walking with her while the other eats as fast as we can without choking or causing a belly ache. Yesterday, my husband ate first and I took the baby outside to finish her animal crackers. Since it was one of the first nice days in a while she loved sitting on the bench, catching some rays, and eating the crackers. When I came back inside my food was no longer on the table. Michael had taken it back to the kitchen to keep it warm. That had never happened to me before. He brought my dish back over and was concerned that by leaving it out the ribs had dried out and offered me additional sauce. Michael just gets it and I don't think that I would ever go to another Outback as long as he is in Shelton. Believe me when I say this as my best friend is one of the managers at another location. I know it is OG's motto, but I think when you're here you are family. As for the food: it was phenomenal again just like it was at the Yelp event. I got the steak and ribs with the honey sriracha sauce and I had some to take home. Dana even packaged up extra ranch and honey sriracha to take home. Their grilled cheese for kids is huge and reasonably priced with the amount of fries they give. I have yet to find something on the menu I don't like. read more

I recently attended a Yelp Elite event at this Outback location. It was a tasting of several of their upcoming menu offerings, paired with a selection of beers from the Boston Brewing Company, best known for their Sam Adams brand. I'll admit, I hadn't been in an Outback in almost thirty years, back when it was mostly known for blooming onions and big, tough steaks. The change from then to now is staggering: they've still got the blooming onions, but they're now emphasizing quality over quantity, and the food is absolutely amazing. To start, we all tried a new cocktail, their strawberry sangria. There were a lot of fruity notes to this, provided by peach rum and fresh strawberries. While not exactly what I would order in March, this would be perfect on a hot summer afternoon. The predominant flavor was strawberry, but the rum and wine base smoothed it out so it wasn't overpowering. It was refreshing. We sampled the beef quesadilla, hand-passed as an hors d'orurve. It had just the right balance of thinly-sliced prime rib and Jack cheese, with a touch of chipotle sauce to give it a bit of a kick. Following this, there was the new 3-Point Rib Bloom--the classic Blooming Onion, topped with cheese fries and four baby-back ribs. This was a no-brainer, and the four of us at the table devoured the entire thing in almost no time. The two sauces, I think a ranch and a sriracha-laced version of the ranch, went perfectly. For me, either of these two appetizers would be a full meal, but YMMV. The next course was their new Toowoomba Shrimp-topped Salmon with their Blue Cheese Pecan Chopped Salad. I'm not the biggest salmon fan, mostly because where I've had it before never cooked it properly. Here, there was a crisp outside, with the rest of the fish flaky and moist. The creamy shrimp sauce had just enough flavor to make itself known, but not overpower the salmon. This was probably the best salmon I have had at a restaurant. The salad was dressed with a light balsamic vinaigrette, which enhanced the cinnamon pecans, without drowning the greens, nor taking away from the bite of the blue cheese. By now, I was full, but the main event was about to start. First, a sample of the center-cut sirloin, served with their home-style mashed potatoes. The steak was cooked perfectly: medium rare, pink in the middle with a good sear on the outside, and nearly fork tender. I forced myself to devour the entire plate. The potatoes, which are usually an afterthought at most restaurants, were fantastic; seasoned well, and they were the perfect accompaniment to the beef. But, for me, the main attraction were the ribs. I would travel almost any distance for a good rack of smoked ribs, and I was not disappointed in the three styles placed in front of me. There was lots of smoke, and they were falling-off-the-bone tender. As they say, "It's all about the sauce," and their basic sauce is very good. I'm not a fan of heat, so the honey-sriracha sauce, while good, wouldn't be one I'd order on another visit. The third style, dry-rub, I thought was good, but I would have liked a bit of sauce on the side. These, in themselves, make a trip to Outback worthwhile. To finish things off, the dessert was a Double Chocolate Mini Dessert Parfait. A light chocolate mousse, laced with crushed Oreos, topped with whipped cream and hot fudge. I amazed myself by polishing off the entire serving. The beer pairings were phenomenal. I'm not a beer drinker, but the choices that Boston Brewing paired with the food were excellent. I particularly liked the Rouge Hazelnut Brown Nectar, an American-style brown ale, and the Rebel IPA (and I'm not a fan of IPAs in general). Thanks to Boston Brewing for introducing me to some of their products that I might not have ever tried in another setting. So, for those who follow my reviews, I concentrate on two points: the food and the service. Since I've already reviewed the food (which was simply amazing!), let's talk service. It was obvious that everyone, from top management, to the servers and bartenders, enjoys working for Outback. There were smiles all around, genuine curiosity as to how we though the food to be, and a level of friendliness one rarely finds in a chain restaurant. While I'm sure everyone was on their best behavior, it was apparent that the normal experience a diner would have here wouldn't be much different than what we experienced in this setting. It was a welcoming environment, and I wish more restaurants, in general, had the same level of friendly service. So, to summarize, the food I tried was stellar, as was the service. I would come back to this Outback location and recommend it to anyone looking for a good dining experience. read more

Went here for lunch today and I got to say tHey have a very affordable lunch menu. I went with the $7.99 Soup and Salad. You get a choice of salad-- Caesar Salad, House Salad. And Soups were potato, clam chowder or French onion. I got to say that it's the best meal they got. One downfall, tHe clam chowder had bacon in it and carrots. Probably one of the worst clam chowders I have ever eaten. They also have a $12.99 deal we're you get a salad, soup entree and dessert. This is the only place I've ever eaten dinner while staying in Shelton. I come here a couple times a year on business and the meal is always solidly good. Tonight I sat at the bar. Kelly took great care of me. My filet came out perfectly. The place was busy but service was not compromised. After a while, Jim the manager, acknowledged me. He came and chatted and it was lovely to be acknowledged. He bought me a glass of wine, which was totally unnecessary but very appreciated. It is obvious that Jim and his team understand what it takes to serve and take care of customers. I will be back. And i will recommend this place to my clients and colleagues. Planned a trip here with my husband since we wanted a good steak dinner. We recently moved to Torrington but we always stay true to the Shelton location due to wonderful past experiences with the staff, food and manager. We checked the online app to see if there was a wait and it said no wait time. We arrived around 6:30 to a packed restaurant but no wait! We were seated quickly. Our waitress Wynonna was very upbeat and pleasant. We ordered the bloom petals for our appetizer and they were delicious. I ordered the 6oz sirloin medium well, which came well, with the premium side of macaroni and cheese. My husband ordered the 10oz bone in ribeye with French fries. His steak and fries were both over cooked. The place was super busy for the holiday so we chalked it up to them being busy for the holiday. Will probably be back. read more
