Overall Good food. That day I really was just looking for some Mac & Cheese and I found exactly what I wanted @ Trap Chicken. Since I was there i decided to try the chicken as well. The food was very good everything was seasoned well. The only slight issue is that they use styrofoam containers so when you order to go, so the chicken becomes less crispy than it would have been dining in, but it was still good. I ordered my trifecta of soul food sides... greens candy yams and (Trap) Mac & Cheese... No Complaints... Customer service was right and prices were right, so I would definitely go back read more

Their fried fish is my favorite, don't need any other seasoning or condiment on them..delicious.

Let me first start off by sayin, im from the south. Finding good southern food is hard up here. This place was recomended to me so i went and checked it out. Let me first say that when i walked in I did not feel welcome. I felt like i was trespassing based on the way i was being stared at by the guy at the counter. Despite that I went up and not knowing the menu, asked him for a recomendation. I was ignored. Literally he said nothing to me and just stood there. Felt like leavin at that point but i didnt. Ended up ordering wings, mac n cheese, and yams. Food took about 25 minutes to cook. Gave me time to sit and observe how differently other customers were welcomed when they came in. Might have been a skin tone thing but i want to give him the benefit of the doubt. Got my food, still didnt say anything to me but "here." Took it home. Wings were ok, but i expected some seasoning. It was just fried wings. Definitely needed hot sauce. The mac n cheese was ok. Id give it a 5 out of 10. It was really oily, not alot of flavor but ok. Yams were good but way too heavy on the clove flavor for my preference. Priced way too high. For what i got, id say it was a 10 dollar plate at most. read more

As soon as I found this place online, I knew it was only a matter of time before I had to try it. Today was that day. I ordered the 10 piece chicken dinner, half yaheardme, half lemon pepper for myself, and the 6 piece for my wife. We didnt know. We weren't ready. How were we to know that the meals would come with spanish rice, mac and cheese, and cornbread? In this economy, $19 for 6 pieces of chicken sounded about right; why would we expect more? LET. ME. TELL. YOU. This place FEEDS you, and it feeds you well. I knew I was in the good kind of trouble when I grabbed the bag from the cashier tore my rotator cuff. The meals had heft, the bag must've been reinforced with the power of prayer itself. It was a long ride home, and the fragrance filling my car made me almost miss my exit. Once home, I tore the bag open to relieve it of its duty. It thanked me. I popped the styrofoam top open to the sound of a gospel choir. Oh yes, it was time to eat. Front and center was a piece of cornbread that demanded my attention. I tried to pick it up but was unsuccessful. The cornbread collapsed in my hand. I didn't know cornbread could do that. The cornbread itself didnt know it could do that. I grabbed as much as I could to try and take a bite. It was so tender. It was a cornbread-flavored whisper. It was ethereal. Dark magic was clearly at play here. I had to continue. I stared at my 10 wings, accompanied by heaping scoops of mac and cheese and spanish rice. Where do I start? And how? I grabbed a lemon pepper wing first. Crispy, salty, tangy. Everything I was expecting a lemon pepper wing to be. Next was the yaheardme. The saucier of the 2, I had high expections. And they were met. Sweet, salty, mildy spicy, I had 3 before I realized where I was. I decided to try the mac and cheese next. It was immediately obvious that it was crafted to silence the naysayers. With a pugnent cheese flavor along with noticeable black pepper specks, no one could say that this was underseasoned. Finally, the spanish rice. Well-seasoned, and perfectly textured, it was maddening. As a passionate home cook, I have yet to achieve such a rice myself. It was flawless. Overall, this was an experience. I will be back repeatedly. read more

The food was delicious and the customer service was wonderful. I will definitely visit again.

The fish and shrimp are slamming. I've been looking for a place that makes fried fish and enough food for myself and littles when we're in town! This place definitely makes it worth it. I also ordered candied yams. Everything was on point! read more

Trap Chicken - Fried Shrimp Combo with collard greens and Trap Mac & Cheese - Seafood Near Me - Bridgeport, Connecticut

I really wanted to like Trap Chicken, especially after looking at all of the pictures of their food online. I love supporting local black businesses, but Trap Chicken fell short in the flavor of the food. Both the macaroni and collard greens were bland and lacked flavor. The fried shrimp were okay -- not terrible but not spectacular either. I will say that their customer service makes up for the lack of seasoning. When I called to inquire about my order the man who answered was kind and friendly. Although I didn't fully enjoy my food this time around, I am willing to give them another try to check out their other menu items. read more

Found this place by accident with 2 friends and the 3 of us were all very impressed. Ok so me and 2 friends decided to meet up at Rootsman kitchen which is one of my favorite restaurants in the world. Best Jeek chicken on planet earth BUT Rootsman was closed. I believe they traveled to Jamaica so my friend TJ said that Trap Chicken next door is supposed to be good and that he knows 2 people who both really liked it. It didnt like much from the outside but we were already here so we decided to step in and try it. The owner was very friendly and inviting. We grabbed some menus and the 2 of them decided to go with chicken. I went with a burger meal just to switch it up but I asked him to use some hot jerk sauce to kick it up a few notches. We sat and waited as everything is made fresh. Food came out and everyone got quiet as they were focused on their plates. All I heard was chomping and some satisfied type groans. I asked them how their meals were and they said amazing and not one thing they could complain or say could be improved. Main dishes and sides were on point with the flavors and the cooking. Top notch spot. Not sure when I will be back in CT but Trap Chicken has just been added to my favorite CT food spots and we will be back. Thanks guys read more

Very good food. I had the honey Cajun wings which were flavorful and meaty. The Mac and cheese was not dry and the candied yams were very sweet. The location is at a shopping center and there is some parking. There are some seats inside and there is a Pac-Man machine inside. I waited about 20 minutes for the food and they call when it's ready. I do not live in or near Connecticut but I will go back here. read more

The Sweet Chilli Jerk sauce is AMAZING. I ordered Chicken and Fish with Mac n Cheese and Collard Greens. I asked for the sauce to only be on the chicken. The chicken was cooked perfectly!! The mac was delicious. The fish was fried well but lacked flavor. It tasted like there was no seasoning. I wish I asked for the sauce on the fish as well. The collards need some work..no flavor. This was hard because the sauce was so good. I want to try other flavors. I would recommend this place. The portions were great, everything was cooked well. Certain things lacked flavor in my opinion. This could of been an off day. I just know that the sauce has me sold. read more

Trap Chicken - My leftovers. It was a beautiful looking plate but I was too hungry. Sweet Chilli Jerk Wings, Fried Fish, Collards and Mac - Seafood Near Me - Bridgeport, Connecticut

When I walked up to the store, I saw a couple happily munching chicken in their car. Good sign. I ordered two fried chickens with mac & cheese and collard greens for my wife and daughter. I got the fried shrimp and fish combo with mac & cheese and collard greens. Unanimous decision, the food was great. Everything was fried to order so be prepared to wait a bit. They'll call your cell if you'd rather sit in your car. Everything comes out hot which is nice as it was still piping hot when I got home. The collard greens disappeared in an instant and the mac & cheese was yummy. It even had nice melted cheese on top. The shrimp were amazing and the fried fish was exactly what I wanted. I'll be back there again. Oh, they have a Pac-Man machine. read more

Food was fiyah, hit them up and try it for yourself the Crack and Cheese and collard greens were delicious

This was my second time ordering from here. I found it on Uber eats and decided to go in person this time. They take your order and then your phone number to call you when it's ready. I knew once that happened it would be a while but didn't anticipate waiting 40 minutes long. When I got home with the food I was pleasantly surprised with the portion I received. I got the sweet chili jerk wings/bbq bacon wings w Mac and cheese and collard greens. Also got a side of fried fish. I must say everything was pretty tasty. The collards were heavy on the salt though so I couldn't eat to much of those. The fish was delicious, thinking about going back there for some more of that soon. Overall this spot is now on the list of food places I like. Looking forward to trying some of their other menu items. I just know to call ahead so I don't have to wait as long next time. read more

Amazing! We got the chicken shrimp combo with Mac and bread pudding. The staff was so friendly and food came out fast. We will be back

The 2nd time that I got my seafood boil I was very disappointed. There was a mix of deveined and non deveined shrimp in my boil and the shell was never removed from the egg, yet it had seasoning on it. The sauce was definitely not the same from when I got it the first time. I do understand that restaurants can have off days but when I'm turned off it's likely that it will be a good long time before I return. I did recommend to the owner that he labels if the shrimp are deveined or not and add sauce options. I never seen this happen ... read more

They get 5 stars from me! All of the food is delicious and fresh. I love the way the guy that takes the orders over the phone says: "THANK YOU. I APPRECIATE YA!" right before he hangs up with you. Little things like that are so important these days, especially when there are so many restaurants to choose from within Bridgeport. Eating out is a luxury for some of us. Even if IT IS take out. So getting HIGH quality food, and feeling like my business is appreciated is invaluable, and makes me want to keep going back. This is definitely my "go-to" soul food spot. I kept hearing about this new spot called Trap Chicken so I'd figure why not give it a try. After seeing the Instagram page I was excited! (Lol I love food) I ordered the fish and shrimp dinner which did not disappoint! The food was seasoned so well. I paid $20 for the meal which wasn't bad considering you get two sides as well!
