Ordered a gallon of Manhattan clam chowder for father-in-law's birthday - it's so hard to find. Picked it up but it was New England instead. I called afterwards and was told he'd replace it but I should call in a week since he's so busy. I left a message with no response - it's been over a month. Not impressed with their service. Not sure if they are a restaurant or only a food truck - trying to be both but not accomplishing it well. Out $65 won't try then again. read more

I came upon their food truck at the Walnut Beach Farmers market. I was with friends who weren't eating, so I was thankful for friendly and quick service. I think the only dissatisfaction was the menu didn't seem to include beverages so I walked away without one as one was never offered. The fries were perfectly seasoned but I definitely wished I had a beverage. The lobster roll was also delicious. A good size and a nice flavor. A bit pricey, but worth it for lobster. read more

the fish and chips was wonderful! we enjoyed our Lenten Feast of fish thank you so much it was delish!

Stopped in for lunch today. Ordered a Scallops Dinner (included fries & coleslaw). Total bill was just over $20 (w/ tax). Maine scallops, I thought they were excellent. Fresh, with nice breading. Slaw was good also. Tarter was very tasty -- no need to use it with the scallops (because they were already so good), so I dipped the fries in the tarter. Owner was very friendly. I would definitely come back in the future, Szabo's Seafood is a solid 4 Star rating, IMO. read more

The review is for the store in downtown Shelton We had been wanting to try Szabo's for the longest time. Based on the reviews, my family and I were expecting to be "blown away" by their food. We ordered fish and chips, crab cakes, NE clam Chowder stuffed clams, fries, lobster bisque. The food was "fine" but absolutely nothing to write home about. Crab cakes, fish and stuffed clams were only average in taste and seasoning. The clam chowder and lobster bisque were nothing special. Fries were soggy and I only live 5 minutes from their store Also had to wait an extra 20 minutes at the store for pickup since they were behind on orders. They also didn't tell me there was a 4% upcharge for debit or credit cards until I got to the store Disappointing for the money we paid. read more

Was excited to find a place close to home to get a lobster roll. We usually go to lobster shack in East Haven. Really disappointed. Lobster was overcooked and dry even though it had butter on it. Place didn't look too clean either. I almost was so turned off by that alone I was hesitant to eat it but for the price I couldn't throw it away. Won't go back for sure. read more

Best decision we've made at a food truck! The Fish & Chips were well cooked and crispy to perfection, it is served with a side of tartar sauce & coleslaw. The New England clam chowder wasn't as thick as were used to but it was delicious with a lot of great flavor! Huge chunks of clams and bacon added the right amount of richness the bowl! We'll definitely be back the next time we see them out again! read more

Enjoyable seafood while attending the food truck festival in Milford. The shrimp were cooked perfectly and were accompanied by cole slaw and tarter sauce. The shrimp also came with French fries. For $12, we thought it was a good deal considering the quality of the shrimp. read more

At this year's New Haven Food Truck Festival, some friends and I split a couple of lobster rolls from Szabo's. Each was $18. We all agreed that while we appreciated the pureness of the lobster, it was clearly not the freshest lobster we've had in Connecticut. So that was unfortunate. However, it was a nice touch that the order included some fries and coleslaw. read more

3.5 stars. The owner doesn't smile much but was professional and helpful in introducing the items. He also seemed really nice to the regulars when it comes to pricing some of the fresh by weight items. We got the captain's platter which was about $28 and good for two ppl. It was a big platter of fried yumminess. The platter consisted of 4 fried shrimps (they were large and sweet and very yummy), 4 fried whole scallops (two were a bit smaller but big enough for multiple bites), a bunch of clam strips, 4 fish filets (our least favorite bc it reminded us of school lunch fish sticks in texture. Mushy and tasteless) and a big boat of fries. Also comes with two Cole slaws. Now that we have tried all of the items, next time we will only get the scallops and shrimps. The Shelton location is only open on Friday and Saturday's. read more

~~~~~~~~FOR THE FOOD TRUCK~~~~~~~~ My job gets food trucks to come and try their food out on us frequently and we just so happened to get Szabo's Seafood yesterday. I actually saw the restaurant not too long ago when I got lost and wanted to try it so...WIN WIN WIN (The Office reference). The food was sooooo goood! I ordered the fish & chips. I'm honestly not a huge fish fan, but I somehow ended up liking fish and chips. Don't ask. They were sooooooo gooooood! Holy crap! My boss got the lobster roll and liked it so much that he ended up going to buy another. Their food is super fresh, too! Customer service is great! Although the owner seems to be strictly about business, he is very accommodating and makes sure that what you ordered is what you get. This was my experience. Would I recommend? Absolutely! Will I visit? Yup! I plan to in two weeks! :) read more
We had the Szabo's food truck for our daughter college graduation party yesterday and could not have been more happy with everything! Mike and Dan were wonderful! The food was AMAZING! We had the lobster rolls, all you can eat shrimp, clam chowder, fish and chips, chicken tenders ( also amazingly good)for the non fish fans . Thank you for a wonderful, stress free party! read more
Probably the best option for takeout seafood in Shelton. Tried the fish sandwich along with a side order of shrimp...everything was OK, but I thought the portions were a little small. I liked the chewiness of the bread on the fish sandwich and thought the fish had decent flavor. I didn't like the batter used for the shrimp...sort of resembled a beer batter, which I don't really care for because of the extra breading. Staff was super friendly. Its a small place so its takeout only...no inside seating. read more
Loved it! Got a De-lish lobster roll from the truck. Soooo good. Comes with fries and cole slaw. read more
Szabos brought their food truck to our work location. In 90+ degree heat their crew did a great job of serving us light delicious seafood dishes. I had the fish and chips and it was not overly greasy. They were doing a hot lobster roll but I did not feel like spending $18 for lunch. I will repeat if they bring their truck to my work again. The only bad part was for my coworkers that did not order from their food truck. The entire building smelled like fish and chips. read more
This truck is awesome! They have shrimp, crab, lobster, fish. A great way to satisfy your seafood lunchtime craving. I got a fish taco with french fries for $7.50. The taco was more like a burrito. It was huge! A full sized piece of fish in a tortilla with cole slaw, lettuce, tomatoes, and spicy sauce. YUM! I could barely finish my delicious fries. That day they also had soft shell crab available. I cannot wait to go back again! I thought the prices were fair for how much delicious food you got. read more
The lobster roll was pretty god, but not much chunky lobster meat, it was more chopped or scraps. It had a good taste, but I do not believe worth the money and wait. The lobster bisque was $9 a bowl and was nothing, but broth, not even the slightest hint of a piece or scrap of lobster. It wasn't very tasty, I will not make this mistake again. That said, I did see one of the fried fish dinners and it did look very good. If I ever go back, maybe I'll give it a try.... read more
Horrible. Food was anemic and gross looking inside the glass case. Looks like it's been sitting there for days. They were out of clam chowder, bisque, and all soups. Out of clam strips!! Food tasted freezer burned. First and last time coming here. read more
Had lobster roll at the Mark apt. Worst lobster roll ever and top price paid very annoyed with their quality and quantity of food.
Szabo's Seafood is all that it is cracked up to be! They catered a 165 person summer party with what seemed like ease. From the planning stages to the clean up on the day of the event, not a beat was missed and all details were executed perfectly. Everyone enjoyed the steamers, shrimp, chowder, lobsters, chicken, steak, corn and potatoes very much!! I look forward to working with Cathy and Dan again in the future to plan additional events. I wanted to write a review on The Little Red Seafood Truck. I had Jury Duty and after five hours I was starving. The Little Red Seafood Truck was the first food I saw when I got out and since I like seafood and the prices weren't bad, I thought I'd give it a shot. I had ten bucks on me and I really wanted the lobster roll, but it was $13 with fries. I settled for the fish taco which came with fries. It was pretty good and the service was as expected. I would definately get it again, however next time I'll have the $13 on me for the lobster roll. read more
Husband brought home lobster rolls that were pretty pricey. There was hardly any meat sadly and i said to him i can buy 4 lobsters for the price of two of these rinky-dink rolls! Gotta be worth the price paid-simple. read more
Overall decent food truck that comes to DT New Haven on a regular basis. My husband enjoys their lobster roll, and the other seafood they provide. I love this truck! I always see them at Wooster Square, get their lobster rolls all the time and I'm hooked! They sold out of lobster so I settled for a crab roll. OMG! It was so good! Nothing better than a Connecticut style lobster roll on a sunny afternoon. I was so happy to see a seafood truck parked in Wooster Square. Now I'm upset that I know its there every Saturday. The lobster roll came with fries. The sodas were a buck. The entire meal is still cheaper than most lobster roll trucks in NYC. The lobster roll itself was decent. I just wish I asked for extra butter! read more
We had Szabo's seafood truck at our beach party in Narragansett for around 150 people. It was outstanding. The lobster rolls and fried shrimp are some of the best I've ever had. After living in Dutchess County, NY for thirty years and experiencing supermarket quality seafood everywhere, we could not believe the super fresh quality of the Lobster Roll, Fish and Chips and fresh cooked Shrimp w/cocktail sauce. The best part is Szabo's is in our town of Shelton. It's a true little corner gem that provides some of the finest seafood in Connecticut. We liked it so much we got take-out two days in a row. I am looking forward to trying their whole belly clams next week. Szabo's is take-out only and is appropriate for what it is, the best seafood in the valley. read more
