Went with a group of friends to check out the Men in Motion show, which was an absolute blast. I was a little annoyed upon arrival that when I ordered a Guinness for my first drink, the bartender didn't take the time to tell me the tap wasn't working before cracking open a bottle, but my opinion was improved with her diligence in assuring our group's designated driver got what she needed, especially since one member of our group was drinking excessively. DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME!!!!!!! Are negative star ratings a thing..??? If so..This place more than deserves it!! I ordered a lobster roll, I've had one from there before and it was amazing. Today....... it doesn't even have 3 tablespoons worth of lobster AND every "chunk" had a large amount of shells inside of it!!!! And I paid $22!!!!!!!! The atmosphere: gorgeous! The decor is seaside-themed, with a great big bar that will welcome you home. TVs to watch the games while you enjoy some of the most delicious food ever. The food: There is something for EVERYONE on the menu, pub style food and also specialty selections like crab cakes and calamari. The food is not the kind of stuff you're used to being served at a chain restaurant where everything comes frozen and is thrown in a fryer. NO! It is all hand made by a chef who clearly takes pride in his cooking. Authentic philly cheese steaks! Great selection of beers on tap or cocktails if you prefer. We have been here at least 4 times since they opened and always had excellent service. we are looking forward to the springtime when we can sit outside on the little patio to enjoy our meal. oh! I almost forgot to mention the pizza! Brick-oven pizza that comes out crispy and divine! Prices are very reasonable, this place is a GEM. We will be regulars for sure! read more

Stopped in because I heard live music was advertised. I am not sure who was older the band or the crowd. Both seemed to be past 60 ish for sure. Not that I am against any age having fun because we all get there. But the music was awful and the crowd looked like they were staring off into space. The food was below average and drinks were pretty light. Any way drive by and head into downtown it's worth the trip. read more

We used to come here regularly when it was Danny'o (for the wings!). Since new ownership and rebranding, we have come a handful of times and, at best, it's average. Depending on the day, the bar staff delivers decent wings, but seems to struggle from understanding a basic drink. Some are nice, at least. Can handle nice and slightly clueless, but take issue with not knowing fairly basic recipes like a vodka, soda and a splash of grapefruit. If you want your local dive bar come during the week and lay low. If you want a weekend jaunt, let's hope they improve. read more

I've been going to Hook LIne and Sinker for 2 years and its my favorite bar in Shelton! Gino is awesome in the kitchen and is always willing to go the extra mile to make sure that you're 100% satisfied with your food. Their seafood is always fresh and made to order. During the football season they've got every game showing (even my beloved Minnesota Vikings) and the crowd is always great. I wish the beer selection was a bit better though and the menu could get an upgrade or expansion. Other than that I love HL&S. read more

This place is a shame!! I haven't been there since it was Danny O's and I'll never go again! Went there with my cousin who I haven't seen in years. We went for some drinks and apps. Sat at the bar and the 2 girls that were " bartenders" were very rude and acted like we were not customers!! The apps we tried weren't very good but the kicker to the whole event was after buying the bartenders drinks and shots and having a 100 bill, one of those pieces of trash put down a 50 dollar tip , fraudulently!! I have never had this happen to me in my life, I would never go to a place at employees thieves and liars and condone any type of behavior like this. I disputed it with my credit card company and the manager or owner of the place sent back a scribbled off copy to my credit card company showing that somebody broke in $50 for a tip. It's absolutely disgusting and to be honest with you even if they had the best food in the world, this type of behavior is unacceptable and disgraceful! Note to self, start saving your receipts every time you use your credit card, because you too can be a victim like me!! Owner in the place in general should be disgusted and humiliated for that type of actions!!! The food here is honestly some of the best in town. Seriously, check out the tacos, fried cod especially! Or the bbq chicken pizza or maybe a giant cheese steak or even their extensive wing selection. I can't get enough of their food. Great lunch spot. Hook Line and Sinker is no stinker. A complete redo of the old Danny's Bar on the River Road is a welcomed addition to the local food scene. If you ever been to Danny O's you would probably wouldn't think about stopping in here. Danny O's was a dirty old dive bar not that there is anything wrong with that. HL&S completely gutted the place and what an inviting place it is. Nautically themed with a bar on one side and dining room separated by glass walls. Big screen TV's are every where so you will not miss your game. A wide variety of national beers as well as local craft beers on tap are available. Specialty cocktails are available in addition to many top shelf spirts. Now the best part... the food. We were a party of 12 so we had the opportunity to try as many menu items and the list was long. Clams on the Half Shell were fresh and plump and at a dollar each are a bargain. The New England Clam Chowder was loaded with clams and a delicious starter. Deep fried pickles were a find as you can not always find them. A juicy half a pound burger top with a fried egg was great. The tuna tacos were out of this world and what a find. Three huge tacos loaded with grilled Ahi tuna. The Cheese Steak I would put up against anyone's loaded with steak, a combination of American and Cheddar cheeses, grilled onions and mushrooms on a huge Taranova roll. I call out the roll because it made a big difference and I had to know who made it. So I asked was was told it was a Taranova roll from the Bronx, so you know quality is important to HL&S. Ordered through Uber Eats. Their lobster role is advertised as a foot long, but is about 6 inches long. At $20 a piece, this is insane. When we called the restaurant, we were told that a manager was unavailable, that we would get a call back that wasn't guaranteed to even be tonight, and that we would have to wait until we spoke to a manager for anything to be done (AKA they weren't sending new food or issuing a refund). We're in New England, there are plenty of other places to get a lobster role that isn't small, over priced, and incorrectly advertised. read more

Went here on Saturday night 4/28/18. We had planned on going to another place, but my wife's friend was having a surprise birthday meeting there. So glad we decided to eat here instead. Clams on the half shell $1 each, $2 oysters. I'm not a fan, but my wife got some of each and said they were good. Can't beat the price. As I hinted at, not a big seafood fan, but decided to try the Tuna tacos. I got the blackened, my wife got the charred, both rare. Wow, were we surprised. I was expecting three small tacos, like we've had at other places, Three good sized tacos. We could have split on order. One was plenty and we both ended up taking 2 home each. For 10.50 you can't beat it! They were delicious with a nice slaw, and picot de gallo (?sp). There was also an avocado dressing on them that my wife like and asked for an extra cup to take for the leftovers. We also got the HLS tater tots. Wouldn't recommend them for $8. They had a nice Gorgonzola drizzle/stuffing with some jalapenos. Nothing special and they weren't very crispy. Not busy for a Saturday night. We sat at the bar, there was a good band. Nice layout with a section for the band, a separate dining area and the bar. They also have a garage door that opens onto an outdoor area with tables. Very nice time. Everything was clean, the staff was friendly and after drinks, food and a $20 tip, the bill was a little over $100. Not bad, considering we also had dinner last night and still have 1 1/2 tacos left.
