5 stars for the beautiful view and outdoor seating. Good vibes. 3 for food. My lobster roll was 42 dollars and just okay. I know places close by with better lobster rolls for less $.

"Everybody, listen to me And return me my ship I'm your captain, I'm your captain" (Grand Funk Railroad) We had zero issues with our lunch at Captain's Cove. Everything was fine- from the service to the food, to the wonderful view and ambience from the picnic tables and waterfront patio where we ate. Hats off to the engaging woman that took our order. I'd love to give her a shout out by name, but our receipt only identified her as "Server 2 Counter 2". She was helpful, very funny, and did us a solid by identifying the day's Senior lunch specials. We ordered lunch at the counter and went with two of the $9.99 Senior Specials, a Fish Fry with fried fish filet, fries, slaw, tartar sauce and a lemon slice. I went with a $21.99 Calamari Platter with a big portion of calamari, fries, slaw, marinara sauce and lemon slices. My calamari was very good - hot and tender and not rubbery or chewy at all. The marinara sauce was a nice touch to the platter. All of us were very impressed with the quality of the fries, they were dusted with something on the outsides which made them extra crunchy. Really, they were excellent. After lunch, we took a stroll down the boardwalk and checked out the small shops along the waterfront. Most of them were closed, but in season they would be a cool way to spend some time and pick up a few doo dads. All in all, we were mega impressed with the Captain's Cove complex.

Plenty of outdoor seating with umbrellas.

Ended up here for a lovely Wednesday afternoon at the end of the summer. There are plenty of picnic tables and benches to sit at. Most have umbrellas to protect from the sun as well as the seagulls. There are lots of birds that get all up in your business so be prepared for that. I grew up in CT but have moved away so scoring a good basket of Fried Clam strips was number 1 on my things to do list and I wasn't disappointed! Service was fast and pleasant. The strips were plentiful and the fries were tasty. They didn't have Heinz ketchup but the fries were so yummy I didn't need ketchup anyways. The tarter sauce was fresh and just perfect. It's not cheap but the food and atmosphere are definitely worth the price of admission!

I tried captains cove from word of mouth and it was alright. I mean apparently it might of been better few years ago from what I was told but I wouldn't really know being it was my first time. I got a huge plate of fried seafood. And it was pretty good. I mean not the best in my opinion but not bad either. I tried some shrimp from my girlsfriends sister but it tasted more frozen. I Didnt really like it much. The restaurant has nice decor really does look like it has alot of potential. I would come back and try something else and see if anything here tickles my fancy. Perhaps some lobsters.

This place used to be such a vibe.. Haven't came here since before Covid and I'd have to say it was pretty dead for a Saturday night, especially the last Saturday of the summer on Labor Day weekend. I ordered a platter with chicken tenders, buffalo wings, mozzarella sticks, and fries. Unfortunately they didn't even have ketchup, they ran out. This is the first time in my life I've been to an establishment that ran out of ketchup. They even ran out of regular lemonade, so I got the raspberry one instead. There was some people in my party who took some food to go.. they gave them paper with a small paper bag. They don't even have to-go containers. They had to wrap their food up like a present and shove it in a paper bag. The cheap brown bags you get at the corner store. The chicken tenders tasted like a chicken patty, it did not taste like real chicken. It must've had some fillers grounded in. The mozzarella sticks tasted like they were frozen not fresh. The fries were breaded and was the only thing I enjoyed, wish I could dip a few in ketchup, but this place does not have any. I tried my mans onion rings and it was nice and crispy. Someone I was with ordered the fish of the day and was given a small tilapia, I wouldn't be surprised if it was the type harvested to clean sewage. I remember when they used to have live music here. I remember when there wasn't a cover charge just to walk upstairs to the bar. Why would I want to pay $20 just to buy a drink and have to get frisked, when there isn't even live music, not even a live DJ, and you can see from the ground level that the balcony is absolutely not poppin. I feel bad for the beautiful little shops down the boardwalk, because I'm pretty sure this restaurant attracts their business. Compared to the last time I was here several years ago, this was such a disappointment.. This makes me sad. I have no interest in ever coming back ever!

I wanted to come for the last Saturday(8/31) of the year! It closes until next Memorial Day! Idk what hppn. to Captain's Cove. It is not what it used to be. I haven't been here since Covid(I don't even like mentioning the C word smh). Captain's Cove consists of a seaport, boardwalk, restaurant,& bar. It has a couple of vendors on the boardwalk as well. I came w/ my sis,her bf, & mines! We wanted to order our food downstairs @ the restaurant & grab it to go upstairs to the bar(which we have done numerous times). We got there around 8ish in the night. We ordered our food & received a number that would be called. I noticed there was a cover charge of $20 to go upstairs to the bar. It used to be free. On top of that there was always live salsa bands. Idk if it was b/c it was in the night (the cover charge). We decided to just eat. It wasn't worth the $20(especially w/ no live band). We sat inside(there is an option to eat outside as well). My bf wanted fish so he ordered the fish of the day(which was tilapia). He isn't too fond of it but wanted fish. It came w/ a baked potato & corn on the cob. I ordered the butterfly shrimp w/ French fries. It came w/ Cole slaw. Our food took a bit (it was quite busy)so we all conversed. The food came out (it took awhile)& I was beyond disappointed. Shrimp looked like Chinese food shrimp. I can tell it was frozen shrimp. Gross! Crazy the shrimp @ the Chinese restaurant taste better.Fries,Cole slaw was good. My bf's potato tasted like it's been sitting there for a while & it was small. The fish was so thin I couldn't believe it & just 1 tiny piece. It tasted bland & it was deep-fried/breaded.The only thing that was a descent size was the corn on the cob(they gave him a whole one). It had no flavor though. I tried some of my sister's food. She ordered a sampler platter. It had mozzarella sticks, chicken wings/tenders,fries,etc. Everything tasted like it was frozen products deep-fried. I also tried her bf's seafood platter. It had fried clam strips, fish, calamari, etc. Meh,It was ok. Clam strips had nothing but bread crumbs. I asked one of the employees for a to go box. I had most of my food still left. I couldn't even eat it. That's how bad it was.She handed me a tiny brown paper bag & paper(it looked like paper you wrap shoes w/ or gifts). I looked at her like what is this. I had no choice but to wrap my food w/ gift wrapping paper & stuff it into the tiny brown paper bag. Overall, food is horrible (nothing but frozen not fresh food) & there is a cover charge just for the bar! I didn't feel the good vibes neither.Captain's Cove has to have new owners b/c this was never like this! This is a Bridgeport landmark & I feel like it's ruined. I will definitely not be back which is such a shame!

Like most everything nowadays, Captain's Cove Seaport in Bridgeport has changed quite a bit. The crowds were much thinner today and there was no live music. However, we were greeted by three exquisite egrets. Two were in-flight, and one was playing hop scotch on the variety of spectacular boats on the docks. There are a variety of cute little shops, an ice cream store and one good restaurant with multiple floors. People were friendly, well behaved and handling the high temperatures and the intense sun pretty well. Everything was clean, merchandised and organized. There was plenty of parking available and it was nice to visit a spot I used to go to by boat when I was a teenager.

This spot is nice! Dining inside or outside by the water. Cute little shops to shop at. My review is for the food only. I ordered the fish and chips. It was cooked well but no flavor at all, and I didn't care for the fries. The cole slaw is really good. The prices are pretty high. Paid 65$ for 3 meals, which I do not mind if it's worth it. The service was great!

I had a great time at this place. I really enjoy the live music and the ambiance. There's usually a good crowd, and at night they have Latin music, while during the day they play all different types of music. The food is good, although I wish they had more non-fried options. However, I really loved the fried clam strips - they were so good! Service was good basically you order and wait for your number to be called. The prices are what you would expect for the Seaport area.

    Chicken tenders and fries.

Food and atmosphere is great. It's family friendly or just a good place to listen to live music and vibe with friends. Most try during the summer.

Lobster roll was delicious. Fried calm strips were really good as well. Lots of menu options Atmosphere is nice. Outside seating. They ran out of hot lobster rolls despite it being earlier in the day.

I happened to visit on a Wednesday, when they run a popular fish fry special for $6.99. The special includes one piece of fried fish, French fries and a small side of cole slaw. It was a perfectly sized portion for me, and it was cooked perfectly. Order at the counter, they'll call your number when your lunch is ready. I was able to sit outside at a table under an umbrella and enjoy the beautiful summer afternoon near the water. After lunch I took a walk around the area and found a cute row of little shops along the dock. They had a variety of art, clothing, crafts and gift items for sale. I wished that more of the shops had actually been open, but I suppose that they would be had I visited on the weekend. All in all, Captains Cove was a nice place to spend the afternoon.

Hot and cold lobster roll! Awesome !

Perfect place to sit and just relax ... food is pricey though . service is good! It was short but sweet visit!

Nice vibes, music pumping, drinks flowing...Chris our server was PHENOMENAL! She was a huge part of our magical experience. I started off with the buffalo cauliflower. I will preface this by saying I'm not a big Buffalo flavor person, but I'm a vegetarian and didn't feel like getting my usual vegetarian app - brussel sprouts. I wanted to expand my palate that evening and surprisingly I actually really liked it. The amount of blue cheese was perfect for me (despite the reviews) as it would have made it too salty and greasy. Next was my entree: Modified Kettle Cooked Zoodles. As a vegetarian, I never have the highest expectations but I was blown away! Chris our server was so sweet to have this customized for me. We took the idea of hubby's Branzino sauce and added more veggies to the Kettle cooked Zoodle dish. It was so yummy! Hubby's Branzino: fish was well cooked, elegant flavors from the Puttanesca sauce with spinach and mashed potatoes were excellent! Faux-ito: I got two, the first was the classic, the second was a mix of strawberry and pineapple. Both delicious mocktails! The Forbidden Pear: hubby got this one. very balanced, not sticky sweet. I can't believe this gem is just sitting here in Fairfield. Not too far off from a night in the city. We will definitely be back!

The brioche bun for the roll was also perfectly grilled and buttered up. In fact, we learned that the restaurant gets their buns fresh daily from a nearby bakery. Since we had arrived for an earlier lunch and the bread wasn't ready yet, there was actually a ~20+ min delay in getting our food. The staff was very nice but very very green. I saw a couple things that I've never seen before. My conclusion was that they are, like many places, having trouble finding experienced help so they are hiring inexperienced help and they're just too busy to train them. It's not uncommon but it did stand out for us here. If you go here I recommend being prepared for that. We were here in early May and maybe by June it won't be an issue. My one knock that is a big one for me but might not be for you is the requirement to order everything at once. I hate that. If we don't return this will be why. It makes me feel like I'm working for them vs the other way around. Often I change my mind over the appetizer. I might see a dish go by that looks great or I may have a seafood app that is so good I decide to stay with seafood. I know all the arguments about the kitchen being more efficient, etc. but having worked in the business for a couple decades I know that it's not really a big deal to order in stages, particularly with all the technology they have today that we didn't back then. I just really hate having to order my whole meal before I've settled in with my first drink. On my first visit, I ordered the Parchados Churrasco, served with white rice, Yukon potatoes, guacamole, house salad, and chimichurri sauce, everything was flavorful and well balanced. This time around, I decided to switch it up and tried the Tamal Tolimense (Toli-Paisa). I didn't see it on the menu, but I had spotted it on their Instagram, and they were happy to make it for me. The Tamal Tolimense was a very generous portion. It's a traditional Colombian dish from the Tolima region, wrapped in banana leaves and filled with masa, rice, chicken, pork, vegetables, and egg. The filling was hearty and satisfying, but the masa itself was a bit bland and could have used more salt. We also shared the Parchados Picada (Meat Lovers) for two ($39.80), which came with steak, pork and chicken strips, fried pork belly, pork ribs, sausage, blood sausage, tiny yellow potatoes, arepitas, tomatoes, and ripe plantains. The portions were excellent and definitely worth sharing. For appetizers, we ordered the Canasta de Plátano (stuffed plantain cups with steak, chicken, and shrimp) and the Alitas de Pollo (6 wings with fries) Both were solid choices, though I wasn't a fan of the Mango sauce, I think a mango habanero hot sauce option would have been better. To drink we had spicy margaritas and a round of pomegranate Long Island iced teas, which were strong, flavorful, and well made. The ambiance is another highlight, the space has a great aesthetic, the food is always nicely presented, and the music was on point, with a mix of classic salsa and modern artist such as Bad Bunny. Parking can be tricky on the street, but they do have a parking lot nearby if needed.
