Was in the area and I had a strong need for a "Carnivore lunch", so I stopped at Rancho Pantanal. Filled up a takeout container with just meats -- chicken, steak and sausage. Went back out to my vehicle to consume my lunch. Honestly, I was underwhelmed with my takeout. The meats were on the dry side and salty tasting, the only real flavor I could detect was charcoal. Fortunately, I grabbed a bit of BBQ sauce, that helped, but quality cooked meat never requires sauce to be edible, sorry. That's my review, a weak 3 Star Rating, IMO. My niece recommended this place. I always pass it but never tried it. I'm guessing I got it on the wrong day. Some of the food is buffet style & also chef cuts/cooks meat in front of you. The chef was a little rude to me & snappy. I didn't hear him ask me if I wanted fat or no fat on my beef brisket I ordered. He got upset b/c I said no then yes but i said it right away. The cashier was ok not too friendly neither. She weighed my food & my cousin treated.I picked fish(which I wasn't thinking fish needs to be fresh,not sitting there),fried sweet plantains,& mixed vegetables on top of ordering beef brisket. I overheard someone behind me ask if there was redder meat which there was. I was bummed out b/c I didn't know. The brisket was cooked well done. All of the food except the brisket was cold & not tasty at all. It was not good. That food tasted like it had been sitting there since the morning. We came around 4ish. The only thing that was decent was the beef brisket. It had a smoky taste which I like. It wasn't cooked to my liking but it was very flavorful. Most likely they didn't change out their food. MIsleading. Unlimited buffett is only on the weekends, during the week it per pound. The cashier and the server were too busy with their conversation to take care of any table that was sitting down. When you approach the counter they look at you like you're bothering them. FOOD WAS GREAT, but I'm going to have to think twice before I go back as I do not want to have that type of experience ever again. I am actually sitting in front of Pancho Pantanal because I just returned with a piece of meat from their buffet that was a ball of beef and when I bit into it, it was completely raw!! Not rare but raw deep dark red like it hadn't even been warmed!! I brought it back to them and showed them and it's like they didn't believe me even though it's right there in front of their faces! They're not gonna give me my money back and it was only $10 and the girl behind the counter said I would have to go to the hospital in order to get my $10 back and they still have it on the buffet for other people to eat it!!! They're not even taking it off the menu!! I showed them the meat it is completely raw on the inside and yet they are doing nothing about it!!! I am just amazed that they were this unprofessional and the lack of concern that they have for paying customers. Rancho Pantanal was pretty good. Very filling. I had this and Caracas in Trumbull Mall within a day of one another so I am comparing them a little. Caracas is Venezuelan and in the mall. This spot was in its own location and it was very nice inside. We initially planned on getting food to go, but decided to stay because inside was so charming. (Pics coming soon) Loved the bacon wrapped chicken, the rice, and tried fried Yucca for the first time. (I've had it cooked differently but was never impressed). It was delicious. Oxtail was a no go. Baked chicken was good, and I was not impressed with the (well done) steak. I don't eat a lot of red meat so I was happy that i didn't layer my plate with it. Very cute spot for 2-at most 8. There was a birthday party going on in a corner. Nothing super special, they sang happy birthday. No big deal. I wasn't wowed by anything, but I was absolutely not disappointed. The flavor of all the meats is really good. ID Brazil in new haven is the same owner but his spot in New haven is way better simply because they have way more variety at the buffet. I gave this place 3 stars simply because of the small variety at the buffet. They should have more different types of food. Once they do I would definitely go back. And good ( buffet ) the obvious reason to go is the Brazilian style of open flame cooking meat. The one thing I will say, while there isn't much "service" needed for such a set up... If you speak English and have an issue they act like they cannot understand you, and if they are not acting then they genuinely do not understand what you are trying to say. Gave this place a shot 5 times and have only had good experiences with them customer service wise twice. Went with a party of 5 coworkers and bought my food and sat down at a table to eat. I could not drink due to medication I was on, so I ordered a non alcoholic drink, which the other coworkers I was with we're going to pay for. When I finished my meal I got up to leave and was chased outside and was accused of stealing. I was handed a bill with the entire tables drinks on them, although the rest of the party was still sitting at the table eating. When trying to explain that the group was paying I was told I was not allowed to leave and had to wait for management. That should have been my first and last time going there, but I understood that there could be some confusion although there were still 4 other people still eating. They never have rare or medium rare steak. Very disappointed maybe management should do something about it

We selected all you can eat for $25.00, They come to your table with a skewer of meats. the first was chicken wrapped in bacon, (very small) the bacon was burnt- the meat was dry. Next chicken wings. The wing was burnt , the skin was dry and hard the meat inside was dry. The steak , the slices were very thin, I couldn't cut it with my knife, it was a very, cheap piece of meat. Next The sparibes. They bring on the skewer a one inche piece of bone with a little bit of meat that is so salty ,. I speak only English and the waitresses I had were very sweet and while one had a strong accent she was sweet respectful and kind. There are two mains options, you can either do a self-serve buffet by weight ($7.50/lb) or a full rodizio where you can essentially eat as much as you want for ~$25. We did the weighed plates and that seemed like the way to go budget wise unless you're planning to eat more than 3lbs of food in one go (O.O). This place is such a good deal for quality food! Sirloin and ribs were delicious. The hot/cold buffet bar was on point: stand outs include the plantains and chimichurri sauce. The restaurant is nice, clean and well-decorated with plenty of parking. Unlike the one Yelp reviewer, we had amazing, super friendly service (that was totally in English) from everyone in the restaurant (from the manager who greeted us, to the meat carver, the cashier, the waitress etc.).
