Yesterday, my Lovely Wife came up to me and said, "Do you mind if we have the leftovers I made for Dinner the other night for Dinner tonight?" I replied, "That sounds good to me." And then she said, "No, wait, it's Linda's Birthday tomorrow; let's take her out to eat tonight." I replied, "That sounds good to me." So, there we have it: we're going out to eat and celebrate Linda's Birthday, and that sounds good to me. My Wife made the phone call, and it's all set. We're taking Linda out for her Birthday wherever she wants to go. She lives behind us and will be over at 5 pm, then we are going to Outback Steakhouse. That's where we took her last year for her Birthday. Off we went to celebrate Linda's Birthday. Outback isn't crowded yet, and it's Sunday dinner time. We were seated in a booth, and soon our Server, Crescent, came over. We asked about their "Aussie 3-Course" they've been advertising. She explained it to us, and then we ordered our drinks, unsweetened tea all around. That's "all around" for the three of us, not the entire restaurant. Just wanted to make that clear - I'm not doing that again. Their Bread & Butter plate was bought out, and it's Sweet Dark Brown Honey Wheat Bread made with Honey, Molasses, and a touch of Cocoa Powder. Served Warm with soft butter. This Bread is very soft and cuts with their knife nice-n-easy. Spread that butter on, and you are now enjoying some very Delicious Fresh Baked Dark Brown Bread. Soon our Iced Teas arrived, and we still have not totally decided what to order. A few minutes later, Crescent returned, and we placed our order. Guess what? All of us are ordering the same thing. Their "Aussie 3-Course". Their choices are "The Bloomin' Burger" / "Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp" / or the "Grilled Shrimp on the Barbie". You can also upgrade from these to other choices they offer. All three of us chose the "Gold Coast Coconut Shrimp" - Six Gold Coast Coconut-style Jumbo Prawns (shrimp), reduced version of Hooley-Dooley, hand-dipped in batter, rolled in Coconut, fried until Golden Brown, served with a Sweet & Tangy Creole Marmalade. There is also a choice of Salad or Soup. Choose the Salad: Mixed Greens, Cucumbers, Monterey Jack Cheese, Cheddar Cheese, Cherry Tomatoes, Red Onion, and Seasoned Croutons, with a Creamy Homemade Ranch Dressing. We all also chose the same side, their Loaded Baked Potato: Large Russet Potato with Salted Skin, topped with Butter, Sour Cream, Cheddar Cheese, Crispy Bacon Bits, and chopped Green Onions. The "Aussie 3-Course" also comes with Dessert, New York style Cheesecake: A large slice of Plane, Ultra-Rich Cheesecake served with our choice of a Sweet Raspberry Melba Sauce. Their "Aussie 3-Course" is only $14.99 for each of these plates. What a Deal. Orders are in, and we finished off that Dark Brown Honey Bread. I love it when restaurants make their own bread. It makes your dining a little more special. Soon, our Salads arrived, and they were served in a Huge Bowl with Crunchy Greens and fresh Veggies. This is one of the Largest House Salads around, and it's all Freshly made and Delicious. Their Ranch Dressing is what they say it is: Creamy. It took a while to finish the salad because there is a lot there - but Linda & I did. My Wife saved some of hers to enjoy with her dinner. Crescent came around often to check on us, and each time we chatted some more. She is really nice, knows a lot about Outback, and the entire menu. Our Iced Teas were filled often and quietly. Soon, our Salads were gone, and our Main Course arrived. Your eyes go right to the Prawns, or Coconut Shrimp, because they are HUGE and completely covered in Golden Brown Coconut. There are only Six on each plate, and yet it covers the entire plate, except for what the Loaded Baked Potato covers, which is also HUGE. The Marmalade for the Shrimp is right in the center, and it looks Thick and Yummy. The Baked Potato salted skin is very well covered, and the aroma fills the area. Outback is doing this right. My first bite was one of the Large Shrimp dipped in the Marmalade, and it was Perfect. Lots of Coconut on these Shrimp, and the flavor is Amazing, especially with the Marmalade, which also has a sweetness to it. The Loaded Baked Potato is one of the Best Loaded Baked Potatoes in town. They really pack in the toppings. Love the Salted Skin. I normally don't salt anything, but I will make an exception to this because it's prepared perfectly with lots of toppings. Crescent brought out our Cheesecakes, each in its own container, and a big bag to carry it all in, along with the leftovers. My Wife told Crescent that she is an Awesome server, and it was a delight to have you at our booth. She also told her that she is Beautiful and Cute, and I totally agree. I can say that now because my Wife told her first. See, guys, that's how you do it. Let your Wife or Girlfriend tell her first, then you can. Crescent was great & earned a very nice tip for providing the Best Customer Service around. read more

I called in an order of coconut shrimp today for my 87yr old Mom. She loves this stuff and is sensitive to "soy" in her diet. When I ordered it, I was able to place the "no soy" in the special instructions. It was no problem for them! The order was ready in as little as 15-20mins and I stopped by to pick it up! Awesome taste! Excellent service! It was a bit pricy, but everything seems to be right now ... read more

I tried to place an order over the phone today because the option that I usually get when I'm in my hometown was not on the menu as an option and from the moment that she started talking I could tell she was super annoyed didn't greet just asked what kind of car I was driving when I asked about the product that I was looking for she basically was super rude instead of just answering so I called Longhorn steakhouse instead lol read more

I've been to this location twice. First time we sat at the bar and someone had their dog there sitting on a chair. It was a small dog and was apparently friendly because the wait staff and the manager came and petted the dog and then continued on with their handling of food. The second time we visited this location we sat at the bar. There wasn't a dog but there was a family sitting there with a kid who had toys out and playing and talking loudly. Ok we can get past that because kids are kids but I don't think they belong at the bar... so my food came out wrong and the bartender admitted that she put it in wrong. My husband had already been given his steak and he didn't want to eat infront of me while I was waiting on my corrected meal. It took a little too long to get the food so the bartender went to the kitchen to see what's up. My plate was right and the food was hot but guess who's wasn't? Right. Meanwhile his drink wasn't refilled, we weren't offered bread when we sat and certainly wasn't offered more bread as the evening went on. All and all it wasn't worth the $100 bill. Meanwhile the manager or proprietor was standing in the back watching the nfl draft and didn't seem to care when my husband mentioned his concerns - we had already paid and tipped so we weren't trying to get anything free. This outback is ran poorly. read more

So sorry about this. Our lunch just wasn't Outback quality. Our server in the bar was very pleasant and helpful. My coconut shrimp arrived almost burnt. She agreed and went to get me a replacement. Mt husbands steak was seared too dark. It was on the edge of burnt. This was a birthday lunch for husband. Just was not a meal to be proud for a celebration. You can do better. This was at lunch on Oct 16. Ambiance as same as usual. Food prep needs some attention. From New Braunfels. read more

We have always enjoyed Outback at a number of locations. This was our first visit to this location and we weren't disappointed. As usual, we ordered a Bloomin' Onion. When it arrived the waitress apologized regarding its small size and said they were cooking another one for us. While it was indeed small, I told her it was OK as it was just the two of us anyway and asked her to give the second one to another customer. While we were eating it the second one, more like a dish of crispy onion petals showed up. They were very good too, different, definitely more crispy. The remainder of our order arrived. Again, we are very familiar with what we like and what we ordered. It was all excellent. The service was excellent. Our beverages were never empty. What else can you ask for? Seeing as we make a stop in San Angelo every year I'd imagine we'll be back. read more

Horrible service. Steak was raw and undercooked for my wife's I asked for them to finish cooking and they returned mine still raw. Blooming onion was burnt. They also made my sister chicken, but brought it out raw as well. The manager had an attitude with our family on a nice night. My sister for her birthday was offered ice cream, but they got the order wrong; to not make waves we decided to just eat it and go. Will not return to this hole in the whole unwelcoming establishment. Sad to say but it was a waste of 70+ dollars. read more

If I could leave no stars I would. Went for a friend's birthday and waited 2 hours for food. The service was horrible and the waiter was rude. The manager walked around to check on people at every other table but ours. Once we eventually got our food it was cold and the steaks were cooked wrong. It was busy but there were parties bigger than ours that came in after that got their food before ours. Will not return to this place. read more

Kind of going high on these stars for a chain but came here and...... please don't bash me for this, but ordered the steak sandwich. I cannot believe how good it was, I mean it the way it came wrapped in some kind of newspaper looking wrapper and as you remove it, cheese and all kinds of gooey things come dropping out but that flavor though! The fries were good as well. Had a margarita which was kind of on the light side, boo nanny to you bartenders, don't be so stingy. Service was decent as well as finding a parking place. Rest rooms were clean considering the restaurant was 3/4 filled. read more

Steak was so burned the charcoaled bits flaked off as you cut it. The salad and steak were so salty it was burning our mouths. We had to flag the waitress down multiple times, and when we complained about the steak being salty she said we could get it unseasoned then. We also found hairs in our bloomin onion. Definitely would not come back to this outback again. read more

Was working in town and couldn't decide where to have dinner and The Outback Steakhouse was near the hotel so I decided that would be the place, as they tend to be very consistent with the quality of food. I had a drink at the bar, my standard old fashion which was very average. It was somewhat warm even though she had added a ice block and the amount of orange pulp was a bit much. I then moved over to the main dining room for dinner and ordered a side salad for starters which was good, then a 6 oz filet which was cooked perfect and a baked potato. I also wanted to taste the Mac & cheese. Everything was very good. Side note the Mac and cheese was enough for 2/3 people. My server was extremely friendly. Great place for dinner when in San Angelo. read more

My family dined at Outback Steakhouse yesterday for dinner and this experience was slightly less enjoyable than our previous experience about a month ago. I opted for the "Tilapia with LUMP CRAB MEAT" with broccoli and my husband tried the "Grilled Chicken topped with Bacon"; his meal also included mashed potatoes and a side salad. For starters, by the age of three I could catch a crab, cook, and eat it like most Charlestonians worth their weight in gold. Knowing how much work is actually invested in harvesting crab meat, I only allow the term "LUMP" to be used with crab meat when that's what it is. Therefore, the crab should be pulled from its crustacean's shell in one piece or in a LUMP. This allows the diner to enjoy mouthfuls of crabby deliciousness in one or many bites. That's NOT what I got! Instead, I received a beautifully cooked piece of grilled Tilapia with a flour filled patty on top that would give all of the diners with gluten sensitivities in a "crab stuffing" induced coma. Yes, "crab stuffing ". That's how the manager succinctly described my meal when he came by to check on us and I explained the small dilemma. He added that the "stuffing" was topped with "crab" but he left the "lump" off of his description. Unfortunately, I did not care for the addition but he did offer to switch it out. At that point I was near done with the meal. My husband enjoyed his chicken but the mashed potatoes was SALTYYYYYYYYYYYEEEEEEEEEEE! I mean so salty Lot's Wife (know your Bible History) could have made them by stirring the pot with her finger! I will give the Manager an "E" for effort as he further explained Outback is known for their "BOLD flavors". You can't fault the man for trying and they did swap out the Salt Reserves for a beautifully cooked Sweet Potato. Overall, the kid's meals turned out well and our waitress was an absolute treat. While I can't say when we'll return I'm still a little "salty" (pun intended) over that "lump crabmeat" which was more like the meat harvested out of a blue crab's backfin. Missing home and great seafood ~ read more

My husband and I used to come here for every anniversary, and on other occasions too. It was our favorite place, but since mid 2022, we noticed the quality of steak going down. I love steak but dislike steak sauces, so what appealed to me about Outback was the amazing taste from being seasoned perfectly. No need for sauce. But now, I don't feel the same. They don't season the steaks like they used to, making them less flavorful. This is the first year my husband and I will be having our anniversary dinner else where, and I'm kind of sad about it. My friends who recently went said that there's a new chef and that the chef isn't doing very good, so it got even worse AGAIN. Keep in mind that this could just be my outback having these issues. I'd like to back IF the quality of the steaks get better, otherwise, I'll be exploring other options. However, management and the waiting teams are always hard working and very nice. They always do their best, check in on the tables frequently, and have great attitudes. My only problem is the steak. I do love there baked potato soup, and there Chocolate Thunder From Down Under is delicious! If your not going for steak, they have plenty of other options that are yummy too. For me though, the steak was a must, which is why I'm going else where until I hear about better steak quality. Thank you for reading! read more

Stopped in for the first time in 10 years. I had chicken on the Barbie and my wife had sirloin. Both were fantastically cooked. Only complaint was the sides. I had sweet potato and it was the size of a new potato and my rice was maybe one scoop. I left a little hungrier than expected for the price. For that I have to give 3 stars instead of 4. read more

The food was pretty good, tasted great but it could've been hotter considering there weren't that many people. The bread was great as it normally is. The girlfriend and I ordered steaks, chopped for me and a sirloin for her. My broccoli was cooked to perfection and nice and hot when it came out. Her potato was a wee bit too big for her, though no complaint there. Apparently this is where entitled pricks like to hang out. The last three times we've come there's been one who felt entitled to everything and anything he wanted. The one this time didn't think his Steak was seasoned enough, sent it back, then there was an issue with the shrimp or something, it just kept going on until the manger got involved and he got pretty pissy with one of the waitresses. Just a never ending cycle. read more
