He seemed like he could care less as he walked up to our table, he was rude to my cousin, making snarky comments to her like, "Should he have to guess what type of wine what she wanted", instead of asking her to clarify. He may not have heard her, but she ended up having to repeat herself three times. My husband asked for a specific beer, he (Josh) hawed and hemmed about well I don't know, umm I'd have to find out. My husband finally gave him an out by saying, "Well if you don't know then you must not have it." We learned about how much he disliked all of his past jobs and how this was just temporary. He slowly warmed up, but I felt like it was only because our table ordered quite a few drinks and that he may have a decent tip. Also, our lemons in the water had the stickers on it, when someone at the table asked about it, the waiter stated that, "Well sometimes the guys cutting the lemons get lazy and others take the stickers off... we get what we get." I don't feel that that is indicative of the service that I have had there in the past or what my cousins have had. Whereas, Amy, the bartender went above and beyond to make up for our lack of service. She was bright, friendly, and more than helpful! It's hard to rate a restaurant low when we all know it's difficult to hire staff right now, but it was super slow service and they weren't very busy. The table next to us had to ask for a server, and then they had to get the attention of the host to get drink refills. I wouldn't visit again until the employment environment improves. read more

We don't like booths, so we hadn't been to this Outback until after the redesign with lots of tables. Which are too close together, but I really want to address the issue of the food. My husband was very disappointed with his salad, which he thought tasted "chemically" like the lettuce wasn't washed. My 6 oz sirloin was supposed to be medium well (pink in middle) but it was firmly well done. If you call yourself a steakhouse, you need to get that right! The grilled "shrimp on the barbie" that came with it were small, mediocre, and strangely served on a burnt slice of the otherwise good brown bread. I might come back to try a medium steak - and see if they can get that right - but I'll never bother with the shrimp again, and no more salad for us. Came to this Outback with my son, I ordered the cobb salad and he ordered a full rack of ribs. The two stars are for the salad. It was ok. The full slab of ribs were a joke. When they arrived my son told the server he ordered the full slab. Server said "they are". It actually looked like may two thirds. We asked what does the half look like? From what the server said it appears to be the other third of what was loosely called a full slab. To pay twenty dollars for that is a shame. I have not been to an Outback in about tens years, now I remember why, it was the food! read more

Very disappointed! I used to eat here all the time and now it is a disaster. They used to have the best chicken, but have changed to a Cajun style chicken to save a buck. Their service is crap along with their kitchen. They are still at only 50% capacity which is mind blowing. I have a couple friends who used to work here and left because of how bad it is. Used the pick up service which was fast and friendly. The 13oz ribeye was not friendly. The meat was threaded through with a silvery membrane which made it nearly impossible to cut, much less eat. The part we couldn't eat was weighed on a digital scale: 3.9 ounces were inedible. So, $25 plus tip for basically a 9 ounce steak, potato, salad, bread. Do they cook the 'old' stuff for the pick-up customer?? We're done with Outback. read more

Good food and a great waitstaff as long as you aren't doing curbside pickup. They regularly seem to forget to check for cars, so you have to go up and knock on the door-- which is locked-- so you have to hope someone hears you. That's the only downside. The service I received was quite unfriendly. The proprietor seemed to be very pretentious and the food was quite bland. The portions were definitely not worth the amount I paid. While traveling from Memphis to Nashville, my daughter and I stopped in to the Outback Steakhouse, Jackson, TN for a late lunch. We always have French Onion Soup and it did not disappoint this time. Our steaks were cooked to perfection. Our service was exceptional, the waitress kept the tea glasses full and the bread on the table. Service and food were both fantastic. I am one of those people that when things are good, I regretfully admit that, I don't make the effort to leave a review. On this occasion, I had left my credit card behind. I loved getting outback on my way home from work it was very convenient. The last few times my order has not been quiet right. But this last time was my worst experience, I ordered my filet mignon medium rare. Well it was well done, no taste. I'm glad I had A1 at the house because that was the only way that the hockey puck could be eaten. The loaded back potato was decent. But it's sad to say the best part of the dinner was the salad which tasted like it was not watched. I've been here a lot. A few highs and a few lows. Usually the food is pretty good and tasty. My problem lies mostly with the service. It is very spotty and they don't always seem very happy to help out their customers. I'm not so sure why that is. Next, we had the Blackberry Cherry Wine that had NO taste of either fruit, just a strong alcohol afterbite like turpentine. Me and my family have went here for years and they have always treated us as family.. The bloomin onion is always on point and the bread stays fresh.. My fiancée highly recommends the potato soup and myself influence you to try the sweet glaze pork tenderloin it is amazing.. The cooks there do a great job along with staff.. Outback restaurants are typically nice places. This one is (mostly) decent when you're dining in. But the take away service is atrocious. They are more routine at getting your order wrong, than correct. Granted, I may only use the curb side 5 or 6 times a year, but they get my order wrong almost every single time. Today was no different. I ordered a appetizer of cheese fries and they forgot to include the ranch... that comes... with... the cheese fries. So I decided to be polite and wait for the lady to help another car and I was going to ask for my ranch when she had finished with them, as opposed to calling on the phone. I did so and she goes back for my ranch and returns with a to-go ramekin, about half full, of ranch. Not the to-go bowl that it's supposed to come with. A ramekin. Keep in mind this half full ramekin wouldn't last a supply of fries from a McDonald's happy meal. More insulting than helpful. Most likely the last time I use this service at this restaurant because what's the point anymore?!? At least a drive through restaurant has the common courtesy to at least correct their mistakes properly instead of being a smart### and bringing enough of a condiment for about 5% of the food. read more

The prices are quite high for the quality of the food. You could probably buy your own grill and some very nice steaks for the cost of a meal for four. My last visit, I arrived about an hour and a half before closing, and was told the first five menu items I asked for were no longer available. My wife and I are regular patrons of the Jackson, TN Outback. Last evening we visited for a meal and as usual, the service was friendly and prompt. I believe our server was Melissa, and she looked after us in an efficient and pleasant manner. The food was good, though my wife's salmon was a bit overcooked. Unfortunately, we were seated in the south side of the restaurant, and the sound system on that side of the facility is obnoxiously loud, and has been that way for months. I once asked if it could be turned down a bit, and was informed that it could not be adjusted. Yesterday was the last monday that qualified for a free "Bloomin' Onion" because Kevin Harvick finished in the top 10 in the Nascar race, so I reminded the server of that and ordered a Bloomin' Onion as an appetizer. After we finished our meal, the check was presented, I gave Melissa my credit card, and paid the bill and the tip, and left. This morning I looked the receipt and realized that I was charged $9.49 plus tax for the free Bloomin' Onion. Blooming onion came out soggy and underbreaded. Waiter told us that this was the way they came sometimes, he's not the cook. Then walked away. Steaks came out slightly over cooked, but tasted like the flat top was not clean. My father stated that it tasted like liver. I opened an outback in kc 18 years ago, and I wish they would train their cooks better now. This has been my second trip to outback in 3 years, due to poor food issues. I will not be back. The potatoes and salad were excellent. So I left 10%. I walk in to a restaurant prepared to tip 20%, it can go up or down depending on experience. read more

I have been to almost every restaurant in Jackson which offers ribeye steak. Outback is the only place I go anymore. About every 2 weeks we go and treat ourselves to a good meal. I still am trying to figure out the bone-in ribeye, which is my favorite. If I order it med-rare it come under cooked, if I order it medium it come overcooked. I guess it depends on who is in the kitchen on any given day. I will ask the name of the cook from now on and maybe figure how to order my steak based on that. read more

The servers are nice, but the owner was a real jerk. I hesitated to write this review since the last one came here to say the same thing, but IT'S TRUE! This guy is a total jerk. Every time we come in he comes over and introduces himself and tells us the owner. The thing is, we come in at least once every week or two and have for a long time. The old owner was much more friendly, and much much less annoying and pretentious. We all get that he's the owner, but he doesn't need to go table to table reminding everyone about how great it is to be him. And yes, the food is a little overpriced for what it is, but you know what you're getting when you buy food from a large chain like Outback, Applebees or something like that. I wish corporate could just fire this guy. He never remembers us, even though we always tell him we met him the week before. He doesn't come to check up on people and make sure they're having a nice time, because if he really cared he would be paying enough attention to remember his patrons when they come back 4 times in 3 weeks. All he cares about is making sure everyone knows how great he is. Oh, and he is always making the servers mad. They know who we are now because we are in so often and they are very open about how frustrating it is to work there now. I would love to post some of the horror stories they have told us about him, but I don't want to get someone in trouble if he reads this.
