I visited Outback Steakhouse after church on a Saturday evening. I was visiting as a part of three and we were greeted by a nice young man with a bright smile. Upon seating, we were greeted by our server Riley. Riley was quick to answer questions we had about how the food was prepared as one of us had dairy allergies. He was very knowledgeable and really cared. Our entrees came out quickly, which varied from a Victoria's filet and Alice Springs Chicken. The steaks were prepared EXACTLY as ordered; something we had issues with during our last visit there. The Alice Springs Chicken was flavorful and tender. Food took over a hour to come out , and waitress took forever to take our order, we were sitting there for 30 minutes before our order was taken. Now we are trying to leave and it's like algebra to figure out receipts we got one receipt and she got it wrong three times. We have now been here 2 1/2 hours. This is not ok read more

I think they are still getting it right. During our visit, at least 4 people came to the table. It was quite confusing. My food came out incorrect twice. Nevertheless, it was corrected and seasoned well. We both had enough for lunch the following day. I'll be back to give them another chance. read more

Went to lunch there on September 23rd and had a horrible experience. My 6 year old grandson was handed a plate that was so hot it blistered his finger tips. The waitress blamed it on the kitchen staff - she used a bunch of napkins to carry the plate and didn't even warn us before she handed it to him. When I complained and suggested a hot plate not be served to children she barely responded. My daughter ordered a salad that had a hair in it. My steak was so bad I couldn't eat half of it because of the grizzle. I mentioned that to the waitress as well with no response. We were not offered to speak to a manager and in hindsight we should have but because of the lack of response we figured it was pointless and we just wanted to leave at that point but of course the machine at the table wasn't working for us to even check out and had to wait for that too. Unfortunately it was not a good experience. We ordered a burger and it came out raw so they gladly exchanged it. By the time the second burger came out I was done eating and we took it to go. Second burger was ordered medium well to prevent any misunderstandings . When we got home burger was RAW???? Not safe. Our server was sweet but hubby waited 10 minutes for ketchup. Sorry OS unacceptable. They did offer to give us money back so we will possibly try at a later date. read more

Tried to give it another chance. So I learned from my last visit and ordered a New York Steak and told the waiter NO SEASONING. also ordered grilled shrimp with it. So the meal came out with coconut shrimp. So right away I sent it back for the grilled shrimp that I ordered. While waiting for the shrimp I started on the steak and once again it had so much seasoning I couldn't eat it. So I sent the steak back for what I ordered. So now if I come back there's a 50/50 chance I'll get what I ordered. They got the Blooming Onion right, I guess you can't mess that up too bad. They use poor cuts of meat and just aren't worth the money they charge. I don't think I'll be back. read more

First off, I'll say it's nice to have another sit-down restaurant in Clayton vs. another fast food restaurant. The restaurant was clean and nicely decorated, with subtle nods to Clayton. The space is quite small inside--much smaller than the Garner location. The staff was friendly, and our waitress was attentive. My only complaint is that the food was a bit bland. If I could leave 0 stars, I absolutely would. Unfortunately, I have to leave at least one star in order to post this review. Tonight my family and I went out for dinner -- yes, we were a party of 16, but that is NOT an excuse for the horrible experience we had. The restaurant was mostly empty, yet we still waited over an HOUR just to receive our food. And honestly? The food was not worth the wait at all. Everything tasted terrible. The food was extremely over-seasoned to the point that it was barely edible. I ordered a $30 steak and it was poorly cooked and disappointing. Every single dish at the table was bad. To make things worse, because we waited so long, all of our drinks turned into melted ice water. When we politely asked for fresh drinks and asked the waitress to take the old cups, she responded with attitude as if we were inconveniencing her for simply doing her job. Terrible food, terrible service, ridiculous wait time, and an overall awful experience. We will definitely not be coming back. read more

The staff here were wonderful. Our waitress was very friendly, talkative, and engaging. She was very complimentary from commenting on my daughter's Fresh Prince earrings to how polite, funny, and mature our almost 9 year old was acting. The gentleman who brought out our items was wonderful, too. Smiling every time, attentive, engaging and all around nice. They both really seemed to care if we had what we needed. It's a nice casual atmosphere like other Outback's. Our little friend wanted to go here because she loved the Boomerang Mozzarella Sticks the last time they came. She wasn't wrong; they are delicious! I enjoyed my steak (made perfectly medium) and potato (could give more toppings on the baked potato but that could be a personal preference), as well. The buffalo hot sauce the runner brought out was a perfect suggestion by him. Very tasty! They all enjoyed their orders, too: ribs, chicken on the barbie, and sweet potatoes. The desserts were demolished, as well (chocolate lava cakes with ice cream). I brought my cheese cake home - my husband said it was tasty, as well. By far our favorite Outback location in our surrounding area. Every experience we have here is better than the last. We dined in today for a late lunch, early dinner and our food was excellent and our server James was super friendly & so attentive. We will definitely be back soon & we will ask for him. I hope to write a better review next time, as this was my first time @ the new Outback in Clayton. The waitress was extremely nice and attentive. We ordered the bread & butter and of course, the Blooming Onion for an appetizer. The bread was flat as if someone sat on it and the butter was not even enough for 2 people. I didn't mention anything about the flat loaf of bread, but I did ask for another container of butter. The waitress brought out a small container that was probably less than a teaspoon. (Ok, I get it... we can hold off the butter). When our Blooming Onion came out, I immediately asked for more dipping sauce, because the size of the Onion is way too large for the amount of dipping sauce they serve. Extra sauce never arrived. I asked for the remaining Onion in a "to go" container with the sauce.. To go plate came, still no dipping sauce. For lunch, I ordered the lunch Sirloin & Salad. When we were served, I got a steak on a plate.. nothing else. I had to ask for my salad, which was nothing to brag about, it was just OK. Lastly, my friend ordered the Cheesecake for dessert. She took one bite & found paper or plastic inside. Ok, so that's enough. I told our waitress what was found and nothing else was mentioned. It was so disappointing to send a steak back 2 x. ...... Ordered medium 8oz, it came more raw than rare, no biggie, they threw it back on the grill and it was hard as a rock and looked like half the size. My husband ate his salad while I ate my meal. My soup was good but my baked potato was hard and cold. They offered to cook another steak- we waited. and waited.That one came about like the first did. At that point we just decided to ask for the check. They comped the meal (thank you) but my husband left hungry..... Popeyes is next door so he ate fried chicken. Severely understaffed. There were at least 10 booths but because they only had a few servers you were forced to sit on the high tables. For someone with back problems being in a high table is not ideal! Very awkward hostess! For a place that JUST opened they should be better staffed. Past 3 visits they got wrong...first two times they seemed apologetic and made right. Last night was horrible. Filet ordered med rare....got something....not Filet well done....looked like chopped steak. Requested butter only on Baked potato.....No Sour Cream....i get a room temp potato with Sour Cream. Went in today at 11:45 with my wife and son. Service has always been amazing here the last few months. Today it took over an hour to get our food and it was cold. At that point we asked for it to be for to go we were over it. Server said manager was going to come speak to us and that never happened. Took them 15 mins to bring the food out. Once I got home part of our meal was missing and when called no one seemed to care at all. Very sad to see a big chain restaurant be so horrible with service. We have been to the Clayton location before and loved it, but yesterday we took family and it was not as expected. Bread came out with a very hard bottom crust, they replaced it. Blooming onion was over cooked, didn't want another one, ice teas were not as ordered and got new ones. One dinner didn't have the bake potato with all the trimming, so they brought a 2nd one, one of the steaks was over done and they had to bring another one. Service was great and waitresses were nice and tried very hard to make things right, it was just frustrating to keep asking for correction of food. Not sure when we will return. We had gone into Outback for a Prime Rib dinner; the server went to the kitchen and confirmed that they had 3 Med Rare servings. After waiting awhile, the Manager came out and stated that they only had one serving of the medium rare, so I told him to give it to my wife and my son and I ordered the Filet I had started to say sixteen ounces when I was reminded it was 6 or 8 ounces, he moved on to my sons order which he said 8 ounces, I commented that makes 2 of them, however he was in a rush and didn't bother to repeat the order like they train the servers. I hadn't seen our server in awhile so I flagged down another management member and said that I believe the Manager put me down as for a 6-ounce, so I told her that the 6-ounce needed to be changed to an 8-ounce. When our meals came out they put the 8-ounce steak in front of me and the 6 ounce in front of my son, which we responded that his was supposed to be an 8 ounce also the server took his back to the kitchen, awhile later the server returned with another steak which looked to be the same one as before when I asked if that was the 8-ounce he replied that it was. The filets had so much seasoning on them that we had to scrape it off and they were still extremely over seasoned, but they were busy, and NO ONE came back to see how they were or if the steaks or Prime Rib was as they should be. We decided to go ahead and eat them anyway. When we had finished our original server came by to remove our plates, and we told her about the steaks, and asked about the Veteran discount, which she said she would get that corrected on the bill, and then said she would pass it on to Mangement about the seasoning. After waiting for a few minutes, I proceeded to pay, on the box on the table. I wrote basically the same review as now and ended it with "If you wanted to discuss it, they could contact me" and left my name and phone number. We were there the weekend of August 15th (it was about a week before my birthday, which is why we went to begin with) and as of today August 30th I still have not heard from anyone. I definitely don't recommend the Clayton, NC location. By the way Outback WAS my favorite restaurant. read more
