Best burger I've ever had in Alabama. Great coffee. This is just an excellent local diner.

Stopped on the way back from the beach and so glad I did. I got the little cheeseburger, which was far from little. Absolutely delicious, not greasy, nice griddled buttered bun, piles of superfresh toppings (the tomato slice looked like it was from Granny's garden). Nashville wishes it had such a fresh, satisfying burger. My son got the country fried steak and licked the plate clean. Said the green beans were the best he's ever had. Lovely staff. Good service. Food and drinks arrive quickly. Large selection of food in menu. The fried crab claws are great! My only complaint so far is the inconsistent grits! 1st time it was a great texture and we ordered more, 2nd time it was thick and stodgy so we didnt even eat it. read more

I don't remember what night of the week we decided to stop in here, but it was packed. Upon walking in, our group of 3 was a little startled by the creepy mannequin standing right at the door, but otherwise, the inside is exactly what you'd expect of a small-town, mom and pop (I can't even say greasy spoon because it's not really) diner. I have to say that I LOVE the minimal decor. It's really obnoxious when 50s diners go overboard with the theme, and Our Place does it well. The menu is fairly generic: breakfast items, burgers, sandwiches, etc. My husband and I split the biscuits and gravy and a shrimp po'boy. In my experience, these sort of places usually go for quantity over quality, and I did not find that to be the case here. The entrees were appropriately sized. The biscuits tasted like they were made from scratch, and the gravy was deliciously peppery. The shrimp in the po'boy were perfectly cooked, and I was pleasantly surprised that they weren't deep fried. We also tried one of the onion rings that our friend got with his meal, and it was excellent! Our server was attentive, the general atmosphere in here was very cheerful and pleasant, the food came out quickly, and our tab for 3 people was under $30. Where to begin, this place is amazing! This has a very hometown feel to it. I had the patty melt and it just melted in my mouth. My husband had the 231 and he said it was amazing! My daughter had the kid's cheeseburger and she ate every bit of it. I had the fresh cut fries and they were phenomenal The folks are amazing, they make you feel very welcome. This is a little country diner that is wonderful! The food is super tasty, fast and fresh. The wait staff are cheerful and reflect true southern hospitality. They support local businesses like the Buffalo farm in Slocum by selling Buffalo burgers. There are positive affirmation type signs on the wall that are reflective of the owner's spiritual affiliations. Nothing fancy here, just good food and friendly people. Fantastic breakfast!! We stopped here on our way to Ohio. Our waitress Deb was very friendly, as were the other customers. The restaurant is clean (including the bathrooms), and service was quick. Deb kept Al's coffee cup topped off. We each got the 2-egg breakfast for $7. The sausage links were quite possibly the best I've ever had. I asked if they were local, and they're from nearby Elba. Delicious!! Our eggs were cooked perfectly and everything we requested "well done" was served that way. We will definitely come back! read more

I stumbled across this great little hole-in-the-wall place in my hometown. I was there getting ready to head to Panama City Beach. Nothing but good old fashioned home cooking. I had the hamburger steak with smashed taters N gravy, fried green tomatoes, cornbread and a roll, I had hard time deciding on which one so the nice lady brought both. The cornbread is skillet fried and I've not had it this way since I grew up on the farm, which by the way is about 4 miles from here. It'll be a new experience for some folks. Everything was good and I especially like the fried tomatoes. Oh and if you're there for lunch, get in early, I was there about 11:15 and by noon it was packed. read more

We love eating at Our Place and prefer it over many of the higher end restaurants in Dothan. They make some traditional southern dishes very well. Everything is made fresh to order and is delicious. The food and service have been top-notch every time we've been. Try out the hamburger steak with gravy and onions. The meat is sourced from the nearby town of Slocomb. Get it with a side of corn nuggets, mashed potatoes, gravy, a biscuit, and honey mustard. Highly recommended! read more

I was in town for business and decided to eat here from the yelp reviews. I was not disappointed. Great food and great service. I had The Grouper sandwich grilled with the fresh cut fries. It was delicious. It was a large thick fillet. If you have fish make sure you try there house made sauce (I think it was called dragon or dragging sauce). I finished things off with a peanut butter milkshake. It was excellent, It had a good peanut butter flavor. So many other places make them and you can barely taste peanut butter. I think the only problem is deciding what to eat. Lots of things to pick from. Where I sat I could see into the kitchen. It was very clean. The hamburgers I saw them preparing looked amazing. Can't wait to go back and try something else. They also have many well priced appetizers. I will have the fried cheese curds next time. read more

Department luncheon with seven hungry folks. We were seated quickly, & our orders were taken almost immediately. The turn-around time was fast. I had the 1/3 lb. buffalo burger, add American cheese & jalapeño slices. The food was well prepared and seasoned. The portions were large (too large), but you definitely get your money's worth. This is a great find! Little kitschy place that made us curious with the half-buried VW outside. The menu has southern favorites and enough diversity to please everyone. We got the double bacon BLT and onion rings. The BLT did not disappoint. The onion rings were the best I've ever eaten. We couldn't finish them, but didn't dare leave them behind! What a great find!! Traveling down the road, we always try to find "local" spots rather than chains. This place was a gem! The pink VW drew us in, the food kept us there. If you pride yourself on being a good human and only support people that feel the same way, I wouldn't recommend. The owner of this restaurant came into the bar I bartend at and within 5 minutes of him being there he began to curse me out and call me absolutely horrible names. I do not know this man, nor does he know me. He came looking for a fight and I almost had to call him the police to get him out. I wish I could give 4.5 stars. Tried the potato cakes and biscuits that everyone raves about; they are right, damn good! I had the cinnamon raisin French toast with perfectly poached eggs and the best bacon of my life. My friend had the chicken parm and said it was great; perfectly cooked chicken and great garlic bread. Every other meal/desert that was carried past us looked great too. The service was excellent and timely. The one complaint I have (and the only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars) was that the salt and pepper shaker tops were DIRTY. I used them anyway but imagine most people would not. I will be back and you should definitely give it a try too! read more

This place is a hidden gem! This is the definition of a mom and pop restaurant. The waitresses are incredibly welcoming and the food is outstanding. Of all the restaurants in the Enterprise, Daleville, Dothan, and Ozark area, this place is the spot chosen by me and all of my friends to be our regular hangout. Every Saturday morning we meet up for breakfast on the patio and every saturday we say how glad we were to find this place. For breakfast I recommend the Country Fried Steak, and MAKE SURE YOU choose the homemade homefries over the hash-browns! There is no better biscut in the south.
