This fun little restaurant is just outside the gates of Fort Novosel and is quite obviously a local favorite. It appears dedicated to serving the local military population and civilian first responders. I really liked that about this place. It was clean and plenty of safe parking. The staff were extremely pleasant and accommodating. It feels family owned and operated but I'm have no idea if that's the actual case. The food is fantastic and gets served quite quickly. It's fresh and hot and the hush puppies are especially good. My only complaint is the entire menu is fried food and I had really hoped to find a broiled salmon or something like that at as "seafood" restaurant. Fried food really isn't my thing and a baked potato and a salad ending up being the bulk of what I ate.

I have to say the fish was not that good but the French fries and hush puppies were great!

Ribeye (12oz) with crispy fries

Delicious Med-Rare Ribeye. The fries (nice and crispy) were recommended over the baked potato and was on point. Salad was gone once it arrived to the table. Was fresh to include the crispy little tomatoes. The roll had a little sweetness but could have been from the butter which was great. Ordered a side of Hush Puppies for a starter as well. Would have been nice with a beer but the store does not have a liquor licenses. Sweet tea was the go to here.

Yes Got to have those Shrimp!!!

My husband loves their liver & onions, I love the shrimp. Whenever we are in Daleville we have to stop by. And we will be there soon.

Fantastic, traditional family style food and dining. Amazing fried fish, in a casual environment. Wish I lived closer to go more often!

Grits made from scratch where all you need to eat is a spoon - perfect every time. This is our go to place every trip we make a trip to Eufaula! service is exceptional - Bernard is just a sweet person and if you are lucky, Ms Barb brings you your dish personally!

The service here is a little weird and jarring at first. I hadn't gone more than 10 feet through…read morethe door when I was asked "What'll you have to drink?" You just have to know the procedure, but it wasn't only me, a Northerner whose brain hadn't yet fully recalibrated for the local accent. Locals were confused too. Procedure is this: tell them your drink preference (I had water), pick up a tray, put it on the counter, pick out a main, three sides, a dessert, slide it down to the register, pay, and take it to your table. At that point do you begin eating? No! Remove your items from the tray and they come by and pick it up. Now begin! You may be thinking "Soup Nazi" from Seinfeld but I assure you it didn't feel that way. Just the quirky way they run the place. The waitress did warm up after I was there a while, came over to ask where I was from, etc. And to try to convince me to come back for breakfast! This is cafeteria style, with everything prepared ahead of time and kept warm on steam trays. So how do they keep that fried chicken so crunchy and delicious? Perhaps the best I've ever had, the batter so crunchy you could probably hear me eating from another room, assertively peppery, the large leg and thigh pieces perfectly cooked and juicy. (White meat also available.) My sides were lima beans, turnip greens, and yams. The highlight was the yams: super sweet but not in a bad way, balanced by good seasonings. The beans were fine, a bit salty. The only disappointment were the turnip greens, too finely chopped and overcooked. The portion sizes were decent. Also included is corn bread. Two choices: baked or fried. Never heard of fried so I tried that. Interesting but a little chewy and not so much corn flavor; next time I'd get the baked. Finishing this rather large lunch was a challenge for me but I managed, while taking in the local ambience. I saved the dessert for later. Dessert? Yes. I was also asked on ordering what I wanted for dessert. The only one that appealed was the red velvet cake (the others were a cobbler and bread pudding) so I got that. I assumed it was included but when I paid I saw it was not. $4; no big deal. It didn't look that good, a thin 1 inch slice tightly shrink wrapped on a paper plate. Looks were deceiving. The first time I actually liked red velvet cake, a light crumbly texture and cream cheese frosting that tasted of more than sugar. With the amount of frosting this tiny slice was quite filling and I'm glad it wasn't larger. All this for a little over $21. I think this was including tip but I'm not positive. Either way, great deal!
