best fried chicken I ever had! omg the food was fresh and good and made with love! I will be stopping there every time I travel south!

I ate here a couple years ago on the way to the beach. The staff were very friendly and made a great atmosphere. The food was a different experience, everything had a slimy or gross quality to it. There were several flies in the restaurant, which made it a battle to even eat our food. This could be a fluke experience, and I am willing to try it again one day. PS: I would much rather small businesses like this stay open than just have fast food slop in town. So if you are in the area, go support them! read more

Don't let the appearance fool you. It's a small hole in the wall with wonderful food!! We stopped by here on our way back home from vacation. The inside isn't fancy and I did make me a little nervous but from the moment we walked in we were greeted and felt the small town welcome. We started with cheese sticks and fried green tomatoes. OMG the tomatoes were slap your mama good! I don't even like tomatoes but I couldn't stop eating these! And there were a lot on the plate. The breading was just so full of flavor. The cheese sticks were soo cheesy. Everyone in my family had the Busto burger except me, I had the fried chicken hot plate with mashed potatoes w/ brown gravy and cabbage, cornbread puffs. We were warned the burgers were big and yeah they were! Big & juicy! They all loved their burger and the onion rings as well as sweet potato fries. My fried chicken was finger licken good! We from KY and this chicken would make Col. Sanders (KFC) ashamed of what's being served. Granny's serve the true southern down home cooked fried chicken!! The cabbage was perfectly cooked and the mashed potatoes/gravy was the perfect complement to it all. I didn't care for the cornbread puffs as they were deep fried and not actual cornbread. Didn't taste bad, just a preference thing I highly recommend giving this place a try! We have made a note to stop by after every vacation! PAPER in my chicken tender and i didn't realize till i was already home and eating it. this is disgusting.

Ordered the 13 ounce ribeye to go. Service was excellent. Steak was ordered, medium rare, but was cooked well done. It wasn't terrible. In fact, it was still decent, but it wasn't prepared the way I ordered it. Not even close. But I would like to underscore that the staff was very attentive and if I would've been staying there to eat it, I would've mentioned it and I'm sure they would've replaced it and made it right. Stopped here on the way back from PCB and was not disappointed. Everything was perfect! We ordered wings and onion rings as appetizer and WOW! Food so fresh and cooked just right. Me and my husband had bacon cheeseburgers with fries as an entree. Yum! Our son had mashed potatoes and chicken nuggets, let me tell you I expected frozen like most place, nope! These were hand battered so delicious! My mom ordered country fried steak, it was huge and delicious. I highly recommend this place! Oh and the price for all of us under $50! One of the Great places in the area is Granny's Dinner.., Man don't I enjoy the variety of foods they have on the menu their. Barbecue Riblets , Hometown favorite that great tasting recipe Ganny never tried to hide, though share it with the world.. We had planned to stop for breakfast after we headed north out of Panama City Beach, but the GPS took us on beautiful back roads where drive throughs were non existent. At 1:30 we find ourselves in beautiful downtown Samson and looked in every direction for a fast food sign but saw none. In front of us was a very nondescript building with a sign for Granny's Diner. Concerned it might be another hour before we saw a restaurant we recognized, we parked and went in. Mostly booth seating and they were homemade maybe 20 years ago. Everything there looked homemade. Their hot food bar was open and the price was $8.99 for your choice of meat, 2 sides, bread and dessert $9.99 adds one more side. Deb chose breaded pork chops (never heard if them but they looked good, with mashed potatoes, sweet potato casserole and corn bread. I ordered fried chicken, mashed potatoes with gravy and summer squash. Every bite of both meals was delicious ! I seriously considered ordering another meal, not because I was hungry but because it was so darn good! We both really enjoyed our meals! Next year I want to plan our trips so we can try Granny's for dinner on the way south and breakfast on our way back north. Can't wait! read more

Well, we were disappointed. Stopped in on New Year's Eve at 12:30 for lunch buffet. But there was almost no food. No sweet potato casserole, not but a handful of black eyed peas. I got one piece of baked chicken which was good, and my husband ate one piece of fried chicken. There were mashed potatoes that were okay, but here's the thing: I went back 30 minutes later and there was still no fresh food on hot bar. I took a piece of fried chicken and it was bloody in the middle. I asked about the hot bar being refilled and was told they would get to it. Well, they didn't and we won't be back. read more

Stopped here on the way home from Panama City beach. Excellent service. Sweet tea is sweet...really sweet. Didn't order buffet. Fried chicken looks great. They have salad,baked chicken, beef chunks, rice, gravy, limas, squash, scallop potatoes were empty and not refilled for some time. Biscuits. Fried corn bread. We ordered off menu. Place like this with the grill in place for years has to have good burgers. Onion rings are home made. Sliced and battered here. Granny's buster, double cheeseburger and regular cheeseburger both are excellent. We recommend this place and will come back on our way thru again. read more

Stopped at Granny' s for lunch on Sept.30,2018. We saw many vehicles, so we assumed it might be a good place to eat. The Sunday buffet lunch was Excellent!! The staff was friendly and provided great service! The price of the buffet was incredible, particularly considering all of the selection! read more

Best food ever! Service was excellent, price very reasonable. We stopped because it was convenient and ended up finding a gem.

We also found this place at lunchtime returning to Ohio from Panama City Beach. My wife and I got the buffet (which we usually never do). The other six in our family all ordered off the menu. The kids got ice cream as we left. The food was hot, fresh, tasty and plentiful for the price. The service was friendly... but the place could probably use a new sound system for a little background music. And... the bathrooms need a little updating. But, for a really decent 'country' meal, this is a great little off-the-beaten-path place to go. read more
