Stopped into Ottos deli when a note on the door caught my eye. I purchased 3 meats a blueberry muffin from the many different kinds to choose from, and a bag of fresh Unique shell pretzels. Place is clean,server friendly. I saw a sign on the inside of the counter ( see pix) noting if one buys a cup at one of two delis the refills are 2.00 dollars.I also saw a few very pretty ornaments as a miniature coffee grinder. Run don't walk to Otto's. Old school classic deli feel with prompt service, and clean cut staff. I love the ties and how they made that part of the identity. Hard to beat the bacon egg and cheese. Love Otto's. read more

The food at Otto's is always excellent. My family frequents this deli. Today my husband had the ciabatta mac daddy, I had the buffalo chicken panini, and my son had the little league. All of our sandwiches were delicious. The staff at Otto's are also very kind every time we go in. There is never a long wait since they have many employees who are ready to help. All I wanted was a BECSPK instead, I got 23 minutes of this whacko going off about Joe Biden. Listen man, you're a white middle class home owner from Long Island. You drive a pick up truck. We know who you voted for and it could have been Jesus coming back and running as a democrat you'd hate him too. Biden ain't special, it just ain't your guy. But please, for the love of GOD, I do not care nor wanna hear or see your one personality trait posted while I'm waiting for a mediocre bagel. Stop blaming Biden for your problems. Your vendors raised their prices on you just because. Why did they do this? Because they knew you'd blame Biden instead of them. I mean I'd raise my prices on my film editing for major studios if I knew they would pay up and then blame the Nassau comptroller lololool. Anyway, take your own advice when it comes to NFL players and stick to what you know. Which is cooking 3/10 breakfast sandwich and refilling the coffee once a week. I was on my way to the wantagh library, had some studying to bang out. I just left work and needed to grab food asap. I hate giving new delis a shot to be honest, I stopped at the nearest deli I could find. I figured it was hit or miss... whole staff was cool, down to earth, polite. Chicken cutlet hero's are not easy to master. I don't fake my reviews... I don't get paid for leaving a review, I do it to return respect, for good service. Food was a 9.5 out of 10 easy. Ottos has lost all the "old school" deli charm. They nickel and dime you for every ingredient. They have taken total advantage of "inflation". I understand there is inflation... then there is gouging... I've been a loyal customer for almost 20 years. The other day I got lunch for my family of 4. $80 for 4 sandwiches , 4 drinks, 4 chips and half gallon of milk. 2 years ago that was a $40 ish bill. I had a reciept printed.. It was $7.80 for the sandwich... then charged $2 for the hero bread! whats the sandwich? The cold cut? Itemized tomato... Itemize lettuce? Cheese was added extra. 2 bucks for the bread? Isnt that what makes a sandwich a sandwich. $2.59 for a small bag of chips. Charged for a credit card. I used to go to Ottos 3 or 4 times a week.. I love the food, and still do... but now I go once a month.. Ottos Im truly not interested in your reasons why... In 2 years you have gone up almost 100%. I know inflation is historical... But you have added on top of that...You took a hometown old school deli... and you got greedy. You will still make your profits .. Im only 1 customer. I knew when you took over how this would play out... There use to be a John Thiessen jug for donations.... you replaced it with a tip jar! That in itself sent a message. Milk us for more! Enjoy my $80 a month instead of my $500 a month. Shame on you. ps. I know Mark from theold Ottoswould donate at least a couple thousand dollars a year from the donation jar. Every town in America should be lucky enough to have an "Ottos" Deli. Yes... perhaps I'm biased but I don't think so. I've been coming here for decades. Always... Before the beach. It's just a right of passage if you grew up in Wantagh. Rating is based upon 1) quality of food 2) customer service No better sandwich. Everything is always very fresh. I enjoy the rolls... Crusty on the outside & soft on the inside. Every sandwich whether it's an egg or a roast beef.. Just exactly what you would expect & hope for when you bite into a sandwich. Customer service.... Ottos is hands down the best deli in the wantagh area. This local staple serves great sandwiches, dishes, salads, and catering all from well dressed deli clerks. They moved from their original location a few years ago so everything in the store is brand new and clean. Their egg sandwichs are great and their homefries are a nice addition to any breakfast sandy. Lunch wise their major league hero is great as well as any other cold cut sandwich or panini. All sandwiches offer a nice amount of meat and are served on fresh rolls or heros. They also have some great salads which are all homemade on site by their cook karen!! Not many delis these days have homemade salads but ottos does. I personally like their macaroni salad, coleslaw, chicken salad, and broccoli salads the best. Salads are great for summer bbqs. Their homemade ice coffee and pink lemonade are also great. read more

I've been a customer of Otto's for over 30 years before Mark Scofield sold it. I just left there after ordering a tuna fish sandwich. While I'm waiting for the sandwich to be made I'm calculating the price of the sandwich I ordered with prices posted on the board which should have been $7.95 with a $3.98 mac salad. I paid $14 and then asked about the price and was told that the computer prices have been changed and they are waiting for the new signs. I tried to explain that they shouldn't charge more until updated prices are posted. The guy behind the counter was less than cordial and suggested that I "take it up with he owner". Don't need to, in the future I'll go to my other stand-by deli - Beck's. read more

The place use to be good. Now they use one day old bread for their sandwiches. The salads in the case are a least one week old. They don't throw their salad out after a couple of days. I would reframe from the chicken cutlets they sit in the walk-in for at least a week or more. Pretty much the staff that is there is good. read more

We went to Otto's after a day at Jones Beach. My brother in-law recommended it since he's from Wantagh and it did not disappoint. We ordered a sandlot I think, it was the Italian combo and a chicken cutlet sandwich. The Italian combo was legit. Excellent hoagie, fresh cuts of meat, good size and portion too. The Chicken cutlet was alright, not the best but still very filling. I definitely prefer the cold cut sandwiches here over the cutlet sandwiches. Otto's was very busy, parking lot was jammed pack, the only small downside of coming to Otto's, it's cash only I believe. Other than that, Otto's is a great stop before or after a day at the beach. read more

I said why is it a dollar or more than the other day and he says because I have to charge u for the ice!!!!!! I proceed to tell him the drink I just got was not that cold!!!! Great local deli. They are one of the few local deli's that still make many of the items fresh daily. Their macaroni salad, cole slaw and potato salad are all fantastic. The German potato salad is my husbands favorite. Authentic German potato salad, yum. My favorite is their rice pudding. They also make their chicken salad fresh daily. There are large pieces of real chicken, not a big mush like its tuna salad. They also make this kringle cake, that is a buttery delight. I have been coming to Otto's on the weekly lately cause im pretty much addicted to their iced tea Im pretty sure there is crack in it. Their german butter kringle is the SHIT. so tasty and good. I got their burger special the other day and its a steal for 6.99$. the burger is HUGE im pretty sure its a bubba burger but i don't give a shit it was really good. FF were meh. I also got the "homemade" meatballs which def weren't homemade and not good. Stay clear. The homemade Dave's pickles are really good and spicy. I want to try their "famous" meatloaf but by the time i get their its usually sold out. They also have munchos which i love and never see around anymore. All in a all a solid deli.
