Stopped by for a quick snack since the name sounded legit and even reminded me of the now long-gone Otto's Bier Hall. On this late summer outing most people were outside, so the place was pretty quiet when I came in. I ordered the Veal and Lamb Teller and it came out fast. Despite the aged interior, the food itself was a pleasant surprise. The meat was juicy, sauces balanced, and it was fun to try bites both with and without the sauces. Having it over fries instead of the usual rice was a nice change too, and I really liked how the meat was sliced differently from the usual shaved style which gave more texture in each bite. Honestly, when I'm in Kensington it's usually for Birria tacos, but this spot is now a real contender. I'll probably struggle to choose between them next time. read more

Well it has been like 10 years since I was here last and it has gone downhill... Not sure if there was an ownership change or what, but everything is a bit run down looking. The facilities need some investment... Service is still prompt and friendly and the kitchen does appear to be clean and kept. Food is decent... I remember it being better, but that could also just be my rose-colored memories. Not sure I would recommend the famous bathrooms anymore, but in a way they have more of a feel from Berlin now. read more

A main establishment in the culinary diverse area that is the Kensington market. Otto's brings a germain flair to the area by offering currywursts and doners. I've been to this place a couple times and they have been consistent with their boxes. Would definitely recommend for tourist and locals! Halloumi box - Although not a doner, halloumi is a middle eastern cheese I've fallen in love with recently. It has a chewy tough bouncy texture and very salty flavour. This is contrasted with the crispiness and fluffiness of the fries. In terms of flavour you have the saltiness from the cheese and a mix of mayo and hot sauce. A small box was sufficient for me as the fried ingredients made it super heavy. My friend had the lamb box. Lamb was tasty (maybe too salty as you want the lamb flavour to come out as well). At the end there was a lot of oil remaining in the bottom of the lamb box, so it would be even more heavy. Passionfruit lychee slushie - Worked really well as a summer drink and counteracted the heaviness from the fries and cheese. The ice in the slushie is very interesting as its not very fine, instead it was rather chunky and round making it feel like a peculiar texture. The big chunks also meant that as you drink from the straw, you get more of the juice than the ice, so I'd recommend consuming with a fork. This establishment is on the pricey side and on the heavy side, so its less of a regular affair. For me, it is a once in a while kinda thing, but I would highly recommend! read more

Oh I love Otto's one of my fav doner places and it's located right at Kensington Market. I've been here a few times and this is the first time I opted for the vegan/vegetarian version. I got the gemuse box, which is eggplant and veggies and my partner got the haloumi doner. It looks just as good as it tastes. However, I did find my gemuse box (eggplant and veggies) left me a bit peckish afterwards. My box was mixed with fries. The doner may be a better option because it comes with the breading that may keep you fuller. I'm not vegetarian, but I think some vegan/vegetarian-friendly protein doner style options would be great to make the meal more filling. I had no issues with it being filling when I order the meat versions in the past. read more

Even worst than I remember! I came here about five years ago and despite the high rating but I was not impressed. But today I figured I wanted something new so I would tried agian. And it was a lot more worst. I ordered and I was surprised that it was ready within a few min. But I found out why. It way too salty and the chicken was not fresh. Like some restaurants who hire lazy employees they would cut the chicken the chicken from the spit and leave it there till a new order then reheat it. When I ate it it was barely warm and the fries were also not fresh. Maybe from another order? There is not enough veggies or sauce to have different flavour. This is really bad. Think they just stopped proper training and proper quality control. Just disgusting. Don't even waste your time and money. Worst meal I had in months or this year and I eat out often. read more

//5 stars for great food Quick and filling. What else would you need from a restaurant? It's a Doner restaurant with a ode to German cuisine. Like most kebab restaurants it caters mostly for take-outs and deliveries. However, they have some tables available to consume there - it is a small establishment. Their menu has Doner, Teller or bratwurst for main entrée - depending on your liking. I got the small Lamb teller on salad with yogurt and hot sauce to mimic the kebab trucks in NYC. I highly recommend the small serving as it filled me up for the rest of the day of walking. The meat was greatly seasoned, the yogurt balanced out the hot sauce. As you can see from the picture posted, the size of the box is small but it's packed with food. The salad was fresh and helped fulfill the whole dish. I recommend this choice. It took approximately 5-10 minutes to get my take-away. They give you paper napkin and fork. This is a great choice for a quick lunch if you're about to walk and explore the city. read more

They do have many types of alcohol - beer, cider and wine, which sets them apart from the competition. Got the Chicken Doner. You probably shouldn't bother with the fries option, since they're stuffed into the doner instead of served separately (which among other things means they get soggy very fast). The meat was very good - very fragrant & pretty moist, and the bread was nice and crispy. The doner was light on the sauces, though. That said, this place is pretty pricey for what you get, and you can get other good doners for less. While the paper holder for the doner (just like what you'd get in Germany, or indeed much of Europe) is a nice touch, it doesn't quite justify the price. read more

I absolutely love this place! Will definitely come back again! The donair bread is fresh and thin! The meat is very juicy and flavourful. I also like the fact that the place serves alcohol! The only thing I didn't like was the cleanliness of the place. Even though it's self-service, some people did not clean up after themselves and the staff failed to check on the patio. I had never tried a donër before visiting Otto's but I became obsessed! My coworker convinced me to try it out and after a stroll through Kensington we made a stop and found a spot to eat on the patio. We both ordered a chicken döner, shared a side of fries and drinks, I had an alcoholic slush. The donër itself was bursting with flavour, I don't think I've had anything as delicious at its price point. It's quite hidden in Kensington and you could miss it if you weren't looking, but this is a MUST TRY if you are curious about trying something new. If you're in Kensington Market and need a washroom break, you must stop by Otto's Berlin Doner. They have two single toilet washrooms that sport speakers, a disco ball and strobe lights. The party starts when you push the large colored button on the wall. After you do your business, take a minute and get your boogie on. TIP: each bathroom has a different set up and each time you push the button a different song plays. Yes I visited both bathrooms and pushed the button a couple of times LOL! Now don't forget to purchase something for the use of their washroom, remember they don't have to allow you to use it if you're not a customer. I would recommend their Halloumi sticks. Halloumi is a "semi-hard, unripened, brined cheese made from a mixture of goat's and sheep's milk." It comes with a scrumptious garlic aioli that's made in house. read more

We decided to eat our way through Kensington Market. This was our first stop. Split a chicken doner with all the sauces and all the fixings in a warm pressed pita. Chicken was crazy good, lots of it. So coming down the food.I loved loved their idea of serving donars on this thin split open bread which kind of reminds me of an Afghan sangak unlike in a plain old pita.I chose the veal and lamb donar, for me the sandwich was just perfect with all its generous toppings and sauces but I felt the meat lacked flavor and was too thinly sliced.Maybe next time I shall try another meat.The highlight to my meal were their fries, almost tasted like homemade fries-they weren't overly crispy but were very flavorful. We decided to walk to Kensington Market and eat here. The head chef was at the counter. He was very sweet and recommended what we should order. Been wanting to try this place out for awhile and since I was in the Kensington area, today was the day. Ordered the chicken teller (9.50 for a small) fries, with all three sauces on top! I would give this place a 3.5/5. The meal was overall good. But I feel like I would definitely need to try more options on the menu to give a better overall rating of this establishment. The atmosphere was awesome, and the decor makes the place very hip. It was pretty busy but we managed to get a table.
