We stopped by German Doner Kebab for a quick snack and mostly chose it because of the name. It turned out better than expected. I had the Mix Doner Rice Bowl and while I wish the portion was a little bigger, the balance of the sauces was good and both the meat and rice were well seasoned and prepared. The place itself was clean and the clerk was helpful with our questions without any fuss, which I appreciated. For the name, I have had better kebabs in Germany, but I like how they take cues from there and give it a slightly different spin here. This place is a hidden gem! We had a burst of energy one night and went out for a long walk. On our way home, we stopped in German Doner Kebab (GDK)... what a great stop. We ordered a Kebab Sandwich and some poutine for my son. The poutine had chicken and gravy and melted cheese curds, he said it was mid compared to other poutine he has had. The sandwich was awesome. It made my "best food of 2024" list. The sandwich was doner meat, lettuce, tomatoes, onion, red cabbage and three sauces on toasted waffle bread. It was so good. So, Doner it is for a midnight snack -- an homage to a trip I did way back when in England. I went w/ the traditional. The beef was long gone, but the chicken didn't disappoint since it wasn't dry. The sandwich itself was huge including all the Doner toppings. It looked totally legit. However, a couple of disappointments. First, the bread was kinda weird. It felt mass produced. The original has a generous portion of sliced Doner and veggies packed in a grilled crepe-bread hybrid. The bread is very unique, and nothing like I've had before. It's dense while being toasty, thin but holds up to the three sauces that you can drizzle over it, textured but chewy in a good way. Highly recommend trying it out! The salad and fries box was a great deal as you get a mound of salad with a large portion of Doner. Good for those looking for a healthier option. This place was recommended by the Airbnb I am staying at. Super delicious! The chicken was moist. The garlic sauce was dynamite!! Next time I would ask for only that and not get the other two sauces. The food is delicious, and I can see myself rinsing and repeating. I'm eyeing that kcal kebab for something healthier for next time. I didn't expect I'd like the spring roll as much as I do. It's original and has some of the kebab meat in there. Fries were crispy though what is most unforgettable is the signature sauces that elevate the doner further. They gave three types for each meal ordered. We ordered for takeout, and I like the solid packaging. The place is bright and sleek. The service was just a tad slower than expected (when I went a couple of months ago), given it is fast food. I ordered the original diner kebab with a mix of beef and chicken. Other than the color difference in the meats, I can't say I can tell much of a difference in flavour between the two, albeit they were both delicious. It came in a thin waffle print wrap and heaps and heaps of meat and toppings. With the sauces, which I used for dipping, this sandwich was SO good! I absolutely love German döner kebab. As a German, I'm really glad I found this place. While it's not 100% like at home, it's a legit German kebab in and of itself (if that makes sense). Why is it white? I went back and asked why is this white, I didn't order chicken, she said it's beef. It tasted "beef flavored", this is nothing like what you would get at any German or true Doner Kebab places. Bottom line: Decent food, absurdly slow service. We live close to German Diner Kebab and have been going quite a few times recently. Once you enter, you can tell that it's a brand new establishment that's trying to elevate what a diner kebab should be. The restaurant itself is very clean with nice seating and plenty of seats. The menu variety is good, allowing you to get boxes, wraps, and a plenty of sides as well. But the service...oh the service..is SO SO slow. Every time we go there, we ask for a simple box or wrap with no modifications. No matter how crowded they are, it takes anywhere from 20-35 minutes for the order to be made. The glass window gives you a peek at what's happening behind the scenes, despite having 5 and more staff in the kitchen, it is ridiculously slow to get something as simple as putting lettuce and shaved meat together in a box. It's unfortunate that the food is actually decent, but takes so long to prepare that I rather have not ordered in the first place. In comparison with Oh My Gyro next door, which can prepare something in less than 10 minutes tops. read more

Especially if you have leftovers, easy to grab and go. The chicken was moist and tender. Thin strips of chicken coming with the different sauces. The red sauce is the best. Like a sweet and spicy ketchup with a seasoning I couldn't identify but delicious nonetheless. There is also a cream sauce that had dill in it. For the dill overs, have at it. I had the big box meal which includes Original German Doner Kebab (mixed chicken and beef) with 2 spring rolls (chicken and beef), fries, 3 dipping sauces and 1 bottle drink coke zero. Total was around $23 which is fair since they give you lots of food. Definately worth it. The doner kebab was mouth watering and the best thing about this restaurant. The spring rolls were ok at best. The only downside is that they do noy have combos, only big box meals. So if u want doner kebab, fries and drink then you will have to pay for each item Separately and came to a total of $22 which was pricey. So go for the big box meal instead for $1 extra. Was on my way to Rogers Centre to see the Yankees (first trip up here in over 2 years..). Instead of the classic Toronto Street Meat (stop giggling you dirty bird!) I was perusing some of the United Nations dining on Queen West near my hotel and found the German Doner Kebab. Apparently this is a chain with a couple of locales back in Gotham/NYC... the shawarma/kebob thing is great late night food in Montreal/Ottawa/Toronto after an evening of liver pickling (I learned this in college in Northern NY on the Canadian border and spent many weekends in the aforementioned cities). I got the chicken...thin sliced and actually quite a huge offering in the unique waffley type wrap. The three sauces that come with it are quite good...a garlic, yogurt, and spicy sweet/hot ketchupy idea. Really quite a bargain (along with the exchange rate which as of this writing was .78 cents on the US dollar...). Hopefully this will catch on in other locales in the US besides NYC... read more

It does seem to lack some of the flare of good doner in Europe, but have been twice now and it was really good once and just okay the other time.
