To be honest, if i came and saw a sign for a roast pork on a stick for $5.50 plus tax then sure this place would be good but it definitely isn't geek souvlaki. It was very plain. Taking a star off for the flack of flavor. Took 30 minutes to have 3 pork skewers to have our order ready. It took way too long. Didn't feel very welcomed. Taking off a star for that. The ambiance is a hole in the wall casual eatery with.very few tables and pretty dirty at that. We decided to eat it at the nearby main square sitting near Alexander the Great bust. read more

Wow this greek spot right around the corner of Pape station really hits the spot. Ginormous portions! We had the chicken souvlaki dinner and it was cooked to perfection, no dry meat. We could easily share the chicken dinner between the two of us. This is a mostly a takeout joint but there are a few tables inside as well a small outdoor seating area as well. Nothing fancy at all. But be warned those pigeons outside are relentless, you might have to shoo them a few times away. read more

Ok so it's Greektown and you have plenty of options in the area to get your pork and chicken gyro fix, but if you're looking for taste with value, then you cannot go wrong with Souv Like. Add the fact that they open early and remain open late? Cant think of any options that are better. I've had their gyro sandwiches plenty of times and they've always managed to be good consistently. They are very generous with the chicken or pork filling, the meat is never dry, but tender and moist with the perfect amount of crispy charred bits that really locks in that flavor element. I always get mine with fries, and the sauce really brings the sandwich together. It's a small space so it may be a better option for takeout, but when the weather is good they do put out seating on the curbside. My mouth is watering writing this review, so I'm off to Souv Like. read more

Great value and great portions, no wonder Souv Like is so popular amongst the locals. I like that the restaurant is literally right across the street from the Pape Station, so I didn't have to walk very far in the cold. The restaurant serves many traditional Greek plates and wraps. I got the Mix Kontosouvli Dinner, which came with pork and chicken with fries, pita, and veggies. The portion was massive and it was enough for 2 people! Quarantine Day 9: It would be wrong if I didn't get any Greek food during my stay along the Danforth. There are so many things that stood out to me. The prices are very reasonable. My entire meal for 2 people including tax, tip, and UberEats delivery fee was less than $50. That's pretty good right?? Some other positives the portion sizes and the fact that they do not go easy on the meat! I always worry about getting chicken souvlaki because it's so easy to overdo it and for it to turn out dry. This one was great - big juicy chunks of meat that were tender and seasoned perfectly. This was inside of a wrap that also had tomatoes, onions, fries (important!!), and sauce. The fries were somehow still crispy when they got to me. If you haven't had fries in a wrap before, you definitely need to try it. It manages to add more carby goodness on top of the pita its nestled in. I shared a small gyro poutine with my boyfriend. I want to say it was 50/50 meat and fries and slathered with sauce. There was also some feta cheese mixed throughout. There might have been a tiny bit too much sauce for me. The gryo meat was very tasty though. It wasn't very thinly shaved like how I normally see gyro meat, it was more like thin chunks. Lastly my boyfriend had a large Greek Salad with rotisserie chicken. The entire top layer of the salad was big chunks of succulent chicken. The rest of the salad was fresh and dressed in a light vinaigrette. He's not really a salad kind of guy but it received his blessing so I'll take it as a win! read more

I was pleasantly surprised to find a gyro wrap that reminded me of my time in Greece! Look no further than Souv Like if you've had the authentic wrap in Greece. My sister and I went around 1pm on a Wednesday, there was a very short line to order and we received our food in no time. We both had the chicken gyro wrap with all the toppings, which included onions, tomatoes, fries, and of course the beloved tzatziki sauce. The portion was huge just like in Greece, which I was also a fan of. There were a few small tables at the front of the restaurant, but it feels like more of a quick takeout place. You can take your food to a park nearby and enjoy on a nice summer day! Although the price cannot compare to wraps in Greece (~$2 each!!), Souv Like's price was super reasonable (2 wraps for ~$15) considering how big the portion is and how delicious it is. It is a hundred percent worth driving down to get this wrap versus spending a similar amount of money on a smaller wrap closer to home that doesn't taste as good. I definitely hope to be back sometime in the future, I just wished I lived closer to the Danforth to eat this more often. read more

Souv Like is a good name for a pun (souvlaki), but it is also a serious understatement if I said I only 'liked' my experience here. It's too bad 'love' can't fit into a pun with the food served here, because that's how I felt about my meal here. In fact, the Greeks have 4 words for love to convey the different expressions of it, and maybe that would be more apt to begin the range of feelings I have for this place - well, maybe not 'eros'. The service here as others mentioned is not necessarily friendly, but let's call it 'stoic' since we're talking about Greeks (and the place is definitely Greek-run). Basically it's pretty functional which is all I need to get this delicious food served in a hole-in-the-wall restaurant. Both my wife and I ordered the pork Gyro wrap. It's altogether quite simple: fresh pita (likely from a local bakery) which is grilled and then having the pork, onions, fries, and tzsaziki added on. The portion size is indeed huge, and though there isn't a lot of room to eat, I still suggest you find a space as it would be next to impossible to eat on the go. It's the type that you have to unwrap as you eat as the wrapper actually holds it together since the pita only partially encloses it. Naturally, the freshness of the pita and the authentic tzsaziki (which is very garlicky) were important to the quality of it all, but it ultimately comes down to the pork which was INCREDIBLE. I'm not even overstating it when I say that, since it was the best rotisserie-style pork I've ever had - easily. Beyond that, I'd rank it right near the top out of any rotisserie-style meat I've had. It was that good. Aside from the freshness and quality of it, the key to the taste was that perfect sear and crunch on every single piece given. They also have a perfect ratio of meat to fatty pieces, and since it's so perfectly cooked the fatty pieces are not chewy in any way, but pure savoury goodness. The fries are pretty good inside of it, but I may next time ask for just a few since the wrap is just so damn big. My wife opted for no fries at all, and it looked as though she even got more meat as a result - but I can't guarantee that will be the result each time. I could go on even longer, though I literally only ordered a single wrap. It just illustrates how good it was and the only downside is that I'm ruined as most other comparable places are just not even in the same league as them. read more

Finally was in the area to give Souv Like a try. My bf and I are always looking for the best gyro in the GTA and when I saw pics of Souv Like, I was like "oh, we gotta go here". The first good sign was the people working there were actually Greek. It's a very small shop with 2-3 tables inside and 2 tables outside. You first give one man your basic order. 2 gyros. Then you give someone else the details of your order. Mine of course being, a pork gyro with no onions and my boyfriend a mix chicken and pork gyro. These things were HUGE. I think I only ate 1/3 of mine and I was full. They do pack it with all the fixings which means they don't really wrap it pretty tight, which kind of makes it hard to eat. I ended up eating most of the fries off the top and then digging in. The meat was a tad salty and the tzatziki a little too garlicky. This was disappointing as the gyro looked very promising. Don't get me wrong, if this was the first gyro I've ever tried, I probs would think it's great. However, I have so many places to compare this to, in the GTA AND Greece (which obvz, you cant compete) that it fell short. I most likely won't come back and will continue to explore all the options on Pape and the Danforth. read more

Do not be deterred by the corny business name, this is the real deal! The chicken wrap for around $10 is amazing. Chicken, tzatziki, charred pita, some tomato and onion -- what else could you want? This place is always packed with customers lining up inside and sometimes even outside. Very frequently you see cars stopped along the street on Pape to order/pick up food. I can see why though. Quick service, generous portions and open late. I ordered a mixed Gyro plate, which came with a decent portion of both beef and chicken gyro, a pita, fries, onions, tomatoes and tzatziki. The chicken gyro was fresh off a new spit so definitely came at a good time. Fries were still crispy, tomatoes and onions tasted crisp and fresh, and the pita was very soft and warm. Sorry. No pictures as I already ate it all. I'm writing this review laying down and handicapped from being so stuffed. Probably out of commission for the remainder of the night but thought I write a review while I still can. Will probably downgrade my order next time unless I'm feeling extremely hungry. read more

Wow, just discovered this place since Messini was closed during Covid-19, I called in advanced to order and within 10 min, the food was ready to be picked up. I ordered the mix plate (~$15)with pork & chicken and was blown away by how reasonable and big the portions were ! Went there today for first time with my son. Heard good things about it so I was very excited to try it and compare it to my favorite gyro spot which is downtown. First impression, the 2 guys that worked there looked like they were serving a jail sentence! Not happy, not welcoming and not friendly at all. Not expecting them to roll out red carpet for me but for God sake, smile! Maybe if I was Greek like the customers that came in after me I would've got a hello or "teekanis". Ordered 2 chicken and pork gyro with everything on them. They were ok at best, nothing to salivate over. Both my son and I ate every bite but we both looked at each other and said that this gyro was not even close in taste to our spot downtown. When I got there, I was kinda surprised, it was a tiny place right across from Pape station. My friend who used to frequent that location, said she's never even noticed it before but its been there a while. We ordered a pork gyro and a chicken gyro. Finally a place that puts french fries in the gyros, just like in Greece! The gyro meats were seasoned well, and huge portions stuffed into that fresh fluffy pita bread.
