This place has been around for a while. I remember walking passed it and noticing it every time. First time trying this passed weekend and it was worth stopping for. Super small space (no seating inside). But there are about 6 tables outside that seat 4 people each with some umbrellas for shade. From here there are entertaining views of the busy Toronto streets on one side and the waterfront on the other. Got the basic Greek fries had a flavorful olive oil and some nice soft feta cheese. Also got the chicken gyros on rice. Heard them shave it off the spit and the crispy edges of the chicken were oh so charry and flavorful. Tzatziki sauce was perfectly thick and balanced. But was very disappointed in the spanakopita. The fillings were perfect but could immediately tell upon first bite that it wasnt fresh, maybe a day old. Pastry was hard and thick was not happy about that. Overall woud stop by to try other items on their menu. Nice convenient location. read more

I've been going here since 2018 and it's one of the best in toronto. Chicken and pork gyros are always good. However, I wish they had a Lam version that they made themselves. However, for the first time, I'm extremely disappointed in one thing. I always order a box of chicken or pork only. Was a great deal because it has a full box of meat with a little bit tomato onion on the top. However, this time they filled half my box with fries, onions, and tomatoes and lettuce, which I never wanted. These are cheaper items and I'm pretty upset about it. But was once a full box of me is now half a box of meat with filler. read more

Service was fast and friendly. Unfortunately the food was not that great. Got the Greek poutine and pork gyro the pork was not seasoned well. The cook on the pork looked great I just wish they had gotten some spices and salt on the meat. The poutine was pretty standard. read more

I went in there today to get pork gyros in a box. Which is just pork gyros in a box. They prepared me a pork wrap instead. I told them they screwed up and I wanted pork gyros in a box. They remade it but gave me pork gyros on fries. How do you screw up an order twice? If you want somewhat decent food but terrible service than this is the place for you. read more

Definitely go for lunch. As lunch food, it definitely tasted fresh and good. I got the chicken gyro and my wife got the pork gyro. Definitely keep the toothpick in because if you don't, it will unravel like in this picture. Keep one end in foil as you eat. Even if it does unravel, it's still good. read more

chicken souvlaki wrap ($14) was pretty small and had like 4 chunks of meat in it. not very tasty either

We flew into Toronto pretty late and were staying at the Westin next door so stopped in to get takeout at around 11pm. We were STARVING (I think I must've said I was hungry 34 times on the way from the airport to the hotel then to Alexandros) and the food here really hit the spot. We got the dinner for 2 combo and it was a good amount of food. The gyros were well stuffed (made better by adding some stuff from the Greek salad into it) and the meat was tasty. The fries could've been better but I still enjoyed them. We also got some baklava that was pretty standard, not the best but not the worst baklava I've ever had. The service was fast and easy. Overall it was a positive experience and if I lived in Toronto I'd probably be going there all the time. read more

Pork Souvlaki Gyros and I didn't have to fly to Athens Greece --- I didn't have to take the subway to Greektown on Danforth--- only a brisk walk from my downtown hotel at One King West. Both times I came here, I ate the same thing --- wonderful pork gyros. For $10 USD ($12 CAD), you get a huge portion that is very tasty and filling. Convenient location at the harbour front area, next to the Westin Hotel and the Ferry Terminal. This place is much better than the Yelp rating. Having been to Greece, I can definitely say this is the real deal! I hope someday Alexandro decides to open a restaurant in California where we cannot find pork gyros. read more

Tasty late night spot we found next to our hotel. Our food came out pretty quick and was full of flavor. Great greek salad!

Quick easy bite when you're downtown and don't want to spend $40 for lunch Pork/Chicken Gyros - Price has gone up since my last visit, about $11-13 for a gyro now and even the souvlaki prices went up. Food was decent, nothing spectacular but it gets the job done for lunch. No Parking Hole in the wall gyro shop read more

Hands down, the best gyros in the city . The portions are huge, and the prices are low. The staff are friendly and service is usually very quick. Alexandros usually serves as a takeout, but there are a few seats inside. In the summer there are a few seats outside, and fits in well in the busy water taxis down at the bottom of Yonge street. We usually get the "Dinner box" - a combination of a gyro, fries, salad and a soft drink. Both the pork and chicken gyro options are highly recommended. The gyro box is also a great option if you just want gyro meat, rather than the full pita. read more

I mean.. if you know, you know. Few places have stood the ultimate test of time along the Harbourfront like Alexandros. If Lake Ontario were a great big ocean, Alexandros would the port of call. We ordered a group lunch meal from Alexandros which is a small shop on Queens Quay specializing on grab and go Greek food. The chicken gyros dinner came with Greek salad, pita, and choice of rice or fries. Seeing that it already came with a healthy side choice, I decided to balance that out with the fries. The fries, even though delivered, were still pretty crispy when I got them! I wasn't a huge fan of the raw white onion in the Greek salad which was a little intense. The dinner had a heaping portion of the chicken though. There was so much chicken that my coworkers were confused as to why I wasn't eating the meat. It was really just that I couldn't get through it fast enough! I ordered a baklava for dessert. It was supposed to come in 6 pieces per the UberEATS menu which would have been perfect for sharing but unfortunately was just one solid piece. It was a bit too sweet and soggy for me. read more

If you're in downtown Toronto near the water and looking for some fast, cheap and great eats, look not further than this Greek Street food gem. They've been here for years and do gyros right! Exactly as you'd find in it Greece, roasted on a rotating gyros spit, and it won't break the bank. On this visit we also ordered the Greek fries which came with a generous portion of feta cheese and drizzled with olive oil and oregano. Go large and treat yourself. You don't be disappointed. There's not much room indoors, but they do have seating outdoors. Nothing pretentious, so if the weather is bad or you have nice clothes on, be prepared to take out and eat elsewhere. Definitely recommend this place. read more

If you need a quick, good bite to grab before or after your ferry ride this is the place. Small and limited seating but huge on flavor. Located dockside, they have great pork gyros as well as chicken options and Baklava just to name a few. The servers are friendly and the place can easily be past by if you don't know to look for it. But they really stuff the gyros full. Enjoy read more

Food quality has definitely gone down compared to pre-COVID, portions seem smaller too. The gyro was really oily and half burnt, the poutine was too salty... overall it didn't feel like they made much of an effort. There also wasn't the option to customize, like remove olives. I think it's saying something when my favorite part of the meal was the pop that came with the combo... They also round prices up from what's advertised on the menu so beware. Likely won't be back again. read more

Decided to try other food choices around the office. So my coworker said to try here. Came here on the Thursday and it wasn't busy at all. The inside of the store feels like the 80s, like other reviewers' pictures. Very bare in terms of fixtures. Anyhow I was deciding on what to get and then chose Pork Gyros and a Spinach Pie to go. My coworker ordered the Greek burger with Greek poutine. Onto the taste. Gyros was fresh and very flavourful. I like all the different textures. And the spinach pie was freshly made. The phyllo pastry was crunchy and the spinach and cheese filling was super yummy. Overall experience ain't bad at all. Will I come back? Of course! read more

Quick and convenient Greek food on the waterfront! This gem is a staple in the city. Come by for a good gyro and leave satisfied! I usually get takeout from here and (in the summer) bring it to a near by bench on the waterfront. Theres some good spots by the ferry terminal. Otherwise they have a small patio in front. By far one of the best I have ever had. Had both pork and chicken. Nice crispy taste. Was in shock at how good it was.

While staying at the Westin Harborplace in Toronto I grew hungry before dinner time after a long day of travel. My husband and I went walking to look for food, immediately after Exciting our hotel and turning right the rain started which put a wrench in our plans as we had no umbrella. We quickly hurried into this place which is extremely small with one tall table that seats about 6 and a low table that sits 1. Both were filled with families seeming to be enjoying themselves and their food. We decided to grab something there to satisfy our hunger. I opted for the veggie pita combo and he the chicken pita combo. The lady was nice, the place seems Family built and run. The food on the other hand was HORRIBLE the chicken was hard and dark and appeared as unrecognizable pieces. The veggies were greasy as ever and none flavorful. The fries were OK The ketchup and hot sauce was OK The Greek salad was OK However couldn't get full from that as we threw away the pitas YUCK read more

The first thing I saw was the TPS black-and-white. I had been wandering, cold, lost. I wasn't even sure where I was anymore. I was in the land of my birth, technically, depending on definitional and jurisdictional questions. But my issue was hunger. And I had to myself a challenge issued. My challenge was to find a really obviously fucking shady place that would let me sit down and eat like a normal fucking person without hassling me. Because I'd been hassled. Because people would hassle me. Because I looked like I might be a hassle myself. But I didn't want any hassle. I didn't really want anything in the world, except a passport, and a visit to the clinic, (and really more the paperwork that says the clinic visit happened) and a visit to my girl, and a variety of visits. And I was wandering lost and cold, and I was in the land of my birth, depending, and it was Toronto. I was in Toronto for the first time in a while and I looked fucking homeless because I arguably was fucking homeless but I had a laptop and a Zoom job and an empty battery and an empty stomache and the first thing I saw was the TPS black-and-white. It was a cop car. I didn't even know what was real anymore. The angles were all wrong, the lights were casting the wrong shadows, or the right ones, But it was a cop car, and it was outside Alexandros World Famous Gyros, and I had never seen nor heard of these cats before, but now they were world famous, to me. This is the shadiest fucking restaurant I've ever seen. This restaurant is obviously involved in some kind of criminal, quasi-criminal, or counter-criminal activity. For all I know this restaurant is playing both sides against the other. Perhaps this restaurant doesn't even really know what side it's on itself, anymore. Perhaps this story isn't even real. But the fact is, when I did some kind of dance with putting SOME of the bill on debit, or credit, of which I had little, or none, and the rest on cash? The dance danced into an area I hadn't been expecting it to dance into. And then it danced out again. At the end of the dance, I put an extra six dollars on the guy's table and I said something like, "I'm not even really sure what just happened, but there was food, and it was good." Try the menu from the bottom to the top, and leave a good tip, at Alexandros World Famous Gyros, the one that always has the cop car outside. PS: Please forgive my odd mode of expression. Many people these days are calling me insane. Many people suspect I'm on something, and they're right, but they're wrong. And you won't go wrong, with the Souvlaki Dinner. read more

I ordered chicken on a greek salad. It was horrible. The ends of the chicken were burnt and the chicken dry as the Sahara desert. We were walking around downtown looking for a good lunch, and walked right by Alexandros. It's not much to look at. It's a squat old building with a faded sign on a busy street near the ferry docks. Hungry and seeing no better nearby options, we wandered in. It's a very brief menu, and we both got the chicken gyros. The two attractive young folks working the counter and kitchen were friendly, and the food was fast, inexpensive and delicious. There is no indoor seating, but the outdoor space has picnic tables and a friendly gathering of birds waiting for you to toss them some pita crumbs. Just do it! Birds are your friends. While someone was growing some beautiful cherry tomatoes in containers on the deck, I couldn't help but think that some jaunty Aegean blue table umbrellas and a refreshed sign would brighten the place and bring in more customers. Give this place a chance. The food will not disappoint you. read more

Ok I have been reserving my review until I had visited this tiny little shed in the water, juuuuust to be sure I give what I feel is an educated and factual review. Well....the votes from my several visits here have been tallied and I can honestly and with 100% certainty state that I LOVE THIS LITTLE PLACE and it's cute little owner and cute little daytime cook!!! Greek fries are AMAZING, and u can smother them in chicken or steak gyro - and I mean SMOTHER...they're not skimpy on meat or cheese at this place. OPA Friendly service and ample outdoor seating during nice weather, with a fantastic view of the lake. Omg as long as I work on Queens Quay I'll be eating here. So ladies...back to the cute cook, Greek I'm guessing - early to mid 20s - not sure if he's single .... But to all the single young ladies in the 6 - ok surrounding areas included - come for some Greek fries and maybe leave with a BF? He's too young for me but just letting u ladies know he's there. This place was right next to our hotel the Westin Harbor Castle and they were open very late which was convenient. They dont offer lamb gyros and for the 2 days we were there they didnt have the 2 spinach pie options that were on their menu. They do allow you to mix your meats in the gyro which was nice. Taste was good but the overall size of it was small. We also tried their Greek poutin which had feta instead of cheese curds. A nice twist on cheese fries and gravy and very good. It made me wonder why nobody else has done this. They have little baklava slices for under $3 Canadian and they were amazing. We got like 4 of them in 2 days. If there was a spot like this open this late back home I would definitley be a regular. read more

A HIDDEN GEM! Came across this little spot with the help of Yelp! And boy am I glad I stopped by. After looking at the pictures of the food I had to come by!! Everything just looked so fresh and delicious. Even though we were only in here for a few minutes the service was very good! We ordered a chicken gyro wrap which was prepared so quickly infront of us. It was delicious and fresh had the right amount of ingredients which brought out the wonderful flavors. We also ordered a pork gyro platter which included pita, fries, a delicious Greek salad, and the pork gyro which was nice and tender cooked to perfection. The food is to die for! ...and the prices are quite reasonable. I would definitely be returning and reccomending this gem to others! read more

In the summer, I frequent Toronto Island when the sun is shining. When leaving the ferry, I pass this place all of the time and want to try it. I'm a huge gyro fan. This past weekend, my friend and I were leaving the island and stopped for a bite to eat. It's a tiny spot, but has a few seats indoors, and a number of tables outdoors. The prices were very cheap. And the meat was cooked fresh - you could see the pork and chicken spinning all juicy. I ordered a pork gyro with greek fries and a pop. It was only 7 or 8 bucks. The gyro itself was pretty good, though I wish I had lamb :( I was pretty disappointed that they didn't have lamb or the beef/lamb mix. To me, that's what a gyro is. The greek fries were really tasty (fries with feta and greek dressing). I had never heard of them before, but I would get them again. Nice crispy fries too. I would go back if I was starving and leaving the beach. The food was good, but I'd rather go to another gyro place that has lamb, personally. read more

I've been to Alexandros numerous times and this is by far THE best place to get gyros in the GTA. I've been to Greece a few times and I definitely can say these gyros are the next closest thing. Nothing is over done. Just the right amount of everything. I have had a few pork pieces that were too crunchy for my liking, but it does not take away from how delicious Alexandros is. I usually get a mix pork/chicken gyro. You need to ask them to add fries to the gyro though (at no extra cost). I mean that's how they do it in Greece right? Their greek fries are also perfect. So simple, yet so yummy. This place seems like it's open 24 hours! Any time of the night you decide to come, these guys/gals are open. PERFECT after clubbing meal. read more

It's pretty sweet that if I have a craving for Greek, I can just head to Queens Quay to grab some, rather than having to head to the Danforth or Yonge and Eg. The shack is situated besides the Westin, with some indoor and outdoor seats. If you're looking for something quick and casual, then I would suggest this place. The chicken is juicy and delicious, and the salad is fresh. I usually get a Greek poutine to go with it, which is regular cut fries, topped with gravy and feta fries. Place is open late, and is perfect for those nights where you're craving a cultured version of McDonalds. read more

Open late into the night Alexandro's is a great spot to grab a quick bite if you're craving Greek. Beware if you're sitting in though: there's very little seating space especially during winter (where the patio is a no go). It has Gyros, platters, burgers, and all the typical stuff. I had the pork gyro and while it was delicious an packed with flavor, a few of the pieces were burned. They go generous on the toppings and sauce if you ask for it so don't be shy. Portion wise it was pretty small for the price ($8) and didn't come with a drink, you can definitely do better on the Danforth, but I can't complain about a place open this late. Would definitely come back if I'm in the area late at night. read more

Alexandros - Late night eat! - Greek Near Me - Toronto, Ontario

Coming here on a cold Winter Sunday afternoon, this small restaurant was surprisingly packed for lunch service. This hole in the wall seemed to be run by a husband and wife duo. I can only imagine how busy this place would be during the Summer season. I ordered the pork gyro with everything on it which totalled about $7. The pork was very fatty - a little too much to my liking. The portion seemed small at first (but then again; downtown pricing) but it filled me up to the brim. As I don't live in Toronto, I probably won't come back here to eat as there is another greek food place near me (and to which, I compare every other greek food restaurant to). My overall experience was just ok. read more
