I was not previously familiar with this park and I was glad I checked it out. There is a large paved path that makes a loop around the perimeter of the park. If you go to the river overlook area there is also an informal trail in the woods. I do not have a dog, so I did not utilize the dog park, but it looks really nice. A hidden gem area of the park is the canoe launch. You walk through a slightly wooded area and then you are on the banks of the Little Miami River. Multiple people set up camp to enjoy an afternoon by the river, and it looked like an awesome way to spend the day. read more

Largest enclosed dog park I have visited to date. Plenty of room for many dogs to play safely and happily. Unfortunately I was only able to visit this park twice before leaving the state but it was wonderful each visit! Very clean, it's obvious that the people who visit this dog park respect the grounds, everyone seems to clean up after their pets which significantly helps with the aesthetics and not to mention the usual "dog park smell". read more

Great recreational park! Offers a very nice playground, fantastic dog park and a 2.9 mile paved walking/biking trails. If your a bit ambitious you'll find a paved trail that connects to the 5 mile Lunkin Airport loop. There are several overlooks along these paths where you can take a moment to listen to the rushing waters of the Little Miami River. It has been a few years since my last visit. The distinct lack of shade is what has kept me away. I remember my ride here being exhausting due to midday sun. An unseasonably cool and dreary summer morning lured me back. Summer rains have left many of the local trails too muddy to hike comfortably. Remembering the plethora of paved multi-use trails, and with the shade provided by morning's cloud cover, we decided to return. Mulit-use trails are still as smooth as they were years ago. No real gradients on the multi-use trail. All big plusses for kids on wheels, or if pushing a stroller. The ride here is a much easier ride than some of the orher Great Parks. During both visits, riders were being careful of others on the trail. A wide path makes passing other guests easy. Several benches may be found about the trail. Several soccer fields, a dog park, canoe launch and playground are some additional features. There is even a connector trail to Lunken Airport. (This trail has a big hill.) That trail along with the park closes when the Ohio river has higher water levels. The dog park is hugely popular. Even with COVID-19 one of the fields was packed. The canoe launch allows guests to put their boats into the Little Miami River. read more

Otto is an Eastside charm. Nearby Lunken and Ault Park, it's easy to miss this area. The park itself provides soccer fields, a play area, two large dog parks, a bike/walking trail and a put in for the Little Miami River. The river also provides a very large sandbar and plenty of space to picnic under the trees. I've visited the dog park once and it was kept very clean. Often times there's atleast 10 dogs playing but the space is so large that you're not constantly trampled on. Across the street is a designated area for smaller dogs of need be. The park provides a concrete area and water tap. Back the lane, you'll pass the bike trail and large flower field. Here you'll see planes from Lunken coming in low. It is very cool to watch them fly right over your head! Kiddos love it, too. Further back to the dead end (if you haven't reached the dead end, keep going; the lane can get confusing), you'll find a large field to park your car and head to the river. There's a 15 minute loading zone for your Canoe/kayak. The river is not necessarily handicap accessible. There is a large, steepish hill you have to climb in and out of. Further down the bank the hill gets less steep. I do recommend the park putting in some sort of stairs. For kayakers, the water here is typically shallow but still enough to get through. Sometimes you might drag depending on your route. Bass to Otto is nice. Otto downstream is nice as well, you'll hit a couple sandbars if you like stopping. I've heard of Terrel to Otto or Kelly to Otto. Also, Otto down to the Ohio River and right, towards Eli's. read more

Since I am almost a half century old and just getting back into being active, this is the PERFECT place for me to get a decent walk in. The walking path is FLAT and about 3 miles. That is PLENTY long enough for me. That being said...........it's still a challenge for me, since I have excessive weight I'm carrying around. Most of the people, whether walking or biking or roller blading, are respectful and get out of each others way. I really appreciate that. The scenery is a nice distraction from me having to focus on continuing my walk. I can walk my dog(s) and they enjoy it too. read more

Great park but if you're looking for a dog park where the other humans are being respectful during a pandemic, try to come at the off times because you won't find that during the peak times. Looking at about 75 adults crowded in only ONE of the THREE sections. Not a goddamn mask in sight. You white midwest people really are the cookie cutter stereotype the rest of the world thinks of when they hear American. Obese and individual gains only motivated and get even when you're outside walking around, you still can't pull yourself together to be healthy during this time. This park has it all. I'm typically here for a run, but this park is also perfect for biking, dog walking, rollerblading, walking, sitting, thinking, whatever. I will note that the loop trail has mileage markings that are incorrect, at least according to both Garmin and Nike+. It's only off by about .1 mile, but it can be a bit heartbreaking on a long run when the pavement says you're done and your watch says not yet. Just keep your head up! Also, friendly reminder to road bikers: us runners can't hear you come up behind us. A friendly, "on your left!" helps us not pee our pants. Thanks! read more

This is a large park on the east side of town that is owned by the Cincinnati Recreation Commission. As others have said, it features playgrounds, athletic fields, and a loop for walking/running. It also has a dog park with separate areas for large and small dogs. I visited the park with my large extended family on Easter Sunday. They had called ahead and reserved the main shelter. The reservation process included pre-paying a fee at an increased rate for the holiday and signing a contract for use of the facility. Despite making the advanced payment, we arrived to find all of the picnic tables in the shelter chained together in the corner and the bathrooms locked. Calls to the after hours/ranger line went unanswered. So, while this was a beautiful park, I definitely would not recommend renting the shelter. read more

There's a lot going on at this park, so I'll break it down by area... The Dog Park: I've been here quite a bit with friend's furry companions, and it's a really expansive park for larger dogs. There's a smaller space for smaller dogs, potentially to avoid any spectacular shows of little dog syndrome. They're only separated by a chain link fence though, so not all interaction is prohibited... I did once see a larger dog pee on a smaller dog completely unaware it was there. BUT, it's a super nice place to let the dogs run, and everyone I've met there (of the human persuasion) has been really cool and nice. Playgrounds: Toward the entrance to the park. They look super nice and are always crowded, but I can't speak to personal experience. The Paths: Nice and flat and paved. It's a nice configuration as well, so if you want a short walk, take the inner loop. There's an outer loop for a longer trek and it connects to a path around Lunken for a longer bike ride or trek. It's pretty sweltering on hot days though as there's not a lot of tree cover. Probably because... Caveat #1: It floods if the river gets high, so check before you go in rainy season. Caveat #2: There are a TON of recreation fields so during certain seasons, when kids are playing soccer, there are about a million cars all trying to get in / leave at the same time. read more

I like to come Otto Armleder park for the bike trail. They have a nice loop that goes around the park, but there isn't any shade on the trail so if it's a really sunny day you are going to feel it. It's also pretty flat and relatively boring for a bike ride, but overall it's clean and smooth. The bike trail connects to the bike trail loop around Lunken Airport so there is the potential for the bike ride to be considerably longer so it ends up being a pretty good ride. The loop is 1.9 miles, the connector to the Lunken trail is 1.1 miles, and the loop around Lunken is 5 miles. This gives 9 miles of smooth bike path riding if you park at Otto Armleder and complete both loops (you will ride the connector path twice, once each way). The path is good for other activities as well and I have often seen people walking, running, or roller blading on the path. The park also sits along the Little Miami River and there are places along the path where you can view the river. There is also a spot for river access if you want to put a kayak or canoe in. I am definitely planning on taking advantage of this since I bought a kayak last year. There is also a dog park. I can't comment on it since I don't have a dog, but I have noticed that it's there. read more

I (and my dog) love this park complex. There are 4 off leash dog park areas: 1 small dog area, 1 pen that I think is usually more intended for training but is sometimes the only one open if the weather has been wet, and then 2 really large areas for all dogs that alternate being open. We also use 2 of the trails pretty regularly: there's a 1.5 mile connector trail to the Lunken Loop which is about 2/3 shaded and well paved and great for hotter days. And then a about 2 mile loop that is unshaded and has several cut throughs if you don't want to do the whole 2 miles, as well as a couple of off shoots to other trails. Unlike Ault Park where we frequently run into dogs that are off leash on the trail, dogs always seem to be on leash when and where they are supposed to be. The whole complex is really well maintained, there's always parking, even if sometimes on really nice days you need to park down closer to the trail entrances (we prefer to park by the dog parks, obviously). read more

Great place to park if you're looking to jump on the Ohio River Trial or bike/run/walk the Lunken loop. There is a 1 mile paved path that links this park to the Lunken Airport Bike Path which hooks up with the Ohio River Trail. read more

This place absolutely rocks!! We biked around the park and connected to the Lunken Airport path. The beauty this place holds is truly amazing. There are so many species of birds to search out, a playground for children, a fenced in and large dog park area, canoe / kayak entry points and there is always some sort of game in action. The paths are walkable and bike friendly and very well taken care of! I highly recommend losing yourself in the beauty of this park! read more
