So basically I bought this 9 mm free diving farmer John suit that I like to use for scuba. Very warm. but its only made in "male". I'm a girl but I figured you know, how manly can it be, its probably fine. To my surprise it came with an external pizzle; meaning that there was a penis pouch. For awhile there I kinda liked it and it made my scuba buddys laugh on dives, but the novelty sorta wears off when you have to roll it up like a one of those new years eve kazoos and tuck it every time. I have always struggled with off the rack wetsuits, being somewhere between a medium and a large, suits were too short or too wide and just never fit correctly. I was surprised to find that for just a little more money than a stock suit, Cricket would build me a custom wetsuit to fit my nonstandard body. She took all my measurements, talked about what I wanted in a suit (WARM), picked some details, and a few weeks later I had a two piece wetsuit that fit perfect (she does free alterations if necessary). The suit looks amazing, the cut and design are stylish and on top of fitting me perfectly it looks great! Did I mention it fits! If you are in the market for a new wetsuit, why get a cookie cutter boring suit that probably won't fit perfect when you could have one built just for you? We went there to get some info for a wet suit. Cricket was informative and very professional. The address is 201 Hoffman Avenue, she moved into a grey building. We heard a lot of good things about the business. It is a small office crammed with suits and stuff. She makes custom wet suits. She didn't put any pressure on us to buy and was very accommodating. Cricket got our measurements and we will pick them up in about 3 to 4 weeks. We spent a lot but it's our last suit and it will fit like a glove. Thank you to Cricket, who tailored my Patagonia Yulex wetsuit and added a front zipper. Since I am allergic to latex and rubber products, I had thought I was not able to swim in cold water. Yulex is made differently and does not stretch as much but is so comfortable. The matching jacket will be needed in colder waters and also fits perfectly! My boyfriend wanted to get a Farmer John Wetsuit since he had always dove in those and no Farmer John's available and off the rack one pieces did not fit him . We were referred here from Dolphin Scuba in Sacramento.. well we went in May for him to get measured by Cricket and we were told 6 - 8 weeks for the finished product. I know there is a supply chain shortage and there were a few items that did not arrive in time and there were always people ahead of us on the list . so we did have to wait until September for the finished product. BUT .. it fits him beautifully. It is exactly what he wanted and he tried it out recently and it is perfect. She even added a pocket on it to keep things safe. It might take some time right now to get a custom suit made by her.. but hang in there it is worth it. read more

I just started a beginning open water class, and to celebrate finally being able to start diving (I have asthma, and until recently, I was not medically able to dive), and also as a birthday present to myself, I wanted to have a hood made with dinosaur spikes to make diving that much more fun. I walked into the shop, which is actually a small, cluttered room, and was rudely greeted by the owner. She asked me a couple of question, seemed annoyed that I had a bit of trouble answering a couple of them (I TOLD her I was a beginner. I know some stuff, but she is clearly more knowledgeable about dive apparel than I, so she could have been a little bit nicer). She became vaguely nicer over time, but I, was really taken aback by her initial attitude and it kind of spoiled the whole visit. Ultimately, I dropped quite a bit of money and I hope the end product is worth the drive. I will say that I absolutely appreciate that she does custom gear and I don't want to sound too whiny. However, she could be a tad more approachable. She also might want to take down the sign that says she charges $20 for dealing with attitudes, because her own could use some tweaking... read more

Between the two of us, my wife and I have 4 suits from Otter Bay Wetsuits, and they are all absolutely fantastic. We have both cold and warm water setups with boots, hoods, the whole deal. Some have many dives on them, and years later they still fit perfectly and have held up better than any off-the-rack suit either of us ever owned. As one of the reviewers said below, my measurements are not standard, and until I found Otter Bay, I was always uncomfortable in factory made suits. Wasted a lot of money on the search, but no longer because from now on it's custom fit all the way. Cricket is the best! Remember that you get what you pay for, and a little more money will get you far, far better quality and comfort. read more
