We were a group of 4 and arrived around 11:30 am. The restaurant was busy but not packed, and we were quickly seated in a booth. Our hostess spoke both English and French with French being her default. We were a little concerned that we would have trouble since we don't speak French, but we were pleased they had both French and English menus. Our server also spoke French as his default, and to each one of our orders and/or questions, he replied first in French and then in English - it was easy to see he did not speak English that well, and the area where we were seated was also noisy, so he had to ask us to repeat our orders. We were all concerned he would get something in the order incorrect. We ordered the following: -- The Adam - eggs your way, with French toast/waffle smothered in a white cream, a chocolatey-looking drizzle and bananas, and breakfast potatoes and bacon. The eggs were a little dry, and the sweet part of the breakfast was sugary but not really flavorful (owing in part to the fact that the bananas were under ripe). The dish was also lukewarm, like it had been sitting. -- Eggs Benedict with Smoked Salmon - this was tasty, but the English muffin was raw/not toasted and the entire dish was cold. By the time it arrived the restaurant was more busy though, and we had places to go, so I did not send it back. The fruit salad that came with this dish looked great but all of the fruit was under ripe. It is the middle of winter, but the melon and banana were HARD, and the strawberry was totally white inside. -- Chorizo ham skillet - this was basically a dish of potatoes with an egg on top. Very little sun dried tomato, no mushrooms and the slices of chorizo were more like pepperoni. We also did not see any ham. This was warm/of appropriate temp. -- A plate of two eggs over easy, bacon and breakfast potatoes - this was just a regular breakfast and everything was as expected. -- Two maple lattes - we received regular unsweetened lattes instead (probably our server did not catch the 'maple' part of the order) and were charged for the regular lattes (not the up charge for the maple lattes) -- Wheat toast was ordered all around and they brought us a basket of white toast - unbuttered - no jam/jelly and no butter Overall, a disappointing experience. In truth, we haven't been to a Cora since prior to covid/corona virus, and it could very well be that the combination of supply chain issues, dead of winter (lack of access to proper/ripe fruits), and lack of staff, all impacted this experience.

Others at my table said various parts of their food was cold as well... so did they just simply forget to bring it out when it was ready? The fruit was good but everything else was cold and lacking. The function occupied Salon B&C, which I would say would fit about 400 people. The chandeliers were beautiful and there was a pretty water structure in the lobby that served as a nice backdrop for photos. We had a four course meal. The first course was a roasted tomato bisque. I ate one spoonful and gave the rest to my husband (and he ate it not because he thought it was delicious, but because he was incredibly hungry (as was I, but my actions were still as such)). I found the soup incredibly watery and the texture was not smooth. It tasted to me like watered down pasta sauce. Fortunately, the food got better from there. The second course was a salad which consisted of mixed greens wrapped in cucumber slices, with olives, grape tomatoes, mini bocconcini cheese balls, and croutons. The presentation was interesting with the salad wrapped in the cucumber. I still don't know how they kept it together because there was no toothpick. The taste was satisfactory. The dressing was a little too oily with not enough flavour in my opinion. However, the vegetables were fresh. The main course was a Tandoori chicken breast with basmati rice and roasted vegetables, with raita on top. I found the rice on the dry side, and the vegetables (zucchini, squash, and sweet potato) not particularly flavourful. The chicken had a mild tandoori taste to it, and I appreciated that it was de-boned, save for the wing drumette. The chicken was moist, so at least it wasn't dry. The dessert was my favourite course. It was a chocolate hazelnut mousse with meringue and half a strawberry. The mousse was rich and creamy and the meringue was fluffy and delicious. The servers were all very good and competent. This convention centre is by the airport and surrounded by many hotels. I think the location is convenient for events where attendees may be flying in and staying near the airport. We were served a salad appetizer with fresh rolls, followed by a steak with potatoes and vegetables. Lastly for dessert was a cheesecake. Overall the food tasted good and had good portions. The only downside to the night was that a wedding beside ours were not following the rules for outside equipment and when loud music could be played, which put a huge damper on the speeches as no one could hear them.

Where it's missing the other 3 stars is the actual facilities. The walls/ceilings are paper thin, when someone closes a door above you the wall shakes etc. The studio "suites" are also misleading- it is a shared entry way with the room next door (not sure what purpose the entry way serves) but if you have unkind neighbors, the door slamming/people crowding in doorway will keep you up. We traveled with our one child who was kept up by the 3+ children next door going in and out of the shared doorway, as well as the children/family above us morning, noon and night. The family next door continued to prop the "suite" door open which made me feel weird that they decided who got access to our room etc. At one point the neighbor children were sitting in the entry way- I had to ask them to move so my family could walk out of the door. Again, I have a kid and understand it can be difficult but when I'm having to step over other people's to get out of my hotel room with no parents in sight it becomes really uncomfortable. Additionally, the 2 EV chargers it shows available were out of service. Just a heads up for my EV friends!

Since the Buzz disappeared mid-pandemic, there has been a wine bar sized hole in the heart of Centretown. My first introduction to Buyers and Cellars was a birthday celebration where my friend treated me to a tasting. It was every bit as girly and glamorous as you imagine. We were all dressed up and sampled 5 wines - 1 oz each and "travelled" from the Alps of Switzerland and Italy to Chile. My friend and I chatted happily in between tastings while the sommelier regaled us with stories of each winery, how long they had been in business, and how many of the wines they sell can only be found here. Imagine! These rich tasting wines not available anywhere else in the country. The wine from the Alps , for example, is only made in very small batches. I bought a bottle and I was hooked. I have since gone back twice - once when I was in a pinch and couldn't get to the LCBO or it was close to closing - and this evening. The second time I came away with two bottles and a free glass of wine. Tonight, I stopped in to pick up a nice bottle of wine for dinner on Friday, and asked if it wasn't too busy if I could sit and have a drink. The sommelier happily obliged and poured me three 1oz glasses, each of a rossa, carmeniere and a Croatian red wine. The Croatian, called Dika, was my favourite, so I bought two bottles ($60). The bartender comped my tasting, and I was happily on my way... but I'll be back!
