Jabulani Vineyard & Winery

Please note that Jabulani Vineyards has been sold, and will change hands at the beginning of May,…read morewhen a new vintner will take over operations. I've wanted to go there for years, but never made it. What a shame I didn't go! It's a lovely place - big and inviting, with a lovely outdoor seating area (not today though, with the damp rain and cold). They have an inside area available for wine tastings for weddings. However, there were no tastings planned today, and now that they're closing, likely never again. No bottles are open now that they're closing. To celebrate their closing, Jabulani is offering what is left of their various wines at a discount. This is what enticed us today. I look forward to enjoying the wines we chose, and we wish the owners good luck in their retirement from Jabulani. Also good luck to the new owners, when they take over.

Upon arriving, they will give you a menu of their wines. You can select six to try for free. If you want food, you have to buy a bottle (they said it has to do with laws regarding serving food since they are not a restaurant). My favorites were the Frontenac Blanc, the MCM (a red wine on the lighter and fruitier side), and the Rose. This would be a great place to hold an event such as a wedding, but you would need to reserve a year ahead of time. They said they are already booked up for all of 2018!

Their sommeliers are…read moreincredibly knowledgeable, care deeply and work really hard (without breaking a sweat) to bring classy service. Since the Buzz disappeared mid-pandemic, there has been a wine bar sized hole in the heart of Centretown. My first introduction to Buyers and Cellars was a birthday celebration where my friend treated me to a tasting. It was every bit as girly and glamorous as you imagine. We were all dressed up and sampled 5 wines - 1 oz each and "travelled" from the Alps of Switzerland and Italy to Chile. My friend and I chatted happily in between tastings while the sommelier regaled us with stories of each winery, how long they had been in business, and how many of the wines they sell can only be found here. Imagine! These rich tasting wines not available anywhere else in the country. The wine from the Alps , for example, is only made in very small batches. I bought a bottle and I was hooked. I have since gone back twice - once when I was in a pinch and couldn't get to the LCBO or it was close to closing - and this evening. The second time I came away with two bottles and a free glass of wine. Tonight, I stopped in to pick up a nice bottle of wine for dinner on Friday, and asked if it wasn't too busy if I could sit and have a drink. The sommelier happily obliged and poured me three 1oz glasses, each of a rossa, carmeniere and a Croatian red wine. The Croatian, called Dika, was my favourite, so I bought two bottles ($60). The bartender comped my tasting, and I was happily on my way... but I'll be back!

I live in Kanata and highly recommend this place for wine…read more They have such a variety it should appeal to almost anyones tastes. For example here are my experiences: 1) I regularily purchase boxs of their table wine. It is so much easier then bottling and the box can sit on the kitchen counter for up to 6 weeks. The taste of their table wine is better then I have had from a number of Italian winery shops across the city. 2) I have purchased a batch of their 9 month wine that sat in oak casks. As good as expensive LCBO wine at less than half the price. 3) we used their wine for my daughters wedding. It was very very acceptable and much less costly. Just paid corking fees to the venue. Also was able to provide as giveaways at the wedding a 375ml bottle with special labels to remember the occaision. A unique idea for us. My point is give them a try and go in with what you really want from a wine shop and likely they will satisfy your needs.

Our favorites: Malbec, Carmenere, Cabernet. Highly recommended!

But decent. I always leave with at least one bottle after sharing a small flight. My fave is the German one. Don't ask me to spell it. Lol. I'll take a pic of it. Big tent for rainy days on site. Gets an extra point for being dog friendly. Food/kitchen has changed and the menu is more varied. Lots of parking in the lot. I would recommend to anyone and while in Carp there is a lot of other cute places to see there too!

Celebrated my bachelorette here, and everyone couldn't stop praising the tour. The added option to linger, either enjoying the on-site seating or heading to Jos restaurant, coupled with its pet and family-friendly atmosphere, enhanced the visit.
