They do have a clearance section towards the back of the store, but most of the stuff there was actually past its best before date. If you love gourmet stinky cheeses, they had lots! As for me, I'll just stick to brie, harvati and other benign to the nose cheeses thank you very much ;) Fun store to poke around. Lots of free parking.

I will definitely be back to try out the coffee shop in the corner. You need the rest that refreshes (coffee) after a stroll through this shop. What was I waiting for?? They had some very good sales - leftovers from Christmas. I picked up a mug for myself (which had the design of a scarf and mittens. What can I say? I'm a knitter!) and one of those stoneware cookie molds which came with a recipe. This was on sale at a good price; I've seen it at double that elsewhere in the city. Did you know that there's a difference in the mechanisms of a pepper and salt mills? Apparently the salt can rust and corrode a pepper mill, and the pepper is too hard for a salt mill. Whodathunk?! I actually went in looking for coffee pots. The ones we have at work have been seriously used and abused. I'm also feeling the need for an espresso or latté machine, and was hoping I might find one of those nifty combo things here. Turns out that the design I'm thinking of is a bit passé. Too bad for me! However, the good coffee makers they have here are too good for work (read: expensive), and could almost be professional, like for coffee shops. So, I will have to keep shopping. Yum. I've just gotta say this place was very inspiring!!

The farmers are being really creative, providing pickled garden vegetables; fresh breads of different unimaginable varieties; all kinds of fresh veggies and so on. This market can be found Saturday mornings in the parking lot of that little plaza on the south side of Hazeldean at Carbrooke, where the Shoppers Drug is located at the east end of the plaza. So, there's plenty of parking. One thing, though: I really don't find the prices are that good. Why is it more expensive to buy things that are local? It's fun to go to these places, and splurge on ourselves once in a while, but I can't afford to shop this way all the time. Maybe it's time for me to start a serious garden for myself? Ah but then I'd miss the excitement of going to the Market! We did shopt here; purchased a tomato plant, and wonderful pickled garlic (oh boy was my breath bad! But I haven't caught a cold since!)

He was very sweet but could not speak English. He ripped open a pack of soup bones so I could buy one for my dog. Lol. I didn't ask him to do that but.. appreciated. Lost in translation. They had live blue crabs.. Yummy. In season I suppose! I bought some really cool things here and my bill was $14. Wayyyy cheaper than other grocery marts especially when I was looking at the meat. Quality.. looked comparable but I can't be sure as I have no idea where anything comes from. It was a fun outing with a friend after a nice lunch and I'll be returning. The fuji apples which I regret not buying were huge and I can't stop thinking about them! Lots of cool things in the kitchen aisle and freezer section.

The Long Version: My parents first introduced me to Green Fresh when they only had one location (the OG that was on Selkirk, that has since closed down). It was dingy and run down, but had lots of Asian ingredients that they were looking for. And it was the closest Asian grocery store to where they lived. They were thrilled when it moved to McArthur and had a total facelift, it was new, bright and clean. Green Fresh then opened a second location in Nepean on Merivale, closer to my neck of the woods. Then in January 2025, they opened this third location in Kanata/Stittsville. It's in the Grant Crossing, where the Bed, Bath and Beyond used to be (next to the Value Village). This newest location is very similar to the Nepean location. It even has the same bubble tea vendor inside (Y-Not Go For Tea). Which is a bit funny because the first Y-Not Go For Tea location is inside the Hunt Club T&T and T&T and Green Fresh are competitors! The Vanier Green Fresh has a different bubble tea vendor though: World Tea House. I visited this Kanata/Stittsville location shortly after opening, so maybe they don't have all their stuff together yet because although they have a section labelled "Bakery" they didn't have any baked goods :( However, they do have a prepared food section. It's self-serve and you pay by the weight ($2.29 per 100g). They also have a counter where they make Jianbing, Chinese crepes. There was a huge line up for these when I went, so they are definitely popular. They have lots of items, including snacks (my favourite aisles), lol. Most of the products are from China, but they have items from other countries too. They had Kracie DIY gummy kits imported from Japan. And they were only $4.99. The west end is now flush with Asian grocery stores (T&T, Kowloon, now Green Fresh, and soon Sunny Food Mart) compared to the east end (to my parents' chagrin). I'd say the prices here are the lowest generally speaking. However, the prepared foods did not look as appetizing to me as at the other Asian grocery stores. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. Maybe a 3.5 star, if only I could…read more I really looked forward to Kardish opening up in Kanata, and I have been there 2-3 times now. It's a nice clean store and the staff is efficient and friendly, and they really know their stuff. Kardish offers a free rewards system that you have to sign up for - you get a card to tap with your purchase. I do love getting rewarded for my shopping! But I found out something after going to a different Kardish outlet: they don't all carry the same items! The other outlet had these really yummy Greek Yogurt pretzels (bite-sized). They're so good I went back to the Kanata outlet to get more! No such luck :-( The Kanata store doesn't carry them. Oh well; I will have to watch for them, maybe sneak on over to the other store to get more. Meanwhile the Kanata shop is reasonable and handy for your health food needs. Although they have stiff competition in this area (Natures Pantry I think it's called), so I hope they keep up the good work.

On Saturdays and Sundays, they have homemade Turkish food and the last time I went on a Sunday, they had this live Turkish Streetfood station for Cigkofte setup. (Its apparently really popular in Turkey!) The store also has a meat section with fresh lamb and goat. The butcher cuts it up however you want it and they are really helpful when it comes to making smaller orders etc. Now, things may get lost in translation here so just use pictures or be really descriptive. The last thing I gotta say is that you MUST MUST MUST MUST try their chocolate croissants. Just call before you go if this is what you crave because they get sold out FAST! Their Saturday and Sunday bakery offerings are very different from weekdays so its always a treasure hunt in the bakery section. Go get your Turkey on Kanata / Stittsville!

The Long Version: This T&T Supermarket location is in Hazeldean Mall in Kanata. It's where the Laura's Your Independent Grocer used to be. It just opened at the end of October 2024. We went the beginning of November 2024 so it was still brand spanking new. I took my parents here to check it out and see how it compares with the other location on Hunt Club. Our consensus was this Kanata location is smaller with less selection than the original location. We were happy to visit and see what it's all about, but since the Hunt Club location is closer to us, we'll continue to go to that location instead. The bakery section at this Kanata location is much smaller, as is the prepared foods section. I also noticed that they use sesame seeds in a lot more of their sushi than the Hunt Club location. As someone who can't eat sesame seeds and can rarely buy prepackaged sushi, this made me sad. They have dim sum and Chinese BBQ and also an area to eat the food you purchase. It's good court style seating. I did notice their impressive selection of imported Lay's chips. Their selection was comparable to the other location in this regard. I doubt I will return unless I'm already in the area for another reason because it's far from my home and I rather go to the Hunt Club location, but I think it's great for Kanata residents. And it's breathing some much needed life into Hazeldean Mall. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot. (200)

The inside of the store is clean, the lighting is good, there's a lot of parking & direct access by bus. The only negative I would give to this store is that the aisles are a bit on the smaller side, and I can see this getting really busy. I went on a Thursday, it wasn't too busy but I was still having to navigate around people and bumping into a few others. Also, if you are someone that likes making soups and stocks you can get chicken bones here for $1 per pound
