Green Fresh Supermarket - Biggest carrots I've ever seen The produce here is amazing

Fresh and tons of it Biggest carrots I've ever seen!? Same with the seafood. I only go here for frozen shrimp and scallops now. Cheaper. Good quality. Steaks too, good cuts. Cheaper again. There is a seafood room with fresh lobsters, fish etc. There is a fresh food area where food goes by weight. I've done this x 2. Good but very expensive. Lots of packaged noodles which I love. So many things I've purchased on a whim. IE soup dumplings and frozen chive pancakes. Yum. Staff upon check out and in aisles... No. Not great but it won't stop me from coming.. and... 4 easy stars.

The Long Version: My parents first introduced me to Green Fresh when they only had one location (the OG that was on Selkirk, that has since closed down). It was dingy and run down, but had lots of Asian ingredients that they were looking for. And it was the closest Asian grocery store to where they lived. They were thrilled when it moved to McArthur and had a total facelift, it was new, bright and clean. Green Fresh then opened a second location in Nepean on Merivale, closer to my neck of the woods. Then in January 2025, they opened this third location in Kanata/Stittsville. It's in the Grant Crossing, where the Bed, Bath and Beyond used to be (next to the Value Village). This newest location is very similar to the Nepean location. It even has the same bubble tea vendor inside (Y-Not Go For Tea). Which is a bit funny because the first Y-Not Go For Tea location is inside the Hunt Club T&T and T&T and Green Fresh are competitors! The Vanier Green Fresh has a different bubble tea vendor though: World Tea House. I visited this Kanata/Stittsville location shortly after opening, so maybe they don't have all their stuff together yet because although they have a section labelled "Bakery" they didn't have any baked goods :( However, they do have a prepared food section. It's self-serve and you pay by the weight ($2.29 per 100g). They also have a counter where they make Jianbing, Chinese crepes. There was a huge line up for these when I went, so they are definitely popular. They have lots of items, including snacks (my favourite aisles), lol. Most of the products are from China, but they have items from other countries too. They had Kracie DIY gummy kits imported from Japan. And they were only $4.99. The west end is now flush with Asian grocery stores (T&T, Kowloon, now Green Fresh, and soon Sunny Food Mart) compared to the east end (to my parents' chagrin). I'd say the prices here are the lowest generally speaking. However, the prepared foods did not look as appetizing to me as at the other Asian grocery stores. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. Staff were friendly & offered help as well. Prices are very fair & clearly displayed with the items. They have a loyalty program to collect points so it'll be handy if you become a frequent shopper. Highly recommend!

I made a mental note to return sometime to check it out. When I got home I did some internet searching and discovered that they opened around December 2020, so they are relatively new. As the name suggests, it's an Indian Supermarket. It's not that large, but bigger than a convenience store. They sell some frozen foods, refrigerated foods, shelf-stable foods, and some prepared snacks and desserts (no prepared meals). No fresh produce nor fresh meats. Almost all of their items are imported from India. I picked up a Butter Chicken mix ($1.49) and an instant Kheer package ($2.79). As well as some prepared snacks: 2 vegetarian samosas ($0.79 each), a Manchurian puff ($2.29) and a pizza puff ($2.29). I loved that they had Falooda in bottles. Unfortunately they contained ingredients that I can't have, so I had to pass on them :( Their selection of spices and mixes was great. As was their selection of different types of flours, grains and pulses. However, I was disappointed with their selection of teas, cookies, and candies. The samosas and puffs were ok, but nothing special in my opinion. The samosas were particularly oily/greasy. The filling was mostly potatoes with some peas. They only had vegetarian samosas and this was their only variety. The puffs had minimal filling. I don't know what was supposed to be in the Manchurian puff but it just tasted like spices and dough. The pizza puff tasted like it was filled with just tomato sauce and spices, I didn't taste any cheese. They had Indian desserts like barfi. And also some cake slices. The cakes were advertised as egg-less, so good for those with egg allergies. Service was neutral. The supermarket is in the Emerald Plaza and is right next to Chatime. Lots of free parking.

TL;DR/The Short Version: Ottawa's second T&T Supermarket…read more Smaller than the first, but still has lots of cool Asian products. The Long Version: This T&T Supermarket location is in Hazeldean Mall in Kanata. It's where the Laura's Your Independent Grocer used to be. It just opened at the end of October 2024. We went the beginning of November 2024 so it was still brand spanking new. I took my parents here to check it out and see how it compares with the other location on Hunt Club. Our consensus was this Kanata location is smaller with less selection than the original location. We were happy to visit and see what it's all about, but since the Hunt Club location is closer to us, we'll continue to go to that location instead. The bakery section at this Kanata location is much smaller, as is the prepared foods section. I also noticed that they use sesame seeds in a lot more of their sushi than the Hunt Club location. As someone who can't eat sesame seeds and can rarely buy prepackaged sushi, this made me sad. They have dim sum and Chinese BBQ and also an area to eat the food you purchase. It's good court style seating. I did notice their impressive selection of imported Lay's chips. Their selection was comparable to the other location in this regard. I doubt I will return unless I'm already in the area for another reason because it's far from my home and I rather go to the Hunt Club location, but I think it's great for Kanata residents. And it's breathing some much needed life into Hazeldean Mall. Lots of free parking in the mall parking lot. (200)

The inside of the store is clean, the lighting is good, there's a lot of parking & direct access by bus. The only negative I would give to this store is that the aisles are a bit on the smaller side, and I can see this getting really busy. I went on a Thursday, it wasn't too busy but I was still having to navigate around people and bumping into a few others. Also, if you are someone that likes making soups and stocks you can get chicken bones here for $1 per pound

I was greeted by a super nice employee at the store who could have been the owner. It's an Eastern European focused market and deli and they have some great items. They have a lot of pre packaged snacks and drinks that come from overseas. They even have a local baker who provides them with sour dough daily!
