The produce is right at the entrance where we picked up a coconut and kumquat (which is a citrus but completely edible, peel and all). It was so much fun browsing the snacks and chips. While I didn't purchase any, the condiment aisle was heaven and they has everything from vinegars to oils. They have so many frozen food items like dumplings, korean dogs (filled with cheese), and ice creams. I was most excited to check out the bakery but there was not much of a selection. Fellow yelper, the amazing, Jennifer.P sums up the bakery section very well. The prepared food section was slim the night we went, and it looked like they were out of a lot of items. The refrigerated section was also sparse and maybe they did not have time to stock it up after the weekend (we went on a Monday evening around 7pm). I loved that they had plenty of vegetarian items like veggie jerky found in the chips aisle, and puffed tofu in the refrigerated aisle. While T&T blows it out of the water in terms of prepared items and their bakery, Green Fresh has some amazing shelf stable hard to find items.

Most products from China, but I saw items imported from Japan, Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam and Thailand as well. The Long Version: I've been awaiting the opening of this grocery store ever since I saw the sign go up back in March of 2024. Their grand opening was October 19, 2024. I went the day after and have been back once since then. I've been to the Green Fresh on McArthur Ave and in fact have been to the original location when it was still on Selkirk St before it moved to McArthur. It was dingy and not the cleanest when it was on Selkirk, but when it moved to McArthur it cleaned up its act and became a place that was much more enjoyable to shop at. This second location on Merivale is even better. So big, bright and clean. I enjoyed looking at their chips and candies, lol. They also have hot foods and prepared sushi. They have a "Cake" section, but it's not a bakery with traditional cakes. It's just some packaged Swiss Rolls-type cakes and I think packaged mini Japanese-style cheesecakes. Their bakery section is all prepackaged items as well, mostly Filipino items like pandesal and also bread from Grey Matlock Bakery (Nigerian breads - not Asian at all, but hey I embrace inclusivity, lol). Their hot foods section has mostly Chinese food and some Indian food (samosas and I think I saw some pakoras as well). It's by the weight and you serve yourself then they weigh it and you pay at the prepared foods counter. The seafood section is in a separate room, so it really cuts down on the smell. In fact, I didn't notice any fish smell while in the store (I did not enter the "seafood room."). Service was satisfactory. Not super friendly, but not rude. Just neutral. The grocery store is where the Bad Boy Furniture used to be. It was a Future Shop before that. And for a few Halloween seasons it was a Spirit Halloween. There's lots of free parking in the parking lot out front. (198)

They have shelf-stable items, refrigerated and frozen products and a small selection of fresh produce. For prepared foods, they have sushi from Sapporo Sushi and Poke bowls from Mr. Poke. They have some Gimbap, and Japchae too, I believe from Raon Kitchen, but I'm not entirely sure on that. They do carry Raon Kitchen kimchi. I love that they have a few freezers devoted to Korean ice cream!! You can buy by the box or individual bars. Their prices are quite good. I bought a couple of individual ice cream bars and they were $1.20 each . I bought some sliced rice cakes to make Tteokguk and a 500g bag was only $3. I also bought a 50g bag of dried seaweed for $3.69. All items were imported from South Korea. There's lots of free parking in the plaza parking lot.

I made a mental note to return sometime to check it out. When I got home I did some internet searching and discovered that they opened around December 2020, so they are relatively new. As the name suggests, it's an Indian Supermarket. It's not that large, but bigger than a convenience store. They sell some frozen foods, refrigerated foods, shelf-stable foods, and some prepared snacks and desserts (no prepared meals). No fresh produce nor fresh meats. Almost all of their items are imported from India. I picked up a Butter Chicken mix ($1.49) and an instant Kheer package ($2.79). As well as some prepared snacks: 2 vegetarian samosas ($0.79 each), a Manchurian puff ($2.29) and a pizza puff ($2.29). I loved that they had Falooda in bottles. Unfortunately they contained ingredients that I can't have, so I had to pass on them :( Their selection of spices and mixes was great. As was their selection of different types of flours, grains and pulses. However, I was disappointed with their selection of teas, cookies, and candies. The samosas and puffs were ok, but nothing special in my opinion. The samosas were particularly oily/greasy. The filling was mostly potatoes with some peas. They only had vegetarian samosas and this was their only variety. The puffs had minimal filling. I don't know what was supposed to be in the Manchurian puff but it just tasted like spices and dough. The pizza puff tasted like it was filled with just tomato sauce and spices, I didn't taste any cheese. They had Indian desserts like barfi. And also some cake slices. The cakes were advertised as egg-less, so good for those with egg allergies. Service was neutral. The supermarket is in the Emerald Plaza and is right next to Chatime. Lots of free parking.

They also have the lowest prices in the city that I've seen for Kracie DIY candy kits imported from Japan ($4.99). Their prices are a bit cheaper than other Asian supermarkets in general. They have a weekly flyer with even more discounts posted on their website. There is a bubble tea shop inside the supermarket called World Tea House and also a kiosk that sells bubble waffles called Nana Egg Bubbles. They don't have any other prepared foods though (like no BBQ station) and no Bakery. If you're looking for Asian items, you'll likely find it here. Free parking in their private parking lot.

I already had a lot of the ingredients at home, but I was missing a few and didn't want to make the trip across town to the grocery store that was recommended to us. Barrhaven Market was closer and we were doing errands in the area that day, anyway, so we thought we'd pop in. It might've been a little overwhelming had I not had a grocery list with me! They don't have fresh produce, but there are a ton of spices, baking and other cooking supplies, canned goods and shelf-stable items, some baked goods, frozen food, fresh meats, cheeses, and even beauty supplies. There was a whole spice aisle and I was tempted to buy a bunch of things that weren't on my list, but I didn't have much time to browse and had to stick to the plan. I was able to find the mahleb (ground St. Lucie cherry pits), 7-spice, and yeast pretty easily. There was a shade thing that was covering all of the meat and cheese and my husband tried to open it, but it wouldn't give for some reason and we didn't want to break anything. It was a bit hard to see what was behind it, so I asked the only employee there for some help. He pulled up the shade really fast and immediately picked up the akawie cheese I was looking for. He asked if I needed anything else on my list, and I had another cheese on it (kashkaval), but he said they no longer have it because it wasn't very popular or selling very well. I wasn't too worried about the prices, since I was looking for convenience more than value, but everything I got was affordable. The staff member was super helpful, there's a plastic (plexiglass?) screen at the cash, and it was pretty empty in the middle of the weekday, so no issues with crowding. I'll definitely be back!

T&T stands for Tina & Tiffany, after the founder's 2 daughters. T&T are also the initials of 2 early investors as well. You can find this market in the same plaza as Mary Brown's Chicken & Taters with plenty of parking. I love shopping at T&T Supermarket with such a vast selection of fresh produce, seafood/ meat, dried and fresh noodles, bakery goods, teas, premade foods/ meals, etc (there is also a hot food bar you can pick from and serve yourself and pay by the weight). My husband and I stopped by this particular location this afternoon. It was pretty busy, but that was expected on a Saturday. We got our cart (requires $1 to use but you will get it back after you return it) and then went inside to shop. Coming from Montreal and shopping there earlier this week, I was surprised to find that some of the same items at this location actually cost a little more. For example, I was looking for this special Hong Kong Milk Tea bag that saw that it cost $1 more for the box than at the location in Montreal. I like that this market is clean and does not have that familiar smell that some Asian markets may have. Aisles are wide enough to navigate your cart through and each aisle is labeled accordingly to help shoppers find where they may want to shop in. During this shopping visit, my husband and I ended up purchasing a live lobster. He really wanted to get some seafood during our trip and also that the vacation rental we are staying in has a good size steamer in the kitchen and figured it would be good to cook it while we are here. For lobster and crabs, you pick the one you want and place it in one of the plastic baskets, then you can bring it up to the employee behind the seafood counter and they will weight it for you, bag it and place a price sticker on it for you. I like that there is a self check out area, as the line for that went by so much faster than the other lines. Overall, a positive experience and would frequent this location if I lived here.

The Long Version: My parents first introduced me to Green Fresh when they only had one location (the OG that was on Selkirk, that has since closed down). It was dingy and run down, but had lots of Asian ingredients that they were looking for. And it was the closest Asian grocery store to where they lived. They were thrilled when it moved to McArthur and had a total facelift, it was new, bright and clean. Green Fresh then opened a second location in Nepean on Merivale, closer to my neck of the woods. Then in January 2025, they opened this third location in Kanata/Stittsville. It's in the Grant Crossing, where the Bed, Bath and Beyond used to be (next to the Value Village). This newest location is very similar to the Nepean location. It even has the same bubble tea vendor inside (Y-Not Go For Tea). Which is a bit funny because the first Y-Not Go For Tea location is inside the Hunt Club T&T and T&T and Green Fresh are competitors! The Vanier Green Fresh has a different bubble tea vendor though: World Tea House. I visited this Kanata/Stittsville location shortly after opening, so maybe they don't have all their stuff together yet because although they have a section labelled "Bakery" they didn't have any baked goods :( However, they do have a prepared food section. It's self-serve and you pay by the weight ($2.29 per 100g). They also have a counter where they make Jianbing, Chinese crepes. There was a huge line up for these when I went, so they are definitely popular. They have lots of items, including snacks (my favourite aisles), lol. Most of the products are from China, but they have items from other countries too. They had Kracie DIY gummy kits imported from Japan. And they were only $4.99. The west end is now flush with Asian grocery stores (T&T, Kowloon, now Green Fresh, and soon Sunny Food Mart) compared to the east end (to my parents' chagrin). I'd say the prices here are the lowest generally speaking. However, the prepared foods did not look as appetizing to me as at the other Asian grocery stores. Free parking in the plaza parking lot. They also have items made in Canada but the type of food is native to other countries. I have been looking for dhalpuri roti shells in Ottawa forever and there are so few places that sell them. They sell them here at Geeland, but only frozen, not fresh. And only 1 brand. They were 3 shells for $5.69. They were made in Canada and I think shipped from Toronto. They also had a whole shelf of stuff to make Halo-Halo! They had a fridge full of exotic drinks too. I was hoping for a counter of prepared foods, but they just had some savoury pastries by the cash register. They had 3 different types and so I got one of each. Nigerian patty ($2.25), Haitian patty ($1.50) and Jamaican beef patty ($1.75). I'll start with the Nigerian meat pie, because that's the only one that I've never had before. It was the biggest and thickest with the most filling. The pastry was similar to that of baked Argentinian empanadas. The filling was ground meat with potatoes and carrots. I'm not sure if it was the spices or the meat, but there was a gamey taste to it that I did not enjoy. I would be open to trying Nigerian meat pies again elsewhere, but I will likely not be getting these ones again. I've had Haitian patties before and they are similar to the French-influenced Vietnamese puff pastry called "pâté chaud" or "banh pâté so." Since both Haiti and Vietnam were at one time French colonies, this is unsurprisingly that they would have some similar French-influeneced dishes. The pastry was puff pastry and the filling was ground meat. There was very little filling to pastry ratio though. The majority of the patty was puff pastry, and the puff pastry was really oily/greasy. I did not like the one at Geeland. I love Jamaican beef patties. When I was in middle school there was a Korean convenience store up the street from my school that sold Jamaican beef patties (that's the cultural mosaic that is Canada for you!), and that's pretty much where all my allowance went, haha. Anyway, the ones at Geeland remind me of those patties I had once upon a time. The pastry was flakey. The filling was not too plentiful, but nice and hot (both in temperature and in spice level). I've had better tasting patties, but nostalgia sometimes trumps taste, lol. Overall, I'm giving this grocery store 4 stars because it's fairly large, clean, well-lit, and sells items that are hard to find in Ottawa. Staff were friendly and there's free parking on site.
