Since the Buzz disappeared mid-pandemic, there has been a wine bar sized hole in the heart of Centretown. My first introduction to Buyers and Cellars was a birthday celebration where my friend treated me to a tasting. It was every bit as girly and glamorous as you imagine. We were all dressed up and sampled 5 wines - 1 oz each and "travelled" from the Alps of Switzerland and Italy to Chile. My friend and I chatted happily in between tastings while the sommelier regaled us with stories of each winery, how long they had been in business, and how many of the wines they sell can only be found here. Imagine! These rich tasting wines not available anywhere else in the country. The wine from the Alps , for example, is only made in very small batches. I bought a bottle and I was hooked. I have since gone back twice - once when I was in a pinch and couldn't get to the LCBO or it was close to closing - and this evening. The second time I came away with two bottles and a free glass of wine. Tonight, I stopped in to pick up a nice bottle of wine for dinner on Friday, and asked if it wasn't too busy if I could sit and have a drink. The sommelier happily obliged and poured me three 1oz glasses, each of a rossa, carmeniere and a Croatian red wine. The Croatian, called Dika, was my favourite, so I bought two bottles ($60). The bartender comped my tasting, and I was happily on my way... but I'll be back!

There is no need to drive all over the city for photo options if your wedding is at Orchard View - there is a Gazebo, several bridges over beautiful water features, rock features with water falls, beautiful trees, and even inside the venue is spectacular! The food was also very good - we were treated to appetizers (the combination platter of cheeses was my favourite), drinks (non-alcoholic punch was really yummy for the dd), and a four course meal. The venue also offer a late night buffet option. The chandeliers inside the venue are beautiful are really add to the space. I would be very happy to attend another wedding here and also consider the venue myself if I weren't already married - maybe we will just get married again! One tip though - as a guest, don't be late - the design of this location makes it REALLY obvious if you are late!

We've seen both Strung Out and The Planet Smashers here, and it's the perfect size for an up-close, personal experience with top-tier bands. Absolutely worth the trip. The drinks are great, too! I'm a non-alcoholic drinker and my wife loves a good pilsner, so we appreciate having options we both enjoy. The bathrooms are clean, parking is easy, and the staff is always fantastic. We love this place so much that we regularly check their calendar specifically to find our next show there. When the venue itself is part of the reason you buy a ticket and make the drive, you know they're doing something right. Can't wait to come back!

Drivers take note: the road up Le Belvedere is basically a glorified dirt path. It was extremely steep and twisty. I cannot imagine what it would be like to drive through in the rain. Let's just say with drove with great caution! Also, be sure to keep a look out for the street signs because the GPS on my iPhone didn't recognize all of the tiny roads. Once you safely reach your destination, you will find a pretty building overlooking gorgeous trees and lakes as far as the eye can see! It was truly spectacular. The view alone is worth the trek up the hill! The building itself is a decent size. The wedding I attended was around 120 people and we all fit comfortably inside. There are massive windows showcasing the spectacular views, a bar, patio/deck space, and even a fire pit for those chilly nights. The food was good, as far as wedding food goes. I had grilled salmon with vegetables. The salmon itself was overcooked. The outside was actually crunchy, almost more like chicken than fish. However, the flavors were great and the presentation was very appealing. The drinks at the bar were very tasty and the bartenders were super friendly. All of the staff we encountered were very hospitable and helpful. It made the wedding experience very enjoyable, at least from a guest perspective! Overall, I would say, if you are willing to make the drive out, Le Belvedere is an excellent event destination.

The sub woofers have ample power and there were over a dozen speakers pouring top quality sound onto the dancefloor. I think this is a great place to have a wedding. It was worth the approximately 60 minute drive from Ottawa. If you're driving, ask for directions before you go, the GPS satellites get poor reception up in these hills/mountains and all of the big 3 cell companies lose signal here at times.

The garden centre is open till 5:00 but the cafe closes at 2:30. They do cater weddings, and as a result this facility is more upscale; expect to pay over $30 per person. They will provide the staff, linens, and food of your choice. I will keep trying to get to the cafe for breakfast or lunch, and re-evaluate the experience once I am able to do that.
