Our group were all locals and we all enjoyed the tour and didn't know the majority of what was talked about. Get ready to learn some real colourful stories of Ottawa! I also appreciated the path the tour takes. It's very scenic and uses areas none of us had been before which was also super cool to learn about and made for some amazing photo locations too!

Cost me for 2 adults, 2 kids just under 100 cad. Our guide was Hanna and she was excellent. Overall she seemed extremely knowledgeable about the area and added a little theatrical approach to her story telling. It's a short walk to the prison but once inside it's a throw back to 100+ years in the past. Spooky and fun. Not overly scary for my 10 and 7 yo. If I'm ever back in the area I'll definitely be checking out one of their other tours. My kids loved it.

Wesley Clover Parks has several areas of interest, of which some are: Ian Miller School of…read moreHorsemanship, Ottawa Equestrian Tournaments, Sports Fields, Trails, Campground, Farming, and a Forest School. It's difficult to fully review the "parks" - so this review will focus on the Equestrian Park. The parks have an interesting history - the National Equestrian Park was the first iteration with construction starting in 1974 via a lease of the lands by the City of Ottawa. In 2012, the city gave up the lease. The land use was up in the air for a few years, until a new lease was awarded to Wesley-Clover Foundation - my best guess was in or around 2018. Over the past several years, incremental improvements have been made. Was out there today and it is looking beautiful. The grounds are in great shape, the show rings are beautifully groomed and the cross-country area was gorgeous. Not sure what the riders thought of the course, but from a spectator point of view, I was able to see 80% of the course from my chosen vantage point. (The one draw back to this course is how flat it is - but you can't have everything!) In addition to the grounds improvements, there is now what seems to be a semi-permanent café for special events with typical horse-show foods (coffee, grilled food - like grilled cheese, pastries) - and another Coffee trailer was also on the grounds (with delicious butter tarts by the way), so I hope this trend keeps up. I was there for a Horse Trial, which tends to be lower key than Hunter Jumper, Stadium Jump and Dressage - I can only imagine that more horse-related vendors show up at the bigger shows. Very glad to see such great things happening here.

Magic of Lights is a drive through light display. It's $20-30 a car, depending on day of the week (more expensive on weekends) and method of payment (cheaper if you buy in advance online, more expensive if you pay cash at the entrance). You can also tune into MAJIC 100.3 FM on your radio to hear Christmas music while you drive through the lights show. I did Magic of Lights with my husband and father-in-law. It was fun to do once, but I don't think that I would do it again, especially considering the cost. They had different themes through the display such as fairy tales/nursery rhymes, Nativity scene, the 12 Days of Christmas, Christmas around the world, and a few others. I think its something I would have enjoyed more if I was a kid. I have never been to Wesley Clover Park except for the Magic of Lights. However, the park is a campground. You can also do cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, field sports, and horseback riding there too.

Went for the Byward Market Dinner hopping tour on Victoria Day long weekend…read more Everything was done very professionally, and being able to just sit down, get wine and food brought to you and then leave without worrying about a bill is pretty hard to beat. The restaurants you get taken to will vary depending on a few factors, such as how big your tour group is and how busy the restaurants are. Our tour host was very knowledgeable and took care of any concerns we had along the way. Just a few constructive criticisms - Our online booking caused a bit of trouble but our host made sure to get us caught up with our group. If you are booking last minute, I would email or call to make sure your booking was received. Be EARLY since they start right on time or even early. - The walking tour portion of Byward market could use some expanding. It's nice to learn about the history of everything and what's going on, but since you are on such a tight schedule, there's only time to stop for a minute or two at a handful of spots. - I'm a meat lover and was a bit sad we didn't get more meat, but this could be restaurant specific. Portion sizes were okay, about what you'd expect at restaurants going for quality over quantity.

Having four different dishes at four different restaurants is definitely my idea of a great meal out! We hit up the Brig for a cheese plate, Play for salad, Kinki for sushi and Must for dessert. All the restaurants were really accommodating to our various dietary restrictions (trust me when I say we were a challenging crowd)! Corey really went out of his way to make sure we were taken care of at each place. Highly recommended!!

I went to a Gala Dinner at the Infinity Convention Centre recently. While the place was modern and…read moreclean looking, and the service was very good, the food fell short of my expectations. The function occupied Salon B&C, which I would say would fit about 400 people. The chandeliers were beautiful and there was a pretty water structure in the lobby that served as a nice backdrop for photos. We had a four course meal. The first course was a roasted tomato bisque. I ate one spoonful and gave the rest to my husband (and he ate it not because he thought it was delicious, but because he was incredibly hungry (as was I, but my actions were still as such)). I found the soup incredibly watery and the texture was not smooth. It tasted to me like watered down pasta sauce. Fortunately, the food got better from there. The second course was a salad which consisted of mixed greens wrapped in cucumber slices, with olives, grape tomatoes, mini bocconcini cheese balls, and croutons. The presentation was interesting with the salad wrapped in the cucumber. I still don't know how they kept it together because there was no toothpick. The taste was satisfactory. The dressing was a little too oily with not enough flavour in my opinion. However, the vegetables were fresh. The main course was a Tandoori chicken breast with basmati rice and roasted vegetables, with raita on top. I found the rice on the dry side, and the vegetables (zucchini, squash, and sweet potato) not particularly flavourful. The chicken had a mild tandoori taste to it, and I appreciated that it was de-boned, save for the wing drumette. The chicken was moist, so at least it wasn't dry. The dessert was my favourite course. It was a chocolate hazelnut mousse with meringue and half a strawberry. The mousse was rich and creamy and the meringue was fluffy and delicious. The servers were all very good and competent. This convention centre is by the airport and surrounded by many hotels. I think the location is convenient for events where attendees may be flying in and staying near the airport. There is free parking in their private parking lot.

The only downside to the night was that a wedding beside ours were not following the rules for outside equipment and when loud music could be played, which put a huge damper on the speeches as no one could hear them.
