Wesley Clover Parks has several areas of interest, of which some are: Ian Miller School of Horsemanship, Ottawa Equestrian Tournaments, Sports Fields, Trails, Campground, Farming, and a Forest School. It's difficult to fully review the "parks" - so this review will focus on the Equestrian Park. The parks have an interesting history - the National Equestrian Park was the first iteration with construction starting in 1974 via a lease of the lands by the City of Ottawa. In 2012, the city gave up the lease. The land use was up in the air for a few years, until a new lease was awarded to Wesley-Clover Foundation - my best guess was in or around 2018. Over the past several years, incremental improvements have been made. Was out there today and it is looking beautiful. The grounds are in great shape, the show rings are beautifully groomed and the cross-country area was gorgeous. Not sure what the riders thought of the course, but from a spectator point of view, I was able to see 80% of the course from my chosen vantage point. (The one draw back to this course is how flat it is - but you can't have everything!) In addition to the grounds improvements, there is now what seems to be a semi-permanent café for special events with typical horse-show foods (coffee, grilled food - like grilled cheese, pastries) - and another Coffee trailer was also on the grounds (with delicious butter tarts by the way), so I hope this trend keeps up. I was there for a Horse Trial, which tends to be lower key than Hunter Jumper, Stadium Jump and Dressage - I can only imagine that more horse-related vendors show up at the bigger shows. Around Christmas they hold "Magic of Lights" at Wesley Clover Park. This year it is November 21, 2019 - January 4, 2020, every night 5pm-10pm. Magic of Lights is a drive through light display. It's $20-30 a car, depending on day of the week (more expensive on weekends) and method of payment (cheaper if you buy in advance online, more expensive if you pay cash at the entrance). You can also tune into MAJIC 100.3 FM on your radio to hear Christmas music while you drive through the lights show. I did Magic of Lights with my husband and father-in-law. It was fun to do once, but I don't think that I would do it again, especially considering the cost. They had different themes through the display such as fairy tales/nursery rhymes, Nativity scene, the 12 Days of Christmas, Christmas around the world, and a few others. I think its something I would have enjoyed more if I was a kid. I have never been to Wesley Clover Park except for the Magic of Lights. However, the park is a campground. You can also do cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, field sports, and horseback riding there too. read more

I don't know much about this place during the other 11.5 months of the year butttt their Christmas Light display is absolutely spectacular. Okay, so the entrance price on a Tuesday was $35 for the car (you pay by the car) and it was pretty busy. You drive through the park for about 20-30 minutes as you look at the light displays. It was quite impressive and enjoyable. Some points: use the washroom before you get there because they have 2 portable toilets at the entrance and a few at the exit and nothing in between. For food, there is nothing at the actual Magic of Lights area but there is a place called 'pit stop' which has one Beaver tails food truck but it was closed when we went - the pit stop is a bit if a waste of time if you ask me especially because you have to snake through traffic to get in or out of there. While I'm the park, there are themes areas that are quite tastefully set up. It's not just a Christmas thing - there's Hanukkah lights, Kwanza etc. It was a fun evening and I do recommend going. read more

This is a lovely campground not far from Ottawa and the green belt hikes all around. There are several clusters of sites for camping or small trailers with water and electricity which is a nice plus. Big bonus they allow pets ! The campgrounds also has Wifi but in our plot (6C) we had no reception. There were only 2 things that annoyed me on this campground: 1. There is a cut tin device for making a camp-fire BUT you are not allowed to bring wood from outside or gather it in the wood (there are so many dead wood perfect for a fire) only to buy from them. Other sites usully have no problem with this. 2. They have a small shop- super expensive. Better but everything outside Overall a nice, clean, quiet campground. Very green you will enjoy your time just dont forget Mosquito REPELLENT ! read more

We have always found the staff at the Wesley clover campground to be very courteous and helpful. all staff no matter what department were fantastic. We enjoy camping here because it is close to home and all stores if something has been forgotten. Prices are are very good, and we like that being seniors, are given a discount. Washrooms are clean and well serviced. We have been up here quite often in the last few years, our last time here we were surprised to see the racoons. We always lock down all food and garbage so we were very surprised when our dog started growling at 2a.m. We are In a trailor so we were not afraid of the dog getting out. We highly recommend this campground to all of our friends, because a lot of people do not know that you are so close to home. Keep up the good work, and thank you to all the staff. we will be back at Thanksgiving, and for sure if you have your light show, we will not miss it, it will be our 3rd time for the show. read more

I visited for the Shania Twain concert. Worst experience. Shania was great, but I will never be coming back here again. The concert was way too overbooked for such a small and unprepared location. It was an outdoor no seating concert (unless you were in VIP where you sat on bleachers). There was not enough food and water for anybody and the lineups were hours long. There was a lack of control in alcohol and there were extremely drunk people everywhere. There was also a lot of underage drinking, and a lack of security as well. The instructions were very unclear on when the actual concert started. You were informed to be there at 2pm for general admission and 12:30pm for VIP. Shania did not get on stage until 9pm. Many people were tired and hungry. There were seniors, handicapped, and children in the crowds who I bet were exhausted. You felt extremely unsafe at time as fights broke out in the crowd. The sound was also bad. You could barely hear Shania at times. The tickets were way too overpriced for what you got. After the concert you were told to wait at a certain point to get on a shuttle bus back to the parking lot at the Canadian Tire Center (paid $20 for parking there). When we got there there was a huge cluster of people all waiting with no order. There was no lineups to get on the buses. Just pushing and shoving to get on first. Buses started passing by us already full and we then found out people were walking to the beginning of the street and forcing themselves onto the buses before the assigned pick up spot. The wait was like 2 hours to get on the shuttle home and the crowds got to the point where they were so frustrated from waiting that they started an angry mob mentality and began standing in the middle of the roads to stop buses to let them in. Banging on buses, shaking/pushing passing cars, cursing at staff, and trying to walk home. The police had to come in to control the angry crowd. It was scary. I ended up getting home at 2am exhausted. I read some people got home at 4am. Wesley clover parks, you guys messed up bad. I will never be visiting again. read more
