We asked for two hours but we returned them in 1.5 hrs. They only charged us for the 1.5 hours we used the bikes, not the two hours we indicated we would use the bikes. The scenery is beautiful and I would recommend riding bikes around the waters edge. It was fun and safe. It was one of my favorite activities.

Some things to note to make it a 5-star experience: I would recommend walking through some basic safety rules at the start. Things to cover include how and where you should park yourself if you have to briefly stop on the trail, how to deal with someone who is stopped in front of you on the trail, or how to pass pedestrians safely, where should you do when you stop as a group if you have multiple people, etc. Given that Ottawa can be busy, a little overview of these rules/guidelines would go a very long way. I also felt that we ended up stopping a little more frequently than I would have liked on the latter half of the tour - mostly buildings I don't really even remember! Nevertheless, had a blast and would recommend it anyway!

Where do I start?I will give a caveat emptor: the check-in process is unreasonably complicated…read more When you first arrive at the Duvernay Studios & Suits, you will find the door is locked and you have to go to a second hotel down the street to check in. Once you've checked in, if you are driving, they give you a fob and tag the location on your phone's maps app. This will bring you to the third hotel, which is across the street from this one. You will park here and find your way to street level. You will walk up the street to the hotel, but the schlep doesn't end here. You still have to open the door, which uses a turnkey. Pull it open, keep it properly open while lifting your luggage up the steps, but wait, there is more. In the off chance you're not worn out, you have to walk up stairs. The 1st floor is actually marked 2. Breakfast isn't free, but there are a few choices that are equidistant in comparison to where they would have you walk to buy breakfast from them. Now, I will say some nice things about this place: the location-- you are right near the art walk, which is a plus since you can walk around and see the art walk at night and get out photos of the art walk at night, the history museum, and the market where you can grab some food and/ or drinks. Now, if you are up for a short drive, there is a bagel shop just up the street. From there, Parliament Hill is not too close, directly across the Ottawa River, and is accessible by crossing the Alexandra Bridge. From here, Byward Market isn't far. I recommend dining here at least once during your stay. Now, the room-- it is basic, but if you plan to cook for yourself, this is the hotel for you. Now, a few more negatives to highlight: the bathroom looks like the architect was inspired by Barbie's dream house; the very flimsy lock on the door is a key lock; the second night and the following night here, I was awoken to a person going nuts in the hall. Also, this place feels like the place an outlaw could hide from the police. The only real saving grace is the housekeeping staff, who are friendly and expedient when in your room. Otherwise mediocre stay, horrible sleep(pro-tip; Bring your own pillow theirs are as flat as. Pancake) . Gordon Ramsey needs to see this place.

The worst part is that there's no check in at the hotel you have to go to another hotel that's within a third of a mile and check in there first. If you don't have bags it's not a big deal. The room was spacious, the refrigerator was noisy and you're given teo chicklet size pillows that are fairly flat. The location is absolutely the best part about it except for the distance from the front desk. If you are doing business nearby I say go ahead and give it a try. Oh yeah and bring an extension cord and a multiple power outlet they only have a couple outlets in the room and this was a real disappointment.

In about 90 minutes, the tour shuttled me past some of the city's relevant historic, cultural and government sights including through the adjoining town of Gatineau just across the Ottawa River in the province of Quebec. My tour guide was skilled in her presentation of local sights and their history. She had an amicable style with a pleasant voice and kept things light-hearted. Given the bilingual nature of this capital region and its environs, she provided fluent narration in English and French. The most common European languages are also available via headset. The bus driver safely managed the big bus through congested streets. I chose a 90-minute round-trip tour ticket for $25.25 CAD (does not include tax) per adult without the hop-off option. The all-day hop on, hop off ticket runs $34 CAD (does not include tax). The double-decker open-top bus was clean and provided great views. The brochure advertises 14 hop-on, hop-off sightseeing stops. The ticket office is centrally located and slightly kitty-corner from Parliament Hill. Public restrooms are located at the Capital Information Kiosk about a five-minute walk from the bus departure. Restaurants are nearby and plentiful. I parked my vehicle for $10 at an all-day lot where St. Patrick and Murray streets merge across from the National Gallery of Canada with an easy walk to the Lady Dive ticket office.

Today, they only make collector and investment coins while the facility in Winnipeg makes normal coins that circulate with the public. The Ottawa mint offers a 45 minute guided tour and has a boutique where you can shop for coins afterwards. You will learn a couple of things here and there during the tour, but it's nothing to write home about. Overall, it's a fun way to spend an hour if you're near the National Art Gallery or the Basilica. I would also suggest checking out the Bank of Canada Museum, which has a free admission and an interactive exhibit about money.

This mint does not mint coins used in circulation nor does it print bills (but the Royal Bank of Canada does....and their tour is free!). We enjoyed some of the displays you could stick your face into just outside the mint to make you look like a coin...sort of lol. Inside, the gift shop was definitely aimed towards collectors but it also sold a hodgepodge of items like that for the Canadian Air Force, indigenous tribes, and generally cute Canadian stuffed animals. If you are looking for a specific coin, they probably also won't have it as they only carry the most current collections given their "first to handle" policy. I thought it could have done better by including some general "royal canadian mint" souvenir items. Downstairs is where the tour takes place - bummer the manufacturing floor wasn't active when we were there. No photos or videos are allowed either. Our tour was informative but only because we had a pretty inquisitive group, otherwise our guide seemed to try to use the silent videos to guide the tour and only pointed to a few machines along the way. It's an interesting tour but compared to say Parliament, this is definitely lower tier.
