Abdul and his team at A-List Charters were the most budget conscious and accommodating. As with most events, unexpected needs do come up at the last minute. We had originally needed two shuttles for twenty guests however that number doubled three days before our wedding. Abdul worked with us to provide the necessary transportation to help get our guests on time, to and from our wedding. How I found out the name of this cab company after my trip experience, is that it popped up on my credit card alerts due to it being a foreign transaction and all. I then looked up the name on yelp and started to file this very review. I'm not opposed to taking taxis and all, but they are really pricey comparably to other forms of transportation and that's probably why there's that momentum swing to the ride share companies that came about in the early 2000's. Since I was at my hotel, I asked the front desk to request a taxi service that accepts credit cards. Last thing you need is finding out that it's cash only and you don't have any on you to pay. That's usually an ongoing nightmare for me when I am out and about. This transaction was really short and sweet, although it was about $42 CAD for about 20 km worth of driving. Not sure if it's worth it, but it got me to where I was going and fast, so I'm not complaining too much. For the most part, Bob's Taxi operates out of Gatineau, QC but does service throughout Gatineau, Ottawa, and all points in between. Not sure if they go to Montreal, but that would be a huge fare and 2 hours worth of driving. I ended up sitting in the front seat of the cab and made small talk with the driver, which was good. After telling him I was visiting from HI, USA, he offered to tell me stuff along the route back to the airport. It was nice to have that bit of information going forward. This taxi cab company accepts major credit cards, as well as cash, so that's always a good thing. The can itself was your traditional yellow cab, but the vehicle itself seemed dated, but still comfortable anyway. The taxi cab zoomed from Gatineau to the Ottawa international airport on a nice Thursday morning around 9:45am. Think it took about 20 minutes total trip time. For what it's worth, taxis are useful in many ways. Like anything, if you need them, they'll always will be there. Although they can cost a lot more than Lyft and Uber, rest assured that the traditional taxi industry will be here for a long time. Ride sharing is still relatively new and still growing, whereas many people know taxis and know where to find them, if needed. The overall experience with Bob's Taxi was as good as you would expect. The small talk during the ride was nice and it was nice to see other places within Ottawa I would have not seen, even if it's at 20 mph. For what it's worth, your time is important and money can be remade. Take taxis to help make your time work for you instead of just wasting it. At least, that's what I think. While I do believe in budget conscious travel, sometimes, you just get cornered into the wrong place and you just need a taxi to get where you need to go. I'm just glad that they are there whenever you need it. Fast service at a premium. Yep, that's taxis for ya. The driver was an older gentleman. Not sure if he's the owner Bob or just an employee of the company. 4 stars for sure. Got me there fast, but a little disgusted with the high fare. Oh well, what can you do really. Support local! B
