SCAM - Capital Taxi spotted in Kingston scamming people. They park on the side of the road and someone hops out pretending that the taxi doesn't take cash so they ask someone walking by to pay for the fare with their card in exchange for cash. The driver will take the card and swap it out with a fake one while the "passenger" distracts you. They will take your card and spend money or withdraw cash. Be careful. And for the management of Capital Taxi, I hope you guys deal with this and make sure your taxi drivers aren't scamming random people. read more

I took a cab from Milestone's restaurant in Kanata to take me to Westboro. I had to give the driver explicit instructions every step of the way: we go east not west on the Queensway, we don' t take the Woodroffe exit, we take the Maitland exit, we go north, not south, on Maitland, we go east, not west, when we get to Carling avenue, etc. This driver could not possibly have a cab driver's license, but when I filled out a complaint form I was told that my complaint couldn't be processed at the present time and I would have to do it again later. I got the same error message on my next two attempts. This is monumentally incompetent. read more

I was impressed with Capital Taxi today for two reasons: when I called for a pickup, they texted me to say my car was enroute; and with the text comes a link to track its location along with a photo of the driver, so you really know when your cab arrives! It was quick and efficient. Edited to add: one of the passengers with me gets around with a walker, and the driver was very accommodating. There was plenty of space in the trunk for the walker, and he helped put it in and take it out. read more

My patient had a dead battery when he was done with his appointment with me. The neighbor business suggested calling a taxi as they usually have jumper cables. Sure enough, for $25, they got my patient up and running, arriving less than 5 min after I placed the call. A 4:30 AM ride was arranged to the airport for an International flight. At 4:35 a car was still not there so I called the dispatcher and was assured he was 2 minutes away. 10 minutes later he was still not there so I called the dispatcher again to be informed that the driver said I was a no show despite the fact that I had been standing in the middle of my laneway with 2 suitcases freezing my ass off since 4:25 AM waiting for the ride . Bold face liar. He assured me that another car was 5 minutes away yet 20 minutes later still no car. I had to wake my sick daughter to take me to the airport in order to catch my flight. read more

Date of incident- June 16th 2017 Over charged twice and never got a response back from the company regarding this issue. They OWE me money. I was charged 27$ for a ride that was 4.4 KM. On top of that the app said 10-12$ (uber is $7-10) I had to pay $16.00 debit because I was told by Dispatcher that I would get the $27.00 refund on my card. After a few days I decided to email the company and I still have not received an email response or any refund. Just wanted to bring the attention to how dangerous some of their drivers can be. I was driving a bus this morning on bank street and was stopped at bank and slater southbound at the red light. A capital taxi was behind me. He decided to anticipate the green light and pass me through the intersection. This was during rush hour and if anyone was still in the intersection they would have been hit. We took capital taxi twice when we visited Ottawa & I'm not sure why they have such bad reviews from other people. Hubby & I had a nicer experience with our driver Roy than the Blueline taxi that took us from the airport to our B&B. Our Blueline taxi driver seemed to take a round-about route from the airport to our B&B to drum up the charge. How do I know? When we took Capital Taxi from our B&B back to the airport we got there in about 15 mins with less turns & etc whereas our Blueline taxi ride took us about 25 mins with the same amount of traffic. read more

If I could rate a no star rating I would. I called for a van and was told their was a 10 to 20 minutes wait which I expected which is why I called ahead of time. 30 minutes later still no assigned vehicule. 1 hour later I finally received a text saying a cab was on the way. I tracked (cab #C556) 15 minutes away, 13 minutes away and then all of a sudden no more assigned vehicule. Called back and was told they cant force their drivers to take the call I told him it had all ready been accepted but dropped. 6138594616 - Drivers name: Fad. This guy was absolutely amazing to say in the least. He arrived at my location in record time and even came in to ask for me to make sure I got my ride. The cab was immaculate on the inside and he was so sweet to me. I had a rough date and he did everything he could to cheer me up. He made sure to drop me off right at my door (whereas most cabs drop me off in the parking lot) because it was cold. He is THE BEST driver I've ever had and I highly recommend him to anyone looking for not only a quick ride home, but also for good conversation. read more

What a horrible cab company! Yes I know they fall under the Coventry umbrella, but they can not accommodate accessible needs. And they leave stranded sometimes for hours. Dispatch is very very good at lying or just rambling off the scripted 5-15 minutes. They also don't seem to know where the main doors are at the General Hosptial even when given an actual address. They seem to think that the main doors for the hospital is the Eye Institute or the main doors for the Physio Rehab Center. They leave people stranded, sometimes for hours with the same spiel about 5-15 minutes away if you call. Oh did I say that already? It's amazing that they can manage getting out of their driveways in the morning. read more

The Capital driver (plate #640?) took advantage of my teenage daughter's relative inexperience with taxis and debit last night. She knew something was up with the fare, but the guy was extra surly and in a unusual hurry to get her out of the cab. Nonetheless, she asked for and got a receipt. When we looked at the receipt, we realized that she had punched punched an 11 dollar tip, rather than the fare (8 bucks) plus a 3 dollar tip. What I want to know is, when the driver looked at the amount, why did he not doublecheck and ask her are you sure about the amount? Did he offer her change from his float? Nope... Did he even say thank you? Nope. For my daughter, it is a lesson learned about taxis and about how some people are just plain sleazy and will try to extract every penny they can from you. I am also telling my daughter to get the UBER app. Screw you Ottawa taxi cartel. read more

My family and I recently travelled to Ottawa for a family wedding. The venue was on the outskirts of town, at a yacht club. Knowing this, we booked a van with Capitol Taxi to take us to the event. That part went as planned! We also booked a Capitol van to come back for us after the event. The Dispatcher was NOT helpful at all. "I'm trying to get you a van" he would text. It's either booked... OR... it isn't! And if it isn't, tell me that, so I can make other arrangements. My family and I waited, in a remote location, in a strange city for 2hr 20mins before Capitol finally arrived. I will add... multiple other wedding guests were picked up by efficient and friendly UBERs while we waited. I've learned my lesson... NO MORE CAPITOL TAXIS, ever again!!! read more

My experience with this company was not a pleasant one. Being new to a province involves getting a new phone number when you get a new address. Phone numbers are, in fact, recycled so you never know what you're going to get! Upon calling this cab company from my new "unlisted" phone number I was told that I could not book a cab because the phone number I am calling from is "Blacklisted". It was very difficult to convince the person on the other end of the phone that this is a new phone number and I provided my address. Completely ignoring their privacy policy; they provided me with the address that was previously attached to my phone number. This company will 'blacklist' anyone who does not pay cab fare and attach it to the phone number they called from. There are no provisions in place to protect consumers who end up with these phone numbers. It would make more sense to attach the blacklist to the address, no? Once it was explained and the lady and the dispatcher on the other end of the phone seemed assured that whoever it was that did not pay the cab fare was not me; they finished the phonecall with a warning to myself that if it should happen again..... Needless to say; I did not proceed with booking their taxi. Westway was much more personable. read more

Just FYI - Ottawa does not have a lot of wheelchair accessible vans. But the few they do have are mostly in Capital and from my experience really nice. I was at the airport and had been told by another wheelchair user that there weren't many wheelchair cabs. The driver was very nice. He helped us with our suitcases. Pretty poor showing by Capital Taxi and Doug their dispatcher. I called for two cabs to the Canada Agriculture & Food Museum. Doug the Dispatcher said they'd be between 5 & 15 minutes. After I hung up, my spidey-sense started tingling and said I should call back to confirm two cabs were called. The first one arrived in about 10 minutes. I asked the cab driver to confirm if the second was on its way and he said he didn't know. I asked him to contact dispatch and he mumbled and gave me a sideways glance letting me know that wasn't his job. Afterwards, my sister and bro-in-law confirmed that he didn't want to do so but reluctantly called after she point blank asked him to. After waiting another 10 minutes, I called and spoke to Dispatch again. He confirmed that he had called for two but wasn't able to tell me where it was. Really? You can't contact the driver to confirm??? At any rate, he said it'd be no less than another 15 minutes. After waiting for a total of 35 minutes, I called Blue Line taxi and they sent a driver within 8 minutes of calling. Never again. read more

I have had the worst experience using Capital Taxi. The call centre has been relocated to the Philippines and they can never get my address right. I live on the French side in the national capital region. My first experience resulted in my having to cancel the taxi and call blue line instead because the operator could not correctly spell my address . The second time they sent the taxi to the wrong place, and then when I called to confirm my address I had to go through the entire experience of spelling my address letter for letter and they still couldn't get it right. As I write this review, I am still waiting for the taxi to arrive and it has been 24 minutes since my pick up time .... read more

Better than Blueline, still terrible. Yesterday we ordered a cab a half hour in advance for 4:30 p.m. At 4:40, it still wasn't there. Called. "It should be there within five minutes". Called again. "It should be no more than three minutes". At this point it would obviously BS so I demanded to speak to the dispatch who confirmed that the POS cabbie showed up early and picked up someone else without even confirming that it was us. There was no cab on the way. There was no cab on the way. He said he would send someone else who would be there within ten minutes. It is 4:50 by now. At 5:06, I call again. "He's almost there it won't be more than 2 minutes". At 5:15, I call again. "It won't be more than five minutes". And lo and behold, the guy finally shows up. The worst part about this is this same situation has happened to me on multiple occasions. These guys don't have any standards. They have the work ethic of a raccoon on probation who'd been hit by a car and buried by a snowplow. I work in a call centre, and every time I call these guys I can't wrap my mind around how poorly they do their job. They can't even read their "your cab will show up within five minutes" scripts properly without muttering and saying "um" every five seconds. Want a strong indicator of how terrible these people are? When you call them and finally reach an agent after waiting for ten minutes, you get a cheery pre-recorded "Thanks for calling capital taxi, how may I help you?". Who knows why they thought this would be a remotely good idea, because when you compare it to the actual person you're talking to after, you wish you were talking to the recording instead. Oh, and they don't want to give me any credit or reimbursement for showing up 45 minutes late. Next time I need a cab, I'm just going to order from every company in Ottawa and whoever shows up first gets my tip. They want to waste my time, I'll be more than happy to waste theirs. That or I'll start using Uber, which I'd previously sworn off due to them not having any insurance but now since Uber actually got an insurance policy with Intact for passengers there's nothing holding me back. read more

Worst service ever experienced. Booked a 6 seater at 9:38am with pick up of 15:30 to Ottawa airport. Received a prompt confirmation text but no taxi showed up, only to be told when I called after 15:30 that it is difficult for them to get a 6 seater. Very unhelpful operator who couldn't answer why they didn't tell me this when I booked, like Blue Taxi did, so that I could make alternative arrangements. I was lucky Uber were able to respond in 15 minutes and get me to the airport. No official apology from Capitaland they refused to send two taxis at same price. My experience with Capital Taxi was really disconcerting. I'm a teacher who was traveling with several students, thus I'm responsible for their safety. I called Capital Taxi to ask for four cabs to take my students to the train station. I have never been talked to so rudely in my life. First, I'm convinced the dispatcher hung up on me, and when I called back he said that they "don't send multiple taxis; that isn't how it works" and said flat out that he wouldn't serve me. I tried to reason with him, telling him that I simply needed reliable transportation for my students, which seemed to make him paranoid. He asked me if I was trying "to pull something on him" and said he thought I was a lawyer! He seemed deranged. Of course, the clock was ticking and we had to get to the train station. I called the Blue Line Taxi company and got great service. You should call them, too. read more

I will not be contacting Capital Taxi again after tonight. When my boyfriend and I arrived at our apartment building there was a Capital Taxi cab parked in his reserved and paid for parking spot, forcing him to park in another spot, which could result in a 50 dollar ticket. My boyfriend called the company expecting them to contact their driver (who was now where to be seen), to move the car but instead all they had to say was, "you should bring this somewhere else because we don't care". Very rude in a situation that could easily be defused, and now Capital Taxi has lost two potential customers. read more
