Second, this is a lovely trail for hiking a couple miles, but it's not covered by trees, so perhaps it's better for a cloudy day. Third, you'll get a view of sand dunes, wetlands, and a pond (if you're lucky, a heron will come into view). This is a delightful trail for a relaxing walk - and a haven for joggers, dog walkers, and photographers. I think the Gordons Pond Trail is one of the crown jewels in Cape Henlopen State Park.

This is a beautiful state park with so many choices of things to see and do. It has beautiful…read morebeaches and some allow dogs (on a leash at all times) which is a benefit during the summer months if you have a dog. There are lots of bike paths, hiking paths and a large camping area that looks very well kept. There is also lots of wildlife, both driving around in the park or in the ocean. I have heard that the traffic can be horrible sometimes but I tend to visit early in the morning or later in the evening. This is a beautiful place to visit and I would highly recommend, especially for sunrise and sunset.

It has a view of the marina and the Lightship. This lovely park also has a modern playground, lots of benches and my favorite today, a clean public toilet. Hooray for that. The little league baseball field was not in use but some folks were enjoying the tennis/pickleball courts and the basketball court. There is a kayak/canoe launch near the playground. It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

Walked the entire trail around the pond. Very busy trail with bikes and walkers! Some very old…read moregrowth pines. One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. This stuff will choke a tree to death over time! Great walk ... very pretty sights. Fall colors will make it a much nicer walk!

It has nice walking paths, lots of benches and picnic tables and a great play area for kids. It has lots of beautiful plants and trees and provides a very relaxing area for a walk or just to sit by the river and enjoy the view. I was here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and there were hardly any people here. There is not a ton of parking so if it were to get busy I am not sure if that would be a problem but worth a try. I would recommend a stop if you need a nice relaxing moment in your day.

A walking path follows the waterside and there is a big gazebo that can be reserved, The playground is in great condition and includes climbing frames, spinning things, swings and more. This was a nice place to go tent camping that in walking distance from the beach. I stayed at T13…read morewhich is near the marsh and we did not like the smell. We will definitely try a different location away from the marsh. They have bathhouses for campers only nearby and open at all hours. They did a good job trying to keep it clean. The campgrounds are clean. You have access to fishing . You are able to walk to the beach but we drive to the parking lot and the parking pass given by the campground covered the parking spot. The beach has lifeguards and there are two restaurants and shops. The beach has restrooms and bathhouses within free same center as the restaurants. They do not have BBQ grills. Bring your stove tops to cook and food that's doesn't required heating. They don't allow outside wood for any type of grills. You can find additional information on the website. The area is kid friendly and secure. They have a nice playground. I will try this location again.

Zwaanendael Park is separate from the museum that it hosts. The park has a lovely central fountain…read moresurrounded by benches. It was a nice spot to sit after walking over from the parking lot. The park also contains the Fisher Martin Herb Garden, a 17th century Colonial herb garden. t is planted with herbs that were used by Colonial housewives for culinary, medicinal and other uses, such as dyeing fabric and repelling bugs and offensive odors. There are also plants and herbs that were used by the Native Americans of the Cape Henlopen region. The garden was originally planted in 1984 by a group of Lewes residents and was maintained by the Sussex Master Gardeners. Because only one other person was there, we were able to easily get a place to park. I can imagine this being a very popular place to come and watch the sun disappear, particularly when the weather is warmer and you can enjoy the moment instead of try to stay warm. There's a gazebo where you can sit. There's also a small pier but I wasn't sure if that was part of the park or private property so we didn't investigate.

There is street parking or a lot parking available. I do recall one year due to the Marlin tournament. Parking was difficult and we did park a few blocks away. Overall the walk was not bad and it was well worth it. I recommend bringing chairs or a blanket. If you plan to stay a while. On Sundays, they have a live band, ice cream for purchase, a playground, pond, and lots of open grass for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone's favorite part is the Sunday fireworks show. The show is great! We will continue to add this park to our Sunday fun day while in Ocean City.
