Riverfront Park has undergone MASSIVE renovation over the past 10 years. The park which was formerly divided by the river canal, has most recently been connected by a lovely footbridge. A beautiful promenade, benches and landscaping have been added. People enjoy kayaking and canoeing down the river, playing on the handicap accessible playground equipment and the many events and concerts that are held here.

This is the closest park that I can bring my daughter to play at. The playground is big enough for her to run around in. Going across the bridge over Maurice River is beautiful but my only complaints are the litter on the floor and the graffiti on various places.

Waltman Park - Waltman Park -- pond at the side of Maurice River

Waltman Park

This is a very pretty park in Millville along the Maurice River. There are two playgrounds, one at…read moreeither entrance. Note that you cannot drive all the way through from one entrance to another, but each has its own parking lot. The park is not huge, like for hiking or biking, but it does allow for a short walk across the pond bridge, and across the river bridge to the park across the river (Captain Joseph Buck Park), where there is a paved trail along the river. The playground at the City Park Drive entrance is older and while it still works, there is only one small climbing structure and the swings, etc. are not as exciting as the other area at the Brandriff entrance. A Mister Softee ice cream truck visited at the Brandriff entrance while we were there, and a number of local kids were there playing. They were super friendly and sweet. Usually I love to rate any greenspace high stars, but my negatives here are really upsetting, and can't go ignored. There were dangerous people behaving oddly just across the river at the foot of the bridge. It appeared illegal deals or illegal substance use was going down right over the bridge. Needless to say, this is absolutely unacceptable around children, and the adults on the playground were wary and nervous as well. Who knows how dangerous that activity can get, but as soon as we saw why other parents were nervous, we immediately left. Absolutely disgusting in broad daylight, with children around, and where are the cops? On the way out, there was broken glass everywhere from someone breaking all the (formerly nice) lampposts, and it looked like they'd been shot at or punctured with a rock, so as to darken the area for nefarious night activity. Such a shame. They've put a lot of money and planning into these dual parks, and the locals really need it. Three stars for the civic efforts, and for those sweet kids and their terrified mothers, who are doing their best keeping safe there to play.

This park is a great place to go camping. Very shady and scenic with lots of trails. They have…read morerestrooms with plumbing and showers, so you can't go wrong there. New Jersey has lots of wonderful places to go camping; this is just one.

Review #2500! Don't…read moreget me wrong. I've stayed in my share of hotel suites and villas (thanks to my amazing work situation), but I'm also a fan of getting back to nature (veteran Burning Man survivor) and when I lived in the Sierra Nevada, off grid and dispersed camping was a joy. Now that I'm older and back in Jersey, we mix the best of both worlds by staying in more rustic accommodations in NJ, DE and PA state parks with friends. We want to rough it, but we also need a toilet when you're a middle aged lady of a certain age and also a bed off the floor - no more sleeping on the dirt for me these days. Parvin State Park was a pleasant surprise. It's on the edge of the Pine Barrens, and the small little lake in front of the cabins host a pair of white swans and lots of honking geese and ducks. We stayed in Cabin 12, which was very basic and in winter, the only heat source was an old-fashioned cast iron wood stove. We came prepared with tons of firewood and we loved it! Nothing like a roaring fire, a good book and Van Morrison growling a love song in the background. You can even get cell service! During winter, no running water and a porta potty was outside. The cabin had a working stove and a full sized fridge. $115 for 2 nights in regular cabin ($60 per night) / $80 per night for #6 or 16 Check in at 3 PM, out by noon Walmart is 10 minutes away in case you forget something important (ahem) Cheap firewood (but burns fast) at Tractor Supply Living room has 4 outlets Each bunk room has an outlet, wall hooks and light (though not very bright) Walls are not completely closed off in bunk rooms if privacy is a concern Map showing which cabins have wood stoves or fireplace inserts. https://www.nj.gov/dep/parksandforests/maps/parvin-cabinmap.pdf Cabins #6 and #16 are ADA, two bedrooms with bunk beds and a single bed each ($80 per night) Much more open living room During high season, these can only rent for a week at a time, Monday to Monday PRO TIPS: · Bring slip on shoes to go in and out to outdoor porta potty if winter - it was exactly 25 steps from the door to the porta potty (I counted) · Bring room heater if it's winter for added warmth · Bring small tub and your own water for washing dishes / non-potable water if it's winter since the kitchen sink is shut off · Bring fan if it's hot · Bring extra lamps because rooms are dark · If you are not bringing a camp chair, bring chair pads for hard wooden chairs provided.

Came here for the bi-annual "Camp Jam in the Pines" festival that just got moved to this camp…read moreground. This campground was certainly a downgrade from the old place. A haunted camp ground hell is what I had nicknamed it by the end of the 3 day trip. Camp Jam is a huge festival that draws hundreds of people every May and September for a three day weekend. The camp ground knew it was holding this festival. The camp sites were booked. Yet somehow, they failed to prepare for the crowds adequately. There are maybe 2 or 3 bathhouses scattered throughout the place, and on day one of the festival the women's restroom was closed. Seriously? You haven't even given us a chance to destroy it ourselves... you never had it working to begin with. So, with my boyfriend's assistance, I had to sneakily run into the men's room at an opportune time, and low and behold, every. single. toilet. (5 of them) looked FOUL and was definitely not in working order. The men's room would've been closed to had it not been for the urinals. What I saw cannot be unseen. I had a lack of appetite into the next day. How are you seriously not going to have working restrooms on the first day of a festival? Maybe a few days in, but not in the first few hours. If you need something from the supply store here? Oops, sorry, you're out of luck, it was closed for the entire weekend. This place looks like it hasn't been updated or even USED since the 1970s. The only thing I liked about this place was it's size. All the camp sites were huge and we has plenty of room to spread out. I didn't pick this camp ground by choice. If you, the innocent person reading this, have a choice, do not come here. I really cannot think of any reason that this camp ground should be chosen over any other available campground in the United States.
