Great place to walk. Benches are in great spots along the lake to enjoy the view and relax.

HAMMONTON: if you look at a map of NJ, you will notice a large section in South Jersey bathed in…read moregreen. That is Wharton State Forest, a gorgeous section of the Pine Barrens full of history, rumored to be where the Jersey Devil roams, and is a great spot to spend time in nature hiking 50 miles of trails, boating from launches on various rivers, bird and wildlife viewing, camping spots, and learning about NJ's past at the Batsto Village historic site. The land was used by the Lenape in prehistoric times and the village dates back to 1766! Batsto Village was an iron and glassmaking community and many of the buildings still stand today including the mansion, grist mill, saw mill, post office, housing, and over 30 buildings in total. There are walking paths to each building and if the door is open, you are welcome to go inside and take a look. Check out the peaceful views of Batsto Lake and the visitor center that features a museum and gift shop. We really enjoyed the Maple Sugaring Day event hosted by Wharton State Forest and Stockton University where they showed us how to turn sugar maple tree sap into syrup. There are sugar maple trees throughout the Batsto and Stockton properties that are tapped to collect sap in buckets and then boiled to make the delicious sweet maple syrup. We saw the tubing system used in a patch of trees to collect the sap and even had a sample; it tastes deliciously like lightly sweetened water. The syrup's end product was so fresh and delicious too. You can buy a bottle of maple syrup in the gift shop. Leashed dogs are allowed and we saw quite a few enjoying a walk amongst the picturesque and sprawling property. There is a small fee to enter the village from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day and free admission the rest of the year.

If you love history & nature, this is the perfect place, because this village started in 1766!! It's located in Hammonton, NJ in the Wharton State Forest with hiking trails, camping spots, open fields, & picnic benches for a nice forest bath. Take a journey to the past by exploring the Visitor's Center that has a museum & gift shop before venturing out around the historic village. You can sign up for guided mansion & walking tours for a fee, but we just walked around on our own for free. The gift shop also sells water & snacks, but there's also a food truck in the parking lot with hot dogs & Italian sandwiches for sale. This time of year is perfect because it was mosquito free with a nice crisp to the air that made walking around so enjoyable! They're also doing an antique, glass & bottle show on 5/19 with wagon rides available for a great family activity!

I gave this establishment 5 stars so you guys would possibly read this. All Star used to be a very…read moregood.place to board your pet.-however, as of 04 -2022, not so much. The services they attempt to provide are overpriced, everything besides the actual act of boardng is ala cart and , what you're buying may, IMIO not actually be worth what they charge $$$ Please uderstand, Im NOT out to decieve anyone and when I say MAYBE the quality hovers around 2 stars and, this is being kind. (Take this review any way you want, unlike some of the reviews regarding All Star, I don't work there. I'm just describing my own experience) Evidently, there's been some changes to management or staff or both and, not all change is good. Besides a recent boardatella scare /spread, an alleged attempt to cover it up failed outright. if that's not sufficient reason to go elsewhere to board the pet you love, to a lesser degree, some current employees are either not aware of their own company policy or worse, cannot seem to grasp or more accurately, comprehend what their own policy actually is. To conclude, save your money, time and most of all peace of mind - thankfully there is more than one place available that WILL truly care for your pet whilst not charging an exorbitant price to do so.

I just moved from Pennsylvania to New Jersey and boarded my dog for the first time at All Star Pet…read moreResort.I got him their top end room with what they advertise a upgraded bed. I got on his rooms Webcam and it was nothing more then 4 walls, a concrete floor and what the call an upgraded bed (4 small polls with a piece of canvas as the bed and a towel as a blanket) My dog is medium size and could barely fit on it. He had to curl into a ball to fit on it and was tossing and turning all night. The next morning I logged into his room's Webcame at 7 am. At 7: 30 they came in the room to feed him. At 10 am they came in and took him out for 4 minutes, not enough time to pee and poop then put him right back in the room. He then just laid by the door wanting out. I then called my son who was in town to pick him up. He got there at 10:45 and my dog was still in his room. I could see the 2 dogs on each side of him and they were still in their rooms also, not out playing together. When my son got their, there were only 2 dogs out in the play yard with 2 employees. The 2 employees had water bottles and were yelling at the dogs and spraying them with water. When he can home he was very quiet and not himself for 2 days. He has been going to dog daycare centers since he was a puppy every weekend and boarding once every other month. He has always loved it. I only hope this has not traumatized him from wanting to go to a different place.
