It has lots of beautiful plants and trees and provides a very relaxing area for a walk or just to sit by the river and enjoy the view. I was here on a beautiful Sunday afternoon and there were hardly any people here. There is not a ton of parking so if it were to get busy I am not sure if that would be a problem but worth a try. I would recommend a stop if you need a nice relaxing moment in your day.

It was an absolute joy. I would've recommend this to anyone. Even the trails that were rocky that go outback through the woods we did on a street bike no problem. They seem to be very well-maintained trails. At one point you had the super long bridge that goes over a swampy area, which is really cool too. On the way up on the trail, we saw a turtle crossing the trail on the way back. We saw but I assume is the same turtle taking a hole with his back legs. I don't know why I spent my whole life going to the Jersey shore. You drive an extra hour. You could come down here and have a super nice beach that's not packed and the super nice trails that you can bicycle too.

It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. Something about the sprocket was bent. Ugh! Instead, I sprayed some sunblock on my arms neck and face, put on a hat, and took a walk. The beach is stunning. Flat, warm, sunny and not overly crowded for a July weekend. While the beach is not step free, they're trying hard to make it as accessible as possible with mats and ramps that can support a wheelchair. That's awesome. I did see a bunch of offroaders. Apparently, you can get a permit to bring your 4WD onto the beach. Pretty darned awesome, that is! What are those huge concrete structures? They're WWII-era bunkers! Yes, these huge installations were built to counter the fear of German U-boats invading Philadelphia via the Delaware River. A series of tunnels connects the bunkers but those aren't open to visitors. I had a great visit and managed to not get any burn! [Review 18196 overall - 113 in Delaware - 1718 of 2022.]

There is street parking or a lot parking available. I do recall one year due to the Marlin tournament. Parking was difficult and we did park a few blocks away. Overall the walk was not bad and it was well worth it. I recommend bringing chairs or a blanket. If you plan to stay a while. On Sundays, they have a live band, ice cream for purchase, a playground, pond, and lots of open grass for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone's favorite part is the Sunday fireworks show. The show is great! We will continue to add this park to our Sunday fun day while in Ocean City.

Many people just sit and stare out over beautiful sunset lake on the 40 or more benches from one end of the park to the other. Kids frolic. Seniors meet w friends. Surrounding and adorning the park are many memorials that you should take the time to view. Monuments to veterans and in a little tiny Grassy area on New Jersey Ave. you'll see a tiny memorial to a local resident who was lost on the 9/11 tragedy at WTC. Over the years this has become a photo op for people who are leaving Wildwood crest after their summer vacations. Memories are made here

This is a hidden spot in Delaware and its so beautiful. You won't find many people here but you will find your perfect quiet place whether kayaking, biking, crabbing, hiking, or swimming ( public boat ramp). The observation tower is the best view of the Assawoman Bay and wildlife . You will see lots of bald eagles, river otters, giant woodpeckers , blue heron, egrets. SMH why all those cars are sitting in traffic to go to the beach when you can go to the bay ? It's completely free ...lots of fishing and crabbing , sailing , paddle boarding and don't forget to bring the dogs because they are allowed here!

Visited Kiwanis Park this week after beach time at Higbee. My son needed play time to run out some energy because he is still getting used to the beach and it's not his favorite right now, much to my dismay. Kiwanis made my toddler's day! He had a ball on the playstructure, swings, and just running around on the lawn. He loved watching the fountain in the pond, which I was happy to see still running in November. The posted rules say dogs aren't allowed, but various locals were walking their dogs all through this park. The park isn't huge, definitely no walking trail or means of real exercise, except for the basketball court, which is a half-court size. For leisure, picnicking, playground, etc. it is a great space, cuted up with the pond view. Private parking lot is down Leroy's way, the small lane at the entrance.
