It's a 10 min walk into the trail to get to the little beach area. It's so easy to get there and enjoy your day. Guides are personable and kayaks are in good shape. I would recommend to families and couples looking to have a nice time. I love that this is away from the beach traffic. We've tried the 9am and 1 pm tours and now just sunset for our trifecta.

    Fun on the water !!!

Awesome amazing & fun .... Great for beginners ... and most enjoyable for experience paddlers

First time kayaking and we loved it!! Staff is very helpful and supportive for newbies!! Lots to explore in marsh. Gorgeous sites and easy to navigate. We will be back again!!

We had a great sunset paddle with Bruce, who told us all about the bay, birds, crabs, and surrounding area. We actually visited the same beach earlier in the day, so it was fascinating to come back at high tide and realize everything we'd explored by wading was now under water. We would definitely take another paddle with this group!

Our guide Bruce walking our family down to the water. Lovely nature preserve!

First experience in a kayak. Took our family of 7 (kids ranging in age from 11 to 18) and everyone had a great time. The initial phone call was with Lisa to schedule. She answered all my questions and clearly loves what she does. Bring bottles of water, sunscreen and wear bathing suits. Our guide, Bruce, was great with the kids and adults alike. This guy knows his stuff and helped us identify lots of local wildlife. When one of our kids had trouble keeping up I got nervous. Bruce smiled and told me it was all good. He towed her kayak for a bit and she had a blast. When she became a bit more confident she started paddling herself and was smiling the whole time. She already asked if we can go again! This is THE place to try kayaking for the first time...when my daughter tumbled out of her kayak she stood up (realized it was only 3 feet deep) laughed and got right back in. Big confidence builder for the kids. My husband and I got to take a double kayak and it was great to have time 'alone' but with the kids at the same time. Plan to get in your car a little dirty. We loved it and will absolutely be back next year.

I was here again with my same family of five including two elementary school children. This time I rented two double kayaks for 1 hour at $30 each or $60 total. I also rented one single kayak for one hour or $20. Our total cost was $80 for two doubles and one single kayak in total. This time we traveled south in the bay since the current was moving North. That made it easier for us to kayak back to the kayak base. We returned within one hour. I also purchased a Coastal Kayak hoodie for $40. We agreed we will return here again.

I showed up on the day of my arrival and rented a 10" board with no problems. FYI - the 10" board fit in my compact-size SUV with the headrests removed, front seat down and fin removed. The rental included a paddle and the board also had a leash. I had my own Coast Guard approved lifejacket. I also booked the Burton Island's wildlife guided tour which was a 2-hour tour thru the salt marsh around Burton's Island. Bob (our guide) gave a quick "kayaking 101" before we started and off we went. We had 8 total in our group which was a perfect size for the tour. On the tour we observed ospreys, lots of different types of sea gulls, cormorants who use the bay as a runway before taking off into the blue sky, horseshoe crabs, teeny-tiny fiddler crabs no bigger than a quarter, and little turtles popping up to see what was going on as we were paddling thru the marsh. Bob is a great tour guide with lots of info about the area and wildlife. The meeting point for the tour is the Burton Island's trail head located on the north end of the Indian River Marina inside the Delaware Seashore State Park. For me, it was a short15 minute drive from where I was staying in Fenwick Island. Price wise - the tour and SUP rental were quite reasonable. I will definitely rent from Coastal Kayak the next time I'm in Fenwick Island.

And so I did! I invited my daughter and her BF as well. We made reservations for an eco tour at 4pm. It was to Last about 90 min or so. We found the spot. (Right behind Ron Jon surf Shop) we were fitted into the kayaks and here we go! I thought it would be hard or strenuous to paddle but that thinking was the exact opposite of the reality! It was smooth floating over the water in the bay! This kayak can float in like 5 inches of water!! We had the best tour guide! (Jacob) He showed us all the mussels that make up the Bay island grasses and the different birds and how to tell them apart. Small blue herons with the yellow feet and we Saw a nice size Osprey flying around hunting for food. We also found and learned about horseshoe crabs. I mean, I've seen those all my life in NC but never picked up a live one! It was like a tarantula under his helmet and I think Jacob (our guide) said they had 10 eyes!!! Wow!!! We saw everything right in front of our eyes. No binoculars needed. It's extremely relaxing. Extremely informative. Extremely beautiful. There were another 3 people that bunched with our group to kayak and a family of prob 4. I think paddleboarding that also bunched with our group as well. Everyone was very respectful and very interested in everything Jacob spoke about. We didn't take our phones on the boats. We didn't know what to expect and actually we were a bit wet. Next time I'll bring mine and put in a sandwich bag or something. Also *** please tip your guide.*** It's the right thing to do. Please come to this specific location and do your kayaking and paddleboarding. It's super awesome!

Both Steve and Suzie are excellent, friendly and accommodating hosts and really know their way around this waterway. You embark from right behind their property with quality equipment and a really informative briefing on paddling techniques and boat launching. They use a special boat launch device where you can step off a dock directly into the boat without having to enter the actual water...nice to stay dry! The paddle itself took us along this intercoastal (brackish water) waterway where we saw some really interesting wildlife including many bird varieties and even some muskrats (we may have interrupted them making baby muskrats...sorry Mr. & Mrs.!!!). Coolest part of the wildlife tour was seeing two separate bald eagle nests, both with eaglets inside! Those nests are soooo huge, like 300 pounds and several feet wide! After returning from the 2 hour-ish paddle, Steve and Suzie fired up their firepit to offer us both warmth and a place to have a cookout! We brought along drinks, hot dogs and all the fixings for s'mores and shared them around the group. It was fun getting to know folks a bit better and again the owners were the perfect hosts for the entire adventure. I cannot recommend Ayers Creek Adventures more highly...give them a try for a really fun and unique experience while in the area!

Honestly; you'll need the hour just to acclimate to maneuvering the board. The place also offers glow in the dark paddle boarding! Looks cool but I'd be weary of any sea creatures in the bay at night. I've been watching way too much shark week/fest on Nat Geo lately lol. Only downfall in my opinion is that not all the instructors are made equal. Saw an older man & younger guy teach a couple groups before us and both were very thorough with their paddle board tutorials. The people on the dock gave us a very brief overview of the boat and gave us a map to use on the bay. We headed out and within a few minutes of leaving the marina, we noticed something wasn't quite right with the engine. It was making a sound that reminded us of metal clinking together. As we continued on, the motor stalled out and would not start again which brought on some serious panic. We called the number that we used to book the reservation and the woman on the line stated that she didn't handle this sort of thing, which was not helpful in our current situation. We finally realized that the person on the dock wrote his phone number on the back of our map. We called it several times with no answer. This brought on more concern as we were stuck in the channel and had no way to get back to the dock. We finally received a call back 30 minutes later after waving other boats down for assistance. All in all we got back to the dock to switch out boats but the scary part of all of this is the fact that in a true emergency, no one is available and things could have been much worse. This company needs another hotline besides scheduling if any renters need support or assistance.
