We paddled with Ayers Creek Adventures on a recent weekend for their once-monthly (season permitting) full moon kayak tour. Both Steve and Suzie are excellent, friendly and accommodating hosts and really know their way around this waterway. You embark from right behind their property with quality equipment and a really informative briefing on paddling techniques and boat launching. They use a special boat launch device where you can step off a dock directly into the boat without having to enter the actual water...nice to stay dry! The paddle itself took us along this intercoastal (brackish water) waterway where we saw some really interesting wildlife including many bird varieties and even some muskrats (we may have interrupted them making baby muskrats...sorry Mr. & Mrs.!!!). Coolest part of the wildlife tour was seeing two separate bald eagle nests, both with eaglets inside! Those nests are soooo huge, like 300 pounds and several feet wide! After returning from the 2 hour-ish paddle, Steve and Suzie fired up their firepit to offer us both warmth and a place to have a cookout! We brought along drinks, hot dogs and all the fixings for s'mores and shared them around the group. It was fun getting to know folks a bit better and again the owners were the perfect hosts for the entire adventure. I cannot recommend Ayers Creek Adventures more highly...give them a try for a really fun and unique experience while in the area! read more

Tucked away in Berlin just minutes over the Rt 50 bridge, it's worth the drive over. Rebecca (I hope I spelled that correctly) was our tour guide and was great. My daughters, ages 8 and 5, got to experience their first time on a canoe. Rebecca was very patient with us and while we only saw a few species of birds and a few jumping fish, she told us a lot about the history and area. He was laid back but gave you confidence on the water. We learned quite a bit about the wildlife and the preserves. We definitely plan to do this again! Their equipment is top notch, and they also offer regular tours if you don't want to go out alone. Head out to the left from the launch and you can have a leisurely hour-long paddle in a quiet backwater -- look for both blue and green herons and great egrets. Head out to the right for a more challenging trip, and paddle as long as you like in the open marsh's tidal waters. My group and I had an amazing time on the creek with Susie! The tour leaves from the beautiful property she and Steve own and have established their business on. Boats, paddles, and life jackets were ready, and they were able to accommodate a last minute change of kayak on the spot with no problem. Susie provided user-friendly paddling instructions all ages could follow. Through the tour, Susie provided touches of ecological info pertinent to the area, but in a friendly, interesting way. She also checked in with each boat in our group and provided encouragement as needed. She was really good with my kids and shared more even info about the birds and wildlife we saw with my child who has a great interest in animals. The creek itself is gorgeous and relatively easy to paddle. The 1.5 hour tour was just right. This was a great way to explore the area. I hope to come back next summer and kayak again! read more

We had the best time with Suzy on our guided salt marsh tour! There was a group of 8 of us, all with different paddle abilities. She made the trip very easy and comfortable for everyone. During our tour, she was a fountain of knowledge about the wildlife and the environment. We saw a bald eagle and nest, cormorant, egrets, ducks, gulls, you name it! I wish we could have floated around and paddled all day. I say floated because my shoulders can only paddle so much! It was a relaxing, peaceful, educational trip with an arm workout thrown in. I called this morning after randomly finding a review talking about them. Last minute decision to kayak for the first time...And to throw a loop in...I brought my pup. I heard a "closed for the season greeting" and left a message with slim hope of getting a same day call back. Literally 10 minutes later my phone rings and I'm setting up a time to go. The property is just stunning...The owner couldn't be more friendly and I loved sweet magnum. The experience was so beautiful on a cloudless, gorgeous morning during my birthday week. We called and left a message, shortly after we received a call back. We discussed the different tours available since we are only in town for a couple of days. We booked a kayak tour for the two of us. We arrived and Suzy was our guide for the afternoon trip. She went over the basics reminders of padding with my wife. We went out and Suzy was very informative and helpful telling us about the Forested Wetlands Exploration she was taking us on. The entire trip telling us about the area, and the wildlife. It was a windy day but we had a fantastic time and absolutely will go again when in the area. We highly recommend them and they are a must go if you are interested in a relaxing kayak tour! They do from small groups and larger groups up to 40 or so people on a trip if you have a large group of friends, family to go with. Call them to ask the full details! Location is absolutely beautiful. We had an hour rental, but I would definitely recommend a longer rental to be able to explore all the coves and hidden spots along the creek. There were so many beautiful birds to see along the way. Truly stunning. Staff was very friendly and launched our group of 8 (+2 dogs) very quickly. I have kayaked at several locations between OC and Chincoteaugue, this was by far my favorite. Can't wait to visit again on my next trip. read more

Had a great outing at Ayers Creek Adventures. Only regret was not staying out there longer. They have Wilderness series kayaks which are very stable with wide open cockpits so you will not feel confined. The boats are great for the seasoned as well as novice paddler. Suzy the owner was more than accommodating and very nice as well. She provided us with everything we needed for our adventure. If back in the area again I would definitely rent from them again as they are a first class operation with great boats and customer service... also a very cool chocolate lab. read more

Ayers Creek Adventures is by far the best place to kayak or paddle board in the Ocean City area! The water is calm and the views are breathtaking! I went SUP boarding for the first time there last week and Suzy, the owner, gave me tips to make my first time fun and successful! The next day I went with friends and we all had a great time with the paddle boards. We all felt the boards were nice and steady. Suzy and her staff are friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful! Ayers Creek Adventures is - probably - the best place to kayak near Ocean City. I say probably because they are the only tour group there I've been on but they blew away my expectations. I've kayaked a bit around the area; mostly in the bay and the St. Martin's river. What you will see there is mostly the backyards of houses and lots of boat traffic. Ayers creek, on the other-hand, is absolutely gorgeous. We went on the sunset kayak tour with our guide (and owner) Steven. He has a background working for the EPA and lives on the property itself, so he is extremely knowledgeable about the area. On our trip we saw a variety of wildlife including bald eagles, great blue herons, osprey, ducks, and muskrat. Ayers creek is fair-sized, meandering creek through isolated marshland. Beyond the marsh grass and tree lines there is not much besides farmland. On our paddle we didn't see any other people or boats. We had the creek to ourselves, and the quiet and natural surroundings made it really special as we watched the sun set to the sound of cicadas and crickets. Our 3-mile, 2 1/2 hour paddle was very relaxing and could be done by people of any skill level. If you are looking to kayak or canoe near OC, I cannot recommend Ayers Creek Adventures enough. read more

We decided to go out on an kayaking adventure while visiting Ocean City. This was a very different experience from the touristy places that you'll find closer to the bay & OC.
