As you can see from my prior review in August 2023 I love this place. I love to kayak with my…read morefamily. I was here again with my same family of five including two elementary school children. This time I rented two double kayaks for 1 hour at $30 each or $60 total. I also rented one single kayak for one hour or $20. Our total cost was $80 for two doubles and one single kayak in total. This time we traveled south in the bay since the current was moving North. That made it easier for us to kayak back to the kayak base. We returned within one hour. I also purchased a Coastal Kayak hoodie for $40. We agreed we will return here again.

Nothing but good things to say about Mitch and the team at Coastal Kayak! I called two days ahead…read moreof my arrival to find out if I needed a reservation to rent a paddleboard for the weekend and was informed that there was no need. I showed up on the day of my arrival and rented a 10" board with no problems. FYI - the 10" board fit in my compact-size SUV with the headrests removed, front seat down and fin removed. The rental included a paddle and the board also had a leash. I had my own Coast Guard approved lifejacket. I also booked the Burton Island's wildlife guided tour which was a 2-hour tour thru the salt marsh around Burton's Island. Bob (our guide) gave a quick "kayaking 101" before we started and off we went. We had 8 total in our group which was a perfect size for the tour. On the tour we observed ospreys, lots of different types of sea gulls, cormorants who use the bay as a runway before taking off into the blue sky, horseshoe crabs, teeny-tiny fiddler crabs no bigger than a quarter, and little turtles popping up to see what was going on as we were paddling thru the marsh. Bob is a great tour guide with lots of info about the area and wildlife. The meeting point for the tour is the Burton Island's trail head located on the north end of the Indian River Marina inside the Delaware Seashore State Park. For me, it was a short15 minute drive from where I was staying in Fenwick Island. Price wise - the tour and SUP rental were quite reasonable. I will definitely rent from Coastal Kayak the next time I'm in Fenwick Island.

Really easy! I called 30 minutes before to check if they were busy. I was advised to come earlier…read morerather than later, since the winds were forecasted to pick up in the afternoon. They also described where to park when we got there. The guys were super friendly and got us all set up very quickly. I rented a stand up paddle board, and my husband rented a kayak. We were able to leave our things with them while we went out on the water. The water itself was really peaceful and relaxing. My standup paddle board rental only cost $20 for the hour, which I thought was totally reasonable. FYI, if you need to change, you can use the bathroom in the Princess Bayside. It wasn't the nicest of bathrooms, but at least it was something.

First time paddle boarding for both my better half & I. Def a fun experience. Bit of a workout too…read morewhich I'm always down for. I could tell my hip stabilizers & quads had been utilized (from all the balancing) later in the day haha. Reasonable pricing for an hour. For 2 ppl came to like $43. Be prepared to go for an hour cuz they don't have shorter time increments. Or just buy an hr and come back to shore when you're over it. Honestly; you'll need the hour just to acclimate to maneuvering the board. The place also offers glow in the dark paddle boarding! Looks cool but I'd be weary of any sea creatures in the bay at night. I've been watching way too much shark week/fest on Nat Geo lately lol. Only downfall in my opinion is that not all the instructors are made equal. Saw an older man & younger guy teach a couple groups before us and both were very thorough with their paddle board tutorials. This girl that I thought was just another paid customer approached us out of nowhere like "you ready?!"... oh ok no intro. She was quick with her instructions and def got us into the water fast. Seemed like she was ready to clock TF out for the day before she even started. I had fun for my 1st paddle board experience. I didn't fall. Success!I just would've been even better without this girl instructor's negative vibe. Issa whole mood that I wasn't feelin' at all. But she

And so I did! I invited my daughter and her BF as well. We made reservations for an eco tour at 4pm. It was to Last about 90 min or so. We found the spot. (Right behind Ron Jon surf Shop) we were fitted into the kayaks and here we go! I thought it would be hard or strenuous to paddle but that thinking was the exact opposite of the reality! It was smooth floating over the water in the bay! This kayak can float in like 5 inches of water!! We had the best tour guide! (Jacob) He showed us all the mussels that make up the Bay island grasses and the different birds and how to tell them apart. Small blue herons with the yellow feet and we Saw a nice size Osprey flying around hunting for food. We also found and learned about horseshoe crabs. I mean, I've seen those all my life in NC but never picked up a live one! It was like a tarantula under his helmet and I think Jacob (our guide) said they had 10 eyes!!! Wow!!! We saw everything right in front of our eyes. No binoculars needed. It's extremely relaxing. Extremely informative. Extremely beautiful. There were another 3 people that bunched with our group to kayak and a family of prob 4. I think paddleboarding that also bunched with our group as well. Everyone was very respectful and very interested in everything Jacob spoke about. We didn't take our phones on the boats. We didn't know what to expect and actually we were a bit wet. Next time I'll bring mine and put in a sandwich bag or something. Also *** please tip your guide.*** It's the right thing to do. Please come to this specific location and do your kayaking and paddleboarding. It's super awesome!

Both Steve and Suzie are excellent, friendly and accommodating hosts and really know their way around this waterway. You embark from right behind their property with quality equipment and a really informative briefing on paddling techniques and boat launching. They use a special boat launch device where you can step off a dock directly into the boat without having to enter the actual water...nice to stay dry! The paddle itself took us along this intercoastal (brackish water) waterway where we saw some really interesting wildlife including many bird varieties and even some muskrats (we may have interrupted them making baby muskrats...sorry Mr. & Mrs.!!!). Coolest part of the wildlife tour was seeing two separate bald eagle nests, both with eaglets inside! Those nests are soooo huge, like 300 pounds and several feet wide! After returning from the 2 hour-ish paddle, Steve and Suzie fired up their firepit to offer us both warmth and a place to have a cookout! We brought along drinks, hot dogs and all the fixings for s'mores and shared them around the group. It was fun getting to know folks a bit better and again the owners were the perfect hosts for the entire adventure. I cannot recommend Ayers Creek Adventures more highly...give them a try for a really fun and unique experience while in the area!

It included a group on land, instruction followed by further instruction in the water, In turn, I was able to observe Beth in action as well(for us visual learners). My friend bought a board at their retail store, just minutes away, where they have a great selection and well informed sales people. They have every accessory including board leashes, inflatable life jackets, floating eyeglass leashes(mine went overboard). It's a small family owned business and the sixteen yr. old son was as helpful as he was charming. What a blast! The Blue Planet paddle board is beautiful and its the perfect board choice for me, thanks to the knowledge and patience of the Walk On Water team. Beth gave phenomenal instruction and Ron helped me during the demo, before buying board. $20.00. Included group instruction and 1 1/2 hours of board time.

1 Star - Absolutely Awful Experience…read more Island Water Sports gave us one of the worst customer service experiences we've ever had. As we were pulling into the dock -- after being stuck in torrential downpours all day because they refused to offer a rain check unless there was thunder -- a staff member started shouting at us, "I hope you have insurance! You've damaged my ladder!" The swim ladder had accidentally been left down, but it was already damaged when we took the boat out. Even after staff inside the office confirmed the damage had been noted earlier, the dockhand, Mike, continued to accuse us and treated us like we had done something wrong. They made us stay in the boat while they took pictures and called it in to the office, repeatedly telling us we were going to have to pay for it. When we were finally allowed off, some of our group went to use the bathroom and were stopped on their way back by another employee, who told them they "weren't allowed to leave." It felt like we were being detained -- over a broken ladder we didn't even damage. At one point I told Mike how rude and unprofessional he was -- and no, I wasn't calm about it. I had every right to speak up after the way we were being treated. Instead of diffusing the situation, he came back at me, even more defensive and condescending. It wasn't until after they embarrassed us and treated us like criminals in front of other guests that we finally got a weak apology. Then, as if that wasn't enough, they actually complained that there was mud on the floorboard from the anchor -- because it had touched the wet deck. First of all, don't they wash the boats down anyway? And second, it was pouring rain all day -- what exactly did they expect? We didn't even complain about the miserable weather -- we paid in full and left without so much as a "Sorry the weather didn't cooperate" or "Hope you still had a good time." Just attitude and accusations. We've rented from other marinas in the area and always had a great experience. Island Water Sports was by far the worst -- rude, accusatory, and completely lacking in basic customer service. I would never rent from them again and absolutely do not recommend them to anyone!

Staff was friendly and courteous when we arrived, and the boat was in tip-top shape. The one-star knock is because they did not have a restroom available for us before our trip, which meant we had to leave the premises for a Royal Farms, then return. Granted we didn't lose a lot of time, but a restroom for clients, even if it's a porta potty, I feel is a necessity.
