Did this a couple years ago and it was a full throttle experience. I don't know if it's the cost of fuel, but they barely opened the throttles and just did a bunch of hard turns to get everybody wet. We never went fast or saw any dolphins. Lame. read more

We had so much fun! The captain was transparent and told us all before leaving the dock that seeing dolphins was hit or miss this year but we got to see an entire pod! well we were under the impression that this sea rocket boat was going to be a fast and exciting ride. Wrong, not fast. its a big elephant of a boat. better rides on parasail boat. Warning, imagine someone standing over you pouring 5 gal buckets of water on top of your head. over and over. we could go nowhere else but home after, drowned rats, warning, wear bathing suits only, and plastic or croc shoes. They really should tell you this at the ticket booth, we saw one ruined phone, lost glasses, and lost hats. i was holding onto my prescrip glasses the whole time. its not rough, just soaking wet and wind. $20 is ok for the ride up the coast, but dont expect speed thrills. and either wear suits or have extra clothes in your car. wrap your wallet in plastic and leave your phones at home. Absolute worst speed boat tour I've even been on. Very slow for a speedboat, no commentary, speaking or music. Complete silence the entire time. They just go up and down the beach line 1 time. Very lame and a waste of $29. Don't recommend. read more

Our family has been on the OC Rocket multiple times over the years. We absolutely put this as one of our top items each vacation. The boat is an eye catcher, always clean, crew is professional and helpful. My favorite part is leaving the bay, turning the corner and hearing the engines ROAR as the boat gets up to speed. It's a great ride for people of all ages. The captain stops if he see's dolphins and spins the boat around so everyone can see. Caution: you WILL get wet! On the hottest day of our vacation we decided to look for activities that were not directly on the beach to get away from the heat, so we decided to take a trip down to the marina. To board it's first come first serve so just get there and get your tickets. The crew at the ticket desk and on the boat were outstanding. So was the parking lot attendant on Talbot St. All were very helpful and answered all kinds of questions. The boat itself is great, the crew were taking extra precautions due to Covid including sanitizing between rides. Applause to them. The ride itself is a typical up there coast with an occasional wildlife spotting including dolphins. But it was great, wind in your hair sea air blowing by, with the occasional fun jolt here and there from a wave. This is definitely not recommended for infants, or people with neck/back injuries or previous injuries. They'll tell you before you get on and when you board you get a final warning. Overall, 10/10 for the experience. If you're looking for something to do with the kids or family to stay busy, I would highly recommend. read more

One of the best attractions in Ocean City. I've been three consecutive years and every time, the OC Rocket is my favorite thing I've done. I recommend it to everyone. Where do I start? The staff is very chill, and helpful. The captain of the boat is awesome! He's driven every ride I've done, and every time he's extremely charismatic and funny. He issues proper warnings beforehand (he even says if you're worried about being splashed that you can get a full refund), and makes every ride exciting and unique. He also makes sure that the dolphins or other sea creatures are visible and takes care not to disturb them, which is great to see. Yes, you will get splashed, but I honestly love it because you get to feel the wind and everything too. Also enjoy feeling like I'm a Miami Vice cast member, LOL. This was my second time on the OC Rocket. This time was much better the caption was really good. We saw plenty of dolphins my kids loved it!

First is they don't tell you that you are probably going to get soaking wet with saltwater until you are already on the boat. Each bench seat holds four people and those two sitting at the outside positions of each seat got soaked the most. If you are sitting at the very front of the boat you won't get wet. They hugged the coastline going out so those on the left side of the boat got the best view. Thought they would do the same on the return trip but instead they went far out away from the coastline and the pilot zig-zagged to cause the water to spray into the boat. We were on the right side so didn't get the nice view of the coastline as those on the leftside. But the boat went plenty fast and it was fun. Luckily there were only us two on the bench seat so were able to slide to the middle of the boat when the water started spraying in and pretty much avoided the saltwater. The couple in front of us were not so lucky as they were trapped in the two outside seating positions, they got soaked with saltwater and didn't look to happy about it. Just wondering how many people had say dinner plans right after the boat ride but now had to go back to their hotels to shower and wash the sticky saltwater off. They should make people aware of this before they sell them a ticket. If I would have gotten soaked with saltwater as most of the others on the boat did, this would have been a one star review. read more

The OC Rocket was AH-Mazing! First time going on any real boat ride with the kids and this did not disappoint. The biggest issue was which boat trip to pick (buccaneer, adventurer or rocket). The ride on the boat alone was worth the price. Speeding down the coast line, yessss!!! But we were lucky enough to see dolphins jumping, probably 8 times or so. After, the capt sped and got us wet which felt great in the heat. It is very conveniently located, just make sure to give yourself enough time to find parking and get in line. 30 mins ahead minimum. Also bring cash, they take a nice pic before getting on and for a tip at the end. Will def do again read more

The OC Rocket is an awesome boat ride. You have got to try it when you are in Ocean City, MD. The crew on the rocket is very friendly. We saw a school of dolphins on our ride and the captain slowed down so that everyone could see them. The dolphins were even jumping our wake. Towards the end of our ride the captain zigzagged the boat so people would get wet which everyone enjoyed. read more

The guy who was driving the boat today completely cut us off when he had the whole inlet behind us, and mind you I have children on my boat, we have 25+ years experience boating with no incidents, we had to back up 3 times so he wouldn't hit us so we yelled at him to share the ocean and he said I don't have to share the ocean, I own it and I do what I want playboy. Real professional....and real unsafe. Called the manager left them know, as well as the police and the Natural Resources Police. We went this morning for the 10am ride with Tommy and John Boy as our crew. Tommy was fantastic! We got out on the open water and he slowed down around 50th street to point out a pod of dolphins that commonly swim along the shoreline. He angled the boat so everyone got a great view of the dolphins and even the massive school of fish they were chasing. He told us about one particular dolphin that he's seen annually there which definitely shows he's passionate about what he does. He even managed to get a few of the dolphins to play in the waves behind the boat! I've previously been on this boat years ago, and saw the dolphins but they pointed them out as we raced by. This is my daughter's first time at the ocean (she's 8) so getting to experience this with her is nothing short of magical. Once we moved on from the dolphins, he made sure we didn't leave the boat dry lol. I don't know how he did it but they managed to get the waves to splash us thoroughly which is what I had expected from the beginning. I will tell every single person I know that's planning a trip to OCMD to make sure to include this in their plans. read more

Great for families. We were able to see many dolphins! The captain has been there for many years as we recognize him each year that we go....and he is friendly & funny. He also takes his boat out for a spin at the end of your ride to get you wet. The boat doesnt go fast enough to jump as much as youd expect but overall I think this experience is fun for families. They take your picture before the ride and you can buy them afterwards which is a nice memorabilia. I would recommend the seats by the edge of the boat (not inside seats) for the best views, some splashes along the way, and for the most fun. My oldest son was moving to TN upon our return from our annual Beach Vacation and one of his requests was to go out on the OC Rocket with his girlfriend. I got discounted tickets on Landmarks so it only ended up costing us the price of 1 ticket for 2 people which was an awesome deal. Previously we have checked out the Sea Rocket but the OC Rocket was overall a much better experience. From start to finish the trip was nearly an hour long and while we didn't get to see any dolphins our entire family loved getting wet near the end of our trip and the captain's "announcements" were quite entertaining. I only wish we had known to bring cash for the photo they take when you board the ship and also to tip the staff with but lucky for us there is an ATM located in the office just off the dock. We will definitely be doing this again next August, hopefully getting to see some dolphins next trip. read more

Called to make a reservation and they said it is first come first serve, but 35 spots left on the boat and that they haven't been sold out all day. Got there an hour later and an hour early and they were sold out! This was after driving the entire OC strip and paying for parking. I was not able to even get on the boat. I took my four teen girls and seven year old on this ride. As some reviews stated, this is definitely not a "rocket". It is a slow(ish) ride up the coastline. An ok ride if that is what you're expecting, but fairly boring for our group. I felt myself literally dozing off about 20 minutes in. For the price, there are much more entertaining activities to have. We will not be riding again. read more

When asked about this boat ride we were told they played music and it was fast and be prepared to get wet and we would see dolphins I been on one in Virginia Beach called the Rudee Rocket and loved it. So my husband and I thought we would love this boat ride as well. We bought tickets to the last boat ride out that day. We were both very disappointed!!! No music we didn't stop and see any dolphins and they didn't go that fast because they let some young mother who thought it be a good idea on the boat with two children who was like 8 months and 1 year old. Why they don't have a age limit is CRAZY. They never said anything during the whole ride until the end when they told you they worked for tips and said you should tip 20 percent. And the photo they took when you got on the boat was for sale. Well need less to say they got no tip from me. We didn't get anything we were told we were going to get. I can understand they can't guarantee seeing dolphins but they didn't even stop to look. We weren't the only ones disappointed. I wouldn't recommend this boat ride to anyone. And for the safety of very young children who parents have no brains put a age limit on your boat ride. read more

A little bit of false advertising as the boat does not go at "rocket" speeds as the name suggests. It is a nice leisurely ride, but don't expect adventure. I have no idea why you would have a bright yellow 800 horsepower boat and name it the OC Rocket if all you do is 30 knots down the shore and back. We would have been upset had it cost any more than the $18 we paid per ticket. If you are just looking for a slow cruise, it is a good time. If you are looking for a ride in a speed boat and an adventurous time, look elsewhere. Also the speech over the loudspeakers imploring you to tip them and how much you should give is extremely crass. read more

A couple of years ago, my husband and I went on the OC Rocket and had a great time. It was fast and exciting as we skipped across the waves. Last week, I was at the beach with 4 friends and we decided to take the Rocket based on my past experience. What a disappointment! It has become a dolphin siting cruise.
