We booked a 1-hour ride to Assateague Island and back to see the ponies, and it did not disappoint! Bryce was our tour guide, and he was fun, funny, friendly, and knowledgeable. The ride was super relaxing and enjoyable, and I never felt worried or scared. I would highly recommend this tour, and I'd also recommend booking the earlier one (we did 11:30), because the 12:30 tour had a huge line. Will do this again for sure. read more

We had a family of 10 ages ranging from 5 to 70 and took the ice cream and Assateague pony cruise. It was a great choice for our group because we couldn't do much more than an hour or two anyway. We booked a private tour from Ocean Coty to Assateague to see dolphins, the horses, and wildlife. Despite poor visibility thanks to Canadian wildfire smoke in the air we saw a lot of dolphin activity including a white dolphin and took lots of pictures and video. We saw the Assateague horses up close and then visited egrets, herons, osprey, and other wildlife. Matt was our captain and he was very knowledgeable and informative. His low key approach was wonderful as well. Highly recommend both the company and especially Matt. We hope to book him for fishing in a future visit as he is an expert angler as well. read more

Kathy is a retired school principal from Salisbury MD and she had a wealth of knowledge of the bay, wildlife, and interesting fact about the Ocean City area. I will be back again. Man, it pains me to only give them 3 stars, but I honestly have to say our cruise today was a total meh. We saw a few horses behind some brush. That was cool. We had fun in the waves and sea splashes. The captain was friendly and informative. But he totally lost me when instead of looking for more horses, animals, or general sightseeing, he took us on a tour of two canals and the various types of boats each had. Felt like a plug for some local restaurants. I'd have much rather even just got out on a sandbar or something. Just all in all a bit odd. read more

They have signs asking for reviews, so here's mine. We did a Friday night tour with Carter. He took us north up Assawoman Bay to Delaware and back. Amazing sunsets, and the pontoon made for a very smooth ride. Only got splashed a couple of times. Carter wasn't the usual Friday night guy, but he tried his best. Told us stories about the houses and islands/wildlife we were seeing. Random tip - if you're waiting for the boat to leave, you can play some cornhole outside their office. read more

Excellent. Booked a Sunset Cruise - we had so much fun last year on this cruise, that we booked again this year. And booked a fireworks cruise this year too. Both were fun and relaxing. Captain Dave is engaging and chill at the same time, an informative nature and local history buff, great with kids, and makes sure that everyone has a wonderful time. Our experience with captain Patrick was beyond expectations!! He was so knowledgeable and kind. We saw wild horses so close up - just an amazing experience. The boat was super clean, he took photos of our group with his own phone without us even asking, and air dropped them to us at the end. Our family went on the Assateague Island Cruise out of Ocean Pines Yacht Club at 9 AM. Captain Dennis was very knowledgeable and informative of businesses, homes, and other interesting facts and landmarks and engaged us in great conversation. As we cruised weather unfortunately went from overcast to dark clouds, wind, rain, thunder and lightening. Captain Dennis calmly told us he would pull into the Ocean City Hopper dock at Ocean City so we could safely exit the boat and find shelter together. We were able to wait out the storm together at One Love Smoothie Cafe while drying off over delicious smoothies, coffee and "the best grilled cheese sandwich" my daughter and Granddaughter said they'd ever had! We all boarded the boat again and cruised to the shores of Assateague Island for some great family photos with the horses/ponies in the background! I highly recommend them and we were confident in Captain Dennis and enjoyed it despite the Thunderstorm forcing us to depart for about a half at the dock until the weather cleared so we could board the ship safely again and resume our cruise! read more

We signed up for this tour with the promise of a knowledgable captain at the helm, talking about and SHOWING us the natural wonders of the area. Instead, we got a two hour boat trip with only a far distant view of a couple of ponies on the beach, but little commentary on the history, etc. of the place. Sadly, there was a boat in close proximity, which was not ours, since we were high tailing it home. Luckily for us, we passed an Osprey nest with 3 chicks, at least something for an almost 3 hour trip. While he was affable, our captain admitted that he had only been on the job for a year; clearly his lack of experience in the area was on thin display. Oh, and, while the top number of folks on the boat was supposed to be 10, there were no fewer than 14 on our boat. I wouldn't do this trip again for any amount of money, given how expensive this was for 6 folks and how meager the substance proved to be. You'll be taking your chances, either great or meh. read more

We had an awesome happy hour tour with Captain Steve. Saw osprey, wild horses at Assateague, and the weather was perfect. Five minutes from the end of the tour, we came across a distressing situation. A young man was under the influence os something and attempting to hurt himself. Captain Steve immediately pulled over and helped. Together with my husband, myself, Captain Steve, and some concerned neighbors, friends, and family, we worked as a team and were able to get the young man onto the boat and then the dock where emergency workers took over. Captain Steve and the entire team saved that young mans life and prevented anyone else from being injured during the rescue mission. It was inspiring to see a group of strangers work together so well. We will certainly never forget that trip! read more

We took our grandson on the Bay Hopper Crabbing experience. It was wonderful! Captain Dave was extremely knowledgeable in boating and crabbing. It was very hands on if you wanted it to be, or you could just sit back and observe. Our grandson had a blast netting the crabs and learning about their habits and behavior. We caught a few dozen crabs both on the trot line and in the pots. This was both an entertain and education experience. Crabbing is a very "Maryland" thing to try and not to mention an eastern shore delicacy. read more

Hopper and went on line to take a look. Man am I happy I did. My wife, daughter, son and his girlfriend, and granddaughter met the crew at around six PM. They couldn't have been nicer or more fun. There was another couple with young kids who were very cute playing with my granddaughter. They took us out on a sunset cruise to the outlet. Jeff was very knowledgeable about the bay. This is a brand new boat tour company in O.C. and we had a wonderful experience with it. We saw their office shack across the street from where we were staying and decided to book a sunset boat ride on the bay. We felt so welcomed by the staff on the boat. The service was warm and they went above and beyond to ensure we had a good time. They were willing to take suggestions from us if there was anything we wanted to see bayside. They let us bring our own snacks and drinks. There was ample seating on the boat (tip: bring a seat cushion if you can) and informative commentary. The staff were great with all the kids onboard and made them feel included in the trip. We saw so many cool things on the water and it was very beautiful being out there for the sunset. O.C. Bay Hopper also has other services in addition to the sunset ride, including family crabbing trips, pick ups and drop offs at Assateague Island, and a night cruise to watch fireworks. This is a honest company providing great service and a lot of fun at an amazing value. I highly recommend booking with them.
