We took the Cape May Lewes ferry last night and I could not recommend it more highly. We showed up with no reservation in our 20-ft high top van and were able to ferry from New Jersey to Delaware in that van for under $40. I still can't believe it. All of the staff that we encountered were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was a little nervous because I had never taken a vehicle on a ferry before, but the woman who made our reservation and charged us told me what to expect and where to park. She also explained that we could go inside to shop and eat at the cafe. We came during the off-season so the restaurant was closed and we did try to play some complementary mini golf outside but the staff said that is seasonal as well. Still, there was lots of information about the area and plenty of brochures to read inside the fairy terminal. They also had informational videos about things to do and a cute little shop with hot chocolate and sweatshirts. When it was time to board we headed back out to our van and drove onto the ferry. We stayed in our vehicle the majority of the time because we had read that dogs were not allowed in the enclosed areas of the ship. However, when I went inside to use the restroom and get a warm pretzel at the snack stand, I did see people with their dogs inside, so I'm not actually sure what the rules are, but it was really dog friendly. The trip took about 90 minutes and although it was dark for us because we left at 6 p.m. I imagine the scenery is beautiful during the day. It was a great experience from start to finish and SO affordable too!

Serves a great purpose in getting you across the bay. Loved the evening view. Only thing I disliked were the couple cars whose alarms kept going off.

While visiting Atlantic City, it was a beautiful day and I wanted to do something to take advantage of that. So I looked up ferry in the area and I saw there was a ferry from Cape Cod to Delaware. I paid $18 round-trip. I was a Foot passenger however there is an option to bring your car and I believe it was $85 round trip. The ship was huge and had a bar. It had a snack bar it seats up to 800 people and can take 100 cars. It was a nice relaxing ride. It was about an hour and a half. Just keep in mind that there is security checkpoint when entering both ports on each side. My only complaint is that the boat moves very slowly. I highly suggest this on a nice beautiful day very relaxing have a beer and enjoy the scenery.

This is the first time I've been on the ferry despite being "locale". The process is pretty easy, you pull open to the gate they tell you what line to go in after checking your ticket and you sit and wait. My surprise was the facility or visitor center whatever you want to call it while waiting for the ferry, Filled with shops, restaurants and bars for some reason I didn't imagine it being like that . I didn't have time to partake in any of it but it's was a pretty nice area to sit and relax in while you wait for the ferry, tons of outside seating for those nice days while you eating or having a drink with plenty of space to spread out and enjoy the wait. The staff were friendly and it was clean which is a surprise for Jersey . The ride itself was pleasant, the ferry is also setup with a bar and a small cafeteria style galley to purchase foot or drinks. There's ample sewrinng inside and outside of the cabin depending on whichever you prefer. All in all it was an enjoyable experience and I'll definitely be returning to check out some of the restaurants and bars.

On a warm summer day in August, you just can't beat a ride on this ferry. Honestly, it was even better than lying out on the beach for me. The boarding process was organized, efficient, the ferry interior was clean, there were drinks and snacks onboard and lemme tell you - the restrooms were dang nice. I know, not what you look for on a ferry, but hey, we're all human. A reasonable 80 minute ride from Jersey to Delaware on a boat with three levels from which to watch the water, and clear views of the Delaware Bay and the Atlantic? Not too shabby. If you're lucky, you might even spot a couple of dolphins frolicking in the waves, like we did. There are state parks on either end of the ferry as well, so you have recreation options once you disembark- straightaway. $100 for a round trip with a car and two passengers in August. Highly recommended.

A very good option to go to ocean city if you are traveling from NJ ... kids liked it too. It is about an hour and 15 mins sail from cape May to Ocean city MD . Easy booking ... costed ok - we paid about 37$ for our van and 10$ per person . Ferry had lots of seats inside and outside the deck . I really liked the push back seats .. very comfortable . They also have a gift shop and a small cafe with coffee and some snacks . There is also a bar on the 2nd floor. Very organized . Very comfortable . Had to wait an hour to board .. restaurants inside the ferry terminal weren't that good . Overall a good experience...

They run this so well! It is well organized and everyone is so friendly. I was nervous about driving my car onto the ferry for the first time but it was a breeze. I do mean everyone was so nice. The minute you drove onto the lot they were helpful. The boat ride itself was very enjoyable and the seats were comfortable. This is the only way to travel to and from Delaware!

Our first trip on this ferry! Want to break up the 6 hour trip from NJ to Virginia Beach. Drive 2 hours to Cape May to the ferry! Recommended to make reservation and arrive 30 minutes prior to board. Discounts for seniors and first responders. On-site welcome building with restrooms and restaurants. Miniature golf available and a lovely promenade along the Delaware Bay! On the ferry- restrooms, indoor and outdoor seating, restaurant, bar and souvenirs shop. So excited got to see whales, dolphins and seals!! Pet friendly- pets able to board. Highly recommend!!

The ferry between Cape May and Lewes is only 24 miles and takes about 90 minutes. Or you can drive through Dover, Wilmington and Vineland in about three hours (if there's no traffic) for 165 miles. That's an easy choice and it lands as my round number 18200th review! This was my third ferry ride after the St. Johns River Ferry https://www.yelp.com/biz/st-johns-river-ferry-atlantic-beach?hrid=c0NCtYGQpBRXnTSObVpDeQ and the Cross Sound Ferry https://www.yelp.com/biz/cross-sound-ferry-new-london-2?hrid=jau3k7NkMMDe94ecDCxc0A last year and my first in the Sprinter van. I purchased the ticket online and took a guess at timing. Of course, they want to know the length of the vehicle because that's how they determine the volume they can get on board. After exploring Lewes for a few hours, I arrived to the ferry terminal about 90 minutes early. The attendant pointed me to a lane and I was first in the lane. After the previous ferry departed, I headed inside for a bathroom break and a beer. Once the next ferry started loading, I headed back to the van. A different attendant asked if I wanted to go early "Yes, sir!" and a Delaware State Police officer took a very brief look in the back of my van (for what?) and I was one of the last to board. Fabulous, off to New Jersey an hour early on a sunny afternoon! You're not supposed to spend the journey in your vehicle, so after the announcement to disable alarm systems (which seemed to be missed by some), I headed upstairs. Lots of comfortable seating in the cabin and many seats outside in the fresh air of the Delaware Bay. Sights to see and a small gift shop where I purchased my postcards and a fridge magnet. Before too long, it was time to head back downstairs to the van and disembarkation. Super easy and very efficient because they do this a dozen or more times a day. Five stars for an interesting travel experience and I'm pleased that I was able to fit my 9'6" tall van on the ferry for a good time. [Review 18200 overall - 93 in New Jersey - 1722 of 2022.]

Amazing place. Ferry is the shortest and entertaining way to pass Delaware Bay in a good wheather.

It was a nice late spring afternoon when we went so we opted for outside under their covered patio area. Our server was so knowledgeable, fun, and really made the experience that much better! He allowed us to unwind and enjoy the space and gave us lots of interesting information about the winery and its history. Including how they names their bottles which was a neat detail to take home to share (as we got a few bottles for souvenirs). We opted for tastings of their sangria (so cool they have a few options of these) and a flight of their other wines which were all great but our favorites were their summer sangria (with peach) and their sparkling white wine. We also got a few bites to eat as well. The food paired well with our wines and we left full, happy, and with wines to take home for all! Highly recommend Willow Creek if you are in the Cape May area. You will not be disappointed!!! Also they sell their farm fresh eggs so you can get those too!

Things the Cape May Welcome Center has: -Maps…read more-Information on Cape May -Vending machines -Restrooms -An extremely irritable employee who does not like children I had one of the only bad experiences I have ever had in Cape May at - ironically - the Welcome Center today. It was the last day of our time in Cape May. We had spent two weeks with my husband's family, who had flown in from England and whom we hadn't seen in a year and a half, and the adults were feeling rather somber. The two middle kids - boys ages 2 1/2 and 5 1/2 - were picking up on the mood and behaving more rambunctiously than usual. We took our relatives to the Welcome Center - which doubles, essentially, as the bus depot - to say goodbye, as they were taking a bus to Philly to catch their flight. I stepped out to get some drinks and snacks for the trip, and when I returned, the boys were definitely keyed up - running about the Center and making more noise than I personally would have allowed (they were being supervised by my sister-in-law and a family friend, and in their defense, the Center had no other visitors at the time and the kids were not shouting or being destructive in any way). I had literally JUST walked in and was in the middle of saying, "Boys, you need to calm down," when one of the employees stood and SHOUTED at our family friend, "GET THEM UNDER CONTROL OR GET THEM OUT!!!" I was absolutely flabbergasted. I apologized immediately, got the kids quiet, and as soon as my son again began to trot across the (still empty) Center, I immediately escorted him outside. I have no patience whatsoever for whiny, bratty, or out of control kids, nor am I the type of parent who makes excuses for her kids' bad behavior - I fully agree they were being overactive and he had every right to say something. But for an employee at at Welcome Center, of all places, to stand and shout, rather than ask us politely (at least the first time), was simply rude and unprofessional. He should be just as embarrassed about his behavior as I was about my kids' - maybe more so, given that he's the adult and should have better control over himself. Bottom line: in spite of the cute "put your face here" mermaid and pilot stand ups at the Cape May Welcome Center (and bus depot), it is apparently no place for kids.
