Had a wonderfully relaxing time at Willow Creek Winery while visiting in late May! The have many options for indoor and outdoor seating on their expansive and beautiful property. It was a nice late spring afternoon when we went so we opted for outside under their covered patio area. Our server was so knowledgeable, fun, and really made the experience that much better! He allowed us to unwind and enjoy the space and gave us lots of interesting information about the winery and its history. Including how they names their bottles which was a neat detail to take home to share (as we got a few bottles for souvenirs). We opted for tastings of their sangria (so cool they have a few options of these) and a flight of their other wines which were all great but our favorites were their summer sangria (with peach) and their sparkling white wine. Really disappointing experience. Our group clearly asked the server to apply part of the cash left on the table toward the bill and charge the remaining balance to card, while still leaving him a generous tip. Instead, the cash was apparently treated entirely as gratuity, resulting in nearly a 40% tip and the full bill still charged to the card. The bigger issue was management's response afterward -- completely dismissive, defensive, and unwilling to take accountability for what was clearly a staff miscommunication. After spending the day at the zoo with my kids, it was time for the parents to have a well-earned treat and Willow Creek was the perfect spot. To my surprise this is actually a place I enjoyed with kids! They had a kids' menu, gorgeous vineyard views, and live music that had me singing along without even thinking about it. My husband and I each ordered the deviled crab cake sandwich, and it was delicious meaty, full of flavor! We also got two sangria whips one guava pear and the other blueberry pomegranate. Both things I was very excited to order and it did not disappoint! We ended with a sweet wine flight that was smooth and easy to enjoy. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful first experience at the winery. We (obviously) made the trip for the amazing looking whips we saw all of last summer on their social media. They did not disappoint! We had the mango whip with white sangria and the pomegranate whip with red sangria. They are about $17 each but well worth it on a warm sunny afternoon! The wine was good and the outdoor area was beautiful on a nice sunny fall day! Our check-in experience really detracted from the experience though. (Reservations highly recommended on weekends.) We were in the Cape May area nearby and decided to stop in for a flight. When we arrived, the patio was pretty busy but not entirely full. Several other groups arrived right behind us, so there was a line. The hostess seemed extremely frazzled and unorganized. We stood for about 5 to 10 minutes as several workers tried to figure out where they could seat us outside, despite being a party of two and there being several open tables. Then the hostess started completely ignoring us and asking for parties with a reservation, which would've been understandable had she communicated that to us at all. A simple apology or a "let me get take care of the reservations first, and then I'll be right with you" goes a long way. The other young (teenage-early 20s) workers also seemed almost afraid of the hostess, like they were trying to stay out of her way while also not helping at all. However, once we are finally sat 10 minutes later, our server was friendly, and we enjoyed our flights. Moral of the story: definitely make a reservation before you come. read more

The tables on the patio are first come, first served and we said that we'd rather keep our reservation and dine inside. The heavy sigh and eye roll almost made us turn and leave, but we stayed. The French baguette was extremely hard to bite into but after it sat with all the juices from the tomatoes, olive oil, herbs, etc. it softened up a bit. I thought it was quite tasty. For our entrees we ordered the smash burger and fish sandwich. The fries were crispy, we just didn't like our food which is okay. I think next time we'll just stick to wine and starters. My Negative experience is based on this wineries customer service. I brought a friend from Kentucky here on Thursday. We called on our to make sure they were open and asked if they had coffee available. The person on the phone said she didn't know If they had coffee. She said we would have to ask our server. We arrived at 4:30 ( They close at 6 PM). As we pulled up to a full parking lot, we received a phone call from the manager. She asked how close we were because they would like to "close early" if not busy. She was obviously disappointed we had already arrived. We asked again if they had coffee and she said they did but they were out and said " We certainly aren't going to make a pot for one person"! What???? I grew up in the restaurant industry! My father owned a restaurant, and I worked there for half of my adult life. Where was the customer service? My friend out of town wanted to experience a beautiful winery....to drink a glass of wine and eat some food! I was the DD so I was not drinking. An hour and a half before closing and no coffee? I grew up in the restaurant industry. My father owned and operated a restaurant for most of my life. I couldn't imagine treating a customer this way!! A pot of coffee is an easy thing to make and it doesn't cost much money! My one cup of coffee would have covered the cost of the pot plus! and what about the 30 to 40 other customers that were still there? no coffee for them either I guess! It's sad that customer service is no longer as important as it should be. It was obvious that the manager Just wanted us to leave. There are so many beautiful wineries in this area! A beautiful setting deep in the wilderness of Cape May. The place is huge. Huge enough to be a destination for weddings and other events. Which is great if you are looking for that. Today's flavor was a choice of black cherry or pineapple. Well, why go for one when you can have both? Now that I have experienced it, I think I can safely go back to being more of a purest in the future. The food menu is pretty extensive. The Bavarian Pretzel - served with sweet bavarian mustard - is actually outstanding. The Jersey Peach - arugula topped with preserved peaches, goat cheese, walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette - could have been better. Way too many greens without enough dressing. For my taste I would have just cut back on the greens and kept the same amount of dressing. I did sample an off-menu Wilde Cock Blush Table Wine. It seemed to have notes that reminded me of a sherry without being so heavy. Paying the bill I ended up taking three bottles of that home as well since it was rather unique. If you've ever wondered what it feels like to be actively unwanted at a business you made a reservation for, look no further than Willow Creek Winery in Cape May. We had a reservation at 1:15. By 1:17 (yes, TWO minutes late), they called to see "where we were" and basically implied they might not even take us. Spoiler: when we arrived, they had already given away our table. The excuse? "The kitchen closes at 1:15." Who on earth books reservations at the exact moment they shut down service? Genius move, Willow Creek. They sent us to the bar like lost children and said we could "sit wherever." We asked for their signature frozen sangria -- the drink they literally advertise -- and were told they "weren't serving it." Meanwhile, like a comedy sketch, servers walked right past us delivering frozen sangrias to other tables. I guess some guests are just more deserving than others? As we tried to choke down a glass of plain wine and salvage the afternoon, we got to enjoy the ambiance of teenage boys dragging tables around us like we were sitting in the middle of a moving company's training day. The manager? A shining beacon of rudeness, barking orders and dismantling the space around paying guests because -- wait for it -- they were setting up for a wedding. At FOUR. Newsflash: if you close at 4, maybe don't start tearing the place apart at 2 while people are still there trying to enjoy themselves. Even the bartender, bless him, whispered apologies and basically admitted it was ridiculous. When your own staff are talking trash about management to guests, you know the ship is sinking. So thank you, Willow Creek, for the masterclass in how to ruin a day trip. I love love loved the vibe, food and drinks at this winery! My mom found this winery when another winery of the area was full. Willow Creek has tons of seating and accepts reservations. We were seated right away and the service was very quick. I had the dry red flight, which comes with three 3 oz pours of 3 different reds. They have lots of different flight combinations and you can also build your own. I loved all 3 wines, which doesn't always happen in a flight! I was super impressed with the quality of wine. To eat, we shared the cheese board and pretzel. The cheese board was some of the best cheese I have had in the US... so delish! You can pick 3 meats or cheeses with the option to add additional ones for $6 extra. We went with the truffle goat cheese (my fav!), brie, cheddar, and manchego. The board comes with a baguette, grapes, dates, nuts, olive oil, and olives. I would get this every time! The pretzel was also amazing. It is HUGE and definitely big enough to share. It is served warm, and comes with mustard. I liked topping it with the cheddar from the cheese board. This is definitely my new go-to winery down the shore! Long review ahead but please read! If I can give this winery zero stars, I would! I arrived over an hour early with a large party ready to drop $1k or more on food and wine. We didn't have a reservation, but based on a prior visit with the same size group, we didn't think it would be an issue. Please note that we didn't make reservations because we didn't plan on it this time. It was on the fly. A few minutes before opening, we went inside to let the hostell know that we had a large party and would like to sit outside if possible. From the start, the hostess greeted us with rudeness and visible annoyance. Despite that, we were seated outside with two large tables. We were handed menus, only to be told moments later by our waiter that the hostess insisted we move inside. When we asked why, she claimed our party was "too large for the waitstaff to serve outside" and reminded us that we didn't have reservations. This didn't make sense as there were clearly tables available outside to accomodate large groups, and since we had already been seated, it is reasonable to assume those tables werent reserved. We complied and moved inside, but as we did, we watched the same hostess warmly greet another party (without reservations - we heard them say so) and seat them outside without issue. When she turned back to us and another separate group, she threw up her hands, sighed loudly, and said she "didn't know what was going on." She then lumped our group together with the othger party, assming we were one group simply becuase both parties were Asian. When corrected, she continued to act frustrated, walking back and forth and raising her voice, as though we had done something wrong We were calm, polite, and patient throughout this entire intereaction. Instead of handling the situation with professionalism, the hostess was abrupt and disrespectful. At that point, I handed back the menus and told my gourp that it was clear our business wasn't welcome. As we left, I saw several other parties being seated outside, so space was never the issue. To the hostess (I think your name is Diane): You are in the wrong line of work. If you can't manage basic courtesy, don't work in hospitatlity. If you can't treat minority patrons the same as everyone else, don't work with the public at all! You were a b**** to us from the moment we walked in. Your behavior wasn't just bad service, it was insulting an dare I say, discriminatory. You should be embarrassed. To future patrons: Think twice before supporitng an establishment that treates its minority customers this way. I will make sure I tell all of my family, friends, colleagues and every single person in my network about what happened there. read more

The experience began as we drove up their incredibly long driveway, past acres of grape vines and scenery. It really was beautiful. We had our long table set up in the middle of the tasting room, and soon glasses and flights of wine and sangria started filling up the table. Their wine menu is very deep, with Reds, Whites, Roses, Sangrias, Sweets, and Flights for pretty much everything. I went with a Sangria Flight for $20 -pretty big pours of their red, White, and Mixed Sangrias. I have to tell ya, I LOVED all three of them. Some of the best sangrias I've ever had. By the way, I loved the presentation for the flight- sort of a small metal tree with a holder for the wine glass on three "branches" of the tree. Very cool... Our group was scheduled for an early dinner, so most of us went easy for our mid day meal. We went in with another couple for an interstingly named "Wilde Cock Combo Board" - a charcuterie platter with Prosciutto, Chorizo, Soppresseta, Manchegoand cheddar cheeses, walnuts, olives, figs, grapes, and baguettes. It was escellent, and the meats, cheeses and bread were fantastic. Our server did an admirable job taking the orders but seemed to auction off what people wanted because she didn;t really have a system to know what went where or for who ordered what. But we figured it out and everything was delivered to the right station eventually. By the time we left the tasting room was packed including a good sized bachelorette party that kept marching off to the restroom in sixes. read more
