However, do NOT go to this winery if you wish to be able to have a conversation while you dine. The background music is played at the level of a rock concert. I very politely asked, twice, if it would be possible to turn down the volume on the nearest speaker. Both of my requests were ignored. I guess WCW calls it "benign neglect". Had a wonderfully relaxing time at Willow Creek Winery while visiting in late May! The have many options for indoor and outdoor seating on their expansive and beautiful property. It was a nice late spring afternoon when we went so we opted for outside under their covered patio area. Our server was so knowledgeable, fun, and really made the experience that much better! He allowed us to unwind and enjoy the space and gave us lots of interesting information about the winery and its history. Including how they names their bottles which was a neat detail to take home to share (as we got a few bottles for souvenirs). We opted for tastings of their sangria (so cool they have a few options of these) and a flight of their other wines which were all great but our favorites were their summer sangria (with peach) and their sparkling white wine. We also got a few bites to eat as well. The food paired well with our wines and we left full, happy, and with wines to take home for all! This was the least accommodating winery I've ever been to. made a reservation in advance for 1245 on a Saturday. Arrived on time and the place was jampacked and was so loud I had a ringing in my ear for two hours after I left. We did not know that they were closing down at 2 o'clock for a wedding and if we knew that in advance or if it was posted on their website, we would not have made a reservation, but we were booted out immediately when it was 20 minutes prior to 2 o'clock. The waitress was very rude. There were lots of restrictions. We had a reservation for seven people for an 85th birthday and when we saw how loud it was, we asked to get moved outside and they said there was no way to accommodate that request. There were tons of patio tables not being used and we just didn't understand why they couldn't pull two tables under the overhang because it was a very miserable rainy day as well. The coldness of the entire staff was enough to determine from visiting again. The wines were mediocre. My suggestion is planning on heading there to make sure you call in advance and make sure there are no parties or weddings happening because otherwise they will be booting you out the door read more

After spending the day at the zoo with my kids, it was time for the parents to have a well-earned treat and Willow Creek was the perfect spot. To my surprise this is actually a place I enjoyed with kids! They had a kids' menu, gorgeous vineyard views, and live music that had me singing along without even thinking about it. My husband and I each ordered the deviled crab cake sandwich, and it was delicious meaty, full of flavor! We also got two sangria whips one guava pear and the other blueberry pomegranate. Both things I was very excited to order and it did not disappoint! We ended with a sweet wine flight that was smooth and easy to enjoy. My husband and I went to this winery for a tasting, which they were not doing. We did a "flight" each instead. I did their "estate" flight, my husband chose a different flight. We only had one wine that was the same for the 6 half glasses of wine (3 per flight). We each tried all of them. I'm pretty familiar with wines, and I have to say that I really didn't like any of them. I was stunned. Their prices are quite high, especially for wine that is not that goid (in my opinion). The grounds were gorgeous. They obviously cater to parties. If you're looking for a good wine tasting experience in Cape May, with good wine, check out the Cape May Winery. We had a generally disappointing experience at Willow Creek Winery--bad enough that it felt worth calling out. The cheese plate was underwhelming across the board: stale bread, mediocre selections, and prosciutto that didn't seem properly cured. It's a pretty basic offering, and it was surprising to see it so poorly executed. When both our group and another nearby mentioned the stale bread and asked for a replacement, the bartender seemed uninterested--said he'd "try" to get more, then never returned. We also asked for pita chips with the spinach dip (which normally comes with tortilla chips) and were brought another full bowl of tortilla chips instead. At that point, we didn't bother correcting it--especially as seagulls had started circling and there Wa no staff around to help. Things escalated when the seagulls became aggressive. With no employees in sight, we had to move ourselves and what we could carry to a covered area. Unfortunately, we couldn't grab everything in time--seagulls took over, knocked over glasses, and made a mess. I even ran back to clear what I could to avoid impacting other guests. Eventually, a bus person came to clean up, but there was no apology or even acknowledgment of what had happened. We left immediately and won't be returning. read more

Katia's service was excellent, despite a customer service snafu with management. The food and wine offerings were good, but not great. NJ wines tend to lean very sweet, and this place was no exception. However, we did seek this place out because of their frozen sangria, but it just wasn't what we expected. We thought it would be like a frose, or frozen marg, but it was creamy like an ice cream float. A wine flight will run you $30 and a wine bottle is a minimum of $30, with most closer to $40-$50. Cheese plates are also around $30. It's an expensive day, ya'll! My girlfriend and I had a wonderful first experience at the winery. We (obviously) made the trip for the amazing looking whips we saw all of last summer on their social media. They did not disappoint! We had the mango whip with white sangria and the pomegranate whip with red sangria. They are about $17 each but well worth it on a warm sunny afternoon! Our server left without telling us she was leaving and never let us know that someone else would be taking over, leaving us waiting and unsure of what was happening. The restaurant had 30-40 empty tables available, yet another guest with a dog was seated right next to us. Our dog became very reactive, and with so many open tables, this situation could have easily been avoided. We ordered a bottle of wine, which was fine, and planned to order additional food. The wine was good and the outdoor area was beautiful on a nice sunny fall day! Our check-in experience really detracted from the experience though. (Reservations highly recommended on weekends.) We were in the Cape May area nearby and decided to stop in for a flight. When we arrived, the patio was pretty busy but not entirely full. Several other groups arrived right behind us, so there was a line. The hostess seemed extremely frazzled and unorganized. We stood for about 5 to 10 minutes as several workers tried to figure out where they could seat us outside, despite being a party of two and there being several open tables. Then the hostess started completely ignoring us and asking for parties with a reservation, which would've been understandable had she communicated that to us at all. A simple apology or a "let me get take care of the reservations first, and then I'll be right with you" goes a long way. The other young (teenage-early 20s) workers also seemed almost afraid of the hostess, like they were trying to stay out of her way while also not helping at all. However, once we are finally sat 10 minutes later, our server was friendly, and we enjoyed our flights. Moral of the story: definitely make a reservation before you come. read more

Shortly after being seated, we were greeted by our waitress. We started off with a wine flight, a glass of sangria and a glass of their Dole whip sangria float which is seasonal so ask your server for the flavor of the day! At the time of visit, the flavor was passion fruit. The wine flight came out on a tree; I loved the presentation. We also ordered some small bites. For starters, the asiago bruschetta which was okay. The French baguette was extremely hard to bite into but after it sat with all the juices from the tomatoes, olive oil, herbs, etc. it softened up a bit. I thought it was quite tasty. For our entrees we ordered the smash burger and fish sandwich. The fries were crispy, we just didn't like our food which is okay. I think next time we'll just stick to wine and starters. If you are planning a wedding here, think twice. It is very difficult to connect with staff or to receive a call back. We were getting a bit nervous the week of the wedding because of the lack of communication, so we took a ride to Willow Creek only to find they had the wedding booked for that Saturday (wedding was on Friday). Their bridal suite is a bit far from the venue, so you need to figure out transportation, all for the low price of $750 for a few hours. Also, there is only one parking spot available per bridal suite. The bride requested white wine but was told she could only have red. I never did receive an answer why that I understood. The service after the wedding ceremony was mostly non existent with guests getting their own drinks at the bar and the bride serving her own wedding. When we asked the bartender how he knew whose drinks went on our bill he said 'if you were dressed up and looked like you were at the wedding, I put it on your bill'. It was a small wedding of 20 people, with drinks and a few charcuterie boards the bill came to almost $4k. read more

The grounds are beautiful... the food is mediocre and the staff (except for our server) are snotty. They were scheduled to close early yesterday (October 11) for a private event. We checked in at 12:25 for a 12:30 reservation. We were asked if we were going to have appetizers or order entrees. Because we said appetizers (and wine), they wanted us to go back out to the patio to eat. The tables on the patio are first come, first served and we said that we'd rather keep our reservation and dine inside. The heavy sigh and eye roll almost made us turn and leave, but we stayed. The food was luke warm and we were rushed through our meal. Busboys, other servers and the hostesses tried to take some of our plates/glasses before we finished. We were a party of seven - seated at 12:30 and out by 1:30. Instead of rushing the lunch crowd, they should have closed the place for the day. A beautiful setting deep in the wilderness of Cape May. The place is huge. Huge enough to be a destination for weddings and other events. Which is great if you are looking for that. However, I'm not so sure how it works if you try to visit while a major event is going on. At least for the time I spent there, the place was quiet. Service was a little slow, but that helped me unwind and sink into the surroundings. I started with what seems to be the social media catcher of the Dole Whipped Sangria. Today's flavor was a choice of black cherry or pineapple. Well, why go for one when you can have both? It is an interesting combination that I would love to hate, but there is something deeply refreshing about it on a warm day in the sun. Now that I have experienced it, I think I can safely go back to being more of a purest in the future. The food menu is pretty extensive. The Bavarian Pretzel - served with sweet bavarian mustard - is actually outstanding. The Jersey Peach - arugula topped with preserved peaches, goat cheese, walnuts, and raspberry vinaigrette - could have been better. Way too many greens without enough dressing. For my taste I would have just cut back on the greens and kept the same amount of dressing. I did sample an off-menu Wilde Cock Blush Table Wine. It seemed to have notes that reminded me of a sherry without being so heavy. Paying the bill I ended up taking three bottles of that home as well since it was rather unique. Speaking of unique, you can take the sangria home in growlers. It has a 5-day shelf life so if you are close enough to be "local" that could be an interesting option. read more
