Collier's is a conveniently placed liquor store not just for residents but those of us who need take up on the BYOB spots in the area. Convenience is the key word however. As some other reviews mention, it isn't the cheapest of liquor stores. My usual spots have the same wines for $1-$3 cheaper. I don't know what else may be marked up but when it comes a night out and you're walking distance to where you're eating, you're gonna pay that mark up. The selection was OK, I've seen worse and the girl at checkout was OK too. If you want to have cheaper prices and perhaps a better selection I suppose you could do better. This isn't the largest liquor store you'll ever see. However, they seem to have everything you need for a great time. They help me pick out a great rosé. I don't even like rosé, but whatever they picked for me was really good with dinner. If you're in Cape May, this is your go to get your bottle of wine for dinner. read more

This has become our go to alcohol spot when we're in Cape May. Plenty of parking and their prices are reasonable. The staff is helpful and friendly too. They carry a lot of different beers/wines and spirits. Prefer to go here and not bring down booze as it takes up a lot of room. ENJOY! read more

We're staying right down the road on Washington Street so it's a quick bike ride here. They've got a good selection of local craft beer at inflated prices with expensive waters; it wouldn't be a good choice to stock up for a big party unless you've got money to burn. The first time we went in on a Saturday, the girl at the register was not friendly or helpful but maybe she didn't speak English. The 2nd time we went back during the week and the guy and girl working were good. It's $60 every time we go in for a few 6 packs and some waters. Looks like they have plenty of parking. read more

Visiting Cape May for half the week and looking to get a small pack of beer, was recommended by the clerk at Acme to drop by Collier's a few blocks away. There was ample parking, actually was the only one there on a Wednesday afternoon. Collier's is the only liquor store I frequent when I'm in Cape May. Is there even another one in town? I have no idea, but really, why would you go anywhere else? Collier's has a pretty extensive supply of wine. As many smaller restaurants in Cape May are BYOB, a stop at Collier's is become a must. One of the only liquor stores in town and is centrally located near the strip known as the "mall" You can take a walk on over. Very Large selections of wine & champagne. Many chilled in the fridge also. Prices are relative to most of NJ, which is nice to see. Also have a craft beer selection. Fun bottle openers and bar accessories throughout the store. While on vacation in Cape May with extended family we set out to add to my brother's supply of booze for the 'younger' house. My husband and I navigated the tiny shop and filled our grocery cart with Harpoon White UFO beer (6pk= $ 10.49) a few local Cape May IPA's, Barritts Ginger beer, tonic, club soda, Sailor Jerry Rum (750 ml= $ 24.95), Absolut Citron Vodka (750 ml=$ 24.99), Deep Eddy Ruby Red (750 ml = $ 20.99), Bombay Sapphire Gin (750 ml=$ 29.95), as well as Wine for a total of $ 201.94 Staff was helpful and efficient. The location is great if you don't feel like going far from town. Prices reflect the convenience factor. read more

Not a huge place but a seemingly great selection. On the wine side with many places being BYOB it is nice to see a number of 1/2 bottle selections at the checkout counter. Outside of the more usual suspects for me the more interesting part was the craft beer. Perhaps not the largest selection I have ever seen but still a pretty good run with Delirium Red, two different Game of Thrones, etc. Yes, there are six packs, four packs, but more importantly a good selection of individual bottles. My only negative note is the one shelf of the smaller bottles seemed a little stale -- unless my eyes were failing me some of them seemed to be dust covered. Having a home here for years I try to take the lack of any customer service and inflated prices of Colliers with a grain of salt. But lately it's almost like they are intentionally being rude, it boarders on celebratory. Stick with Sunset everyone. For the extra 1/4 mile it's so worth it for the better service and selection. read more

Where to begin? Maybe it was the aroma of vinegar or the bitter sweet Taste or anti-freeze but this wine hit a little different. I went with the Cabernet Sauvignon but what I got was a sour lemon with an airy bleach flavor. This review was typed by my new Golden Retriever "Doug" because shortly after drinking this wine I went blind. Stopped here mid-week the last week of February. We are not knowledgable drinkers, even at our age (50's) so we needed help. The staff (the little lady, about my age) was incredibly helpful. We described what we like and don't like in wine. Not seeing what we usually buy in other such stores, we asked and were steered in a wonderful direction! I guess it's because they are the only show in town, but on both occasions going in to the store, we were met with rude and uninterested people that worked there. One word answers on any topic from wine to places to eat was as good as it got. My wife and I will be sure to bring our own wine for our next visit. read more

I probably won't be giving Collier's Liquor any business at any point in the near future when I go to Cape May for vacation. The clerk was extremely rude and basically played 20 questions with me over my $8.00 wine purchase. I understand you must verify someone's id at any point when they purchase any kind of alcohol in order to see that their of age. But the way I was treated was completely unnecessary, not to mention disrespectful. I take my bottle of wine up to the counter, expecting to be carded, as I am a very young looking 22 year old woman. The clerk asks for my id, (he seemed to be a manger/owner as he was helping all the other cashiers), he then looks over my id and within ear shot says you have to be careful we've been getting a lot of fakes from Connecticut and New York. I don't know why this was relevant to mention as he was checking my id, being that I'm from Pennsylvania. Then after he looks my id over for about five minutes, he continues to question me about my place of residence and the surrounding areas. I guess to 'validate' my identity. But it really just came off as excessive and a little creepy. OH WAIT THERE'S MORE..... He tells me my total, so I hand him two five dollar bills to cover my $8.00 bottle of wine. He then proceeds to check my five dollar bills by holding them up to the light, and as if that's not enough he asks another clerk to hand him the counterfeit detection pen to test their authenticity, and mentions that "We've had a lot of fake 5's." Which I somehow DO NOT buy. Seriously? Then when he was satisfied and convinced that both of my 5 dollar bills were the real deal, he continues to question me about my hometown and surrounding areas as I'm walking out of the store. I was a cashier at a major retail store for two years. I have NEVER EVER checked a 5 for authenticity. The store would take the loss if something that small turned out to not be genuine. Especially over a purchase that is under $10. That's just insulting. In fact, I was informed to never check anything under a $20 bill. In conclusion, I have waited 22 long years to be able to buy alcohol legally, and I should be able to do so without being treated like some common small-time criminal. I would not recommend this place to anyone who even looks remotely young, or out of the ordinary. Unless you're into being interrogated while buying your alcohol. read more
