This one is on the bay side of the island (hence the name, duh!) and in September, it was still pretty buggy, so absolutely make sure you bring bug spray/netting/etc with you. I've heard the one on the beach side is a little more forgiving in that regard. However, what you get here is a lot more of the ponies. Now, keep in mind that you're supposed to keep your distance, but the ponies themselves do not care. They'll wander into the middle of your camp while you're making coffee to scratch themselves on a cooler. They'll steal food if they can, so make sure you lock everything up in your car. Do you like being awoken by a loud whinny in the middle of the night? This campground is for you. Make sure you bring longer tent stakes for the sandy conditions, and if it's warm, something to block the sun, because most of these sites have little in the way of shade or privacy. They are really great though. The bathroom facilities are good.

We will definitely try a different location away from the marsh. They have bathhouses for campers only nearby and open at all hours. They did a good job trying to keep it clean. The campgrounds are clean. You have access to fishing . You are able to walk to the beach but we drive to the parking lot and the parking pass given by the campground covered the parking spot. The beach has lifeguards and there are two restaurants and shops. The beach has restrooms and bathhouses within free same center as the restaurants. They do not have BBQ grills. Bring your stove tops to cook and food that's doesn't required heating. They don't allow outside wood for any type of grills. You can find additional information on the website. The area is kid friendly and secure. They have a nice playground. I will try this location again.

The first cottage 104 had an amazing outdoor area…read more However, the inside of the cottage was very small (as in sofa in the kitchen and small table) We had ants on the kitchen counter ( they did come and spray) the comforters had hair all over them and there was hair piles on the bunk room floor. The other cottage we had was ok- not super clean but not dirty like the other one. However, I would not recommend using the sofa beds. The mattresses were super slim and you could feel the springs- think 1980's mattress. We also were not able to get into our cottages until an hour after check in time. I understand they are short staffed which probably accounted for the dirtiness and the lateness of check in but at the price they charge they should consider not renting all the cabins out if they can't clean all of them or charge a cheaper price to make up for the lack of cleanliness. On a positive note. they were quick to come spray for ants and fix our other concerns and the staff was very nice. The resort itself is very nice and if you have your own RV it would be a nice place to stay.

We turned it off as soon as they told us. Quiet hours 11pm-8am. It was little after 11 when they came by. Darnell got very defensive when my spouse indicated he should put his headlights on since it can be dangerous. He came at my husband and would not leave our site. He was very unprofessional. Then the owner and man came over 5 minutes later. They made excuses for their staff. They said, "he doesn't use headlights because he was trying to find a kid who was riding on electric scooter." That does not sound safe by any means. There are kids and people everywhere. Yes, we shouldn't have music on after quiet hours, but we immediately turned it off. We lost track of time and that is our fault. A staff member flipping out on us by telling them to put their headlights on is not professional at all. He knew we were right and that is why he got defensive. Tried to get the owners to leave us alone after we were quiet, but they kept rehashing the situation. Then the owner guy accused us and said we probably have kids going crazy on electric bikes/scooters (which we don't). We had a great time before this incident. But given the unprofessional staff, staff riding around with no headlights on at night, and high prices, we will not be returning.

Never had a single problem with any rules, never a single hassle with security. They put money back into the campgrounds every year to keep it nice. Yes, there are rules, would you want to bring your kids here if there weren't?! Can you imagine what it would be like without some rules?! I have interacted with the owners and staff since 2008, never a single instance of rudeness etc. This is a great place! 2 pools, laundry facilities, you have your own electric service direct with the utility, marina and minutes from every aspect of the beach and bay. Nothing but awesome in my experience. This is a great place to bring your family. 5 stars!!

I plan a spring and fall trip, and always stay at Sun Outdoors. My favorite rv sites are near the beach access and the tiki bar. Their specialty is crushes, fresh squeezed fruit beverages and some evenings there is a live band and a roaring beach campfire. Ahhh, the good life!

They had me camp right next to the dumpsters and they were not efficient in picking it up so the…read morewarm scent of garbage was wafting over my campsite during my stay. Bathrooms were kept decently clean. I didn't appreciate that they have coin showers. If I'm paying nearly $50 a night to camp I think a free shower is reasonable. They have some bullshit sign on the wall that they charge for showers to reduce water use. Yeah, sure. Very believable.

Well, maybe, but you only get what you pay for. 2. The staff here has been nothing but phenomenal, they have been working like crazy and I feel they are completely under-appreciated. This place has so many good reviews that are based simply on the job they do. 3. There are isolated issues, sometimes, but thats life. Things aren't always going to be perfect. Look at the big picture. But they sure as hell try to fix any issue. 4. Thank you OVR for the best thing weve ever done as a family. This will be our 2nd home for life. And thank you for helping make the memories that we cherish.
