Good location and nice amenities and live music on the weekends. Dog beach was great for our Bulldog!!

Great place for a family, especially one with an RV. It's a camp site that happens to have a beach, but they only have about 10 tent sites. The beach is kind small, but does have a cute tiki bar with live music and dock to fish or crab off of. The sites are clean, the bathrooms are plentiful with showers, and there is a pool. The general store is reasonably priced with wood, ice, and any other amenities you need. There is a fitness room, an arcade, an ice cream shop, mini golf, shuttle to ocean city and assateague, and golf carts to rent. As just two adults, this definitely felt like a more family oriented adventure. Also, recommend an RV for this location as the prices may seem high if you're just planning to tent camp.

This was our first stay at Castaways, and we are already talking about going back in the future. The grounds are very nice, and the deluxe sites are worth it. The water was a two second walk from our trailer! It's well maintained and very clean as well. The staff were excellent; an activities coordinator drove around in the evening to make sure everyone was settled and doing well. Erin, the bartender we met twice at the tiki bar on site, was a wonderful bartender with a friendly smile and quick service. The camp is VERY dog friendly, easily ranks #1 in that regard of any campground we have ever stayed at. There are several dog runs, a dedicated Bark Beach, and a dog wash station! Expect to see plenty of pooches on your stay here. And the tiki bar I mentioned? A great fun place to meet your fellow campers and have a drink. Best of all, it is 21+ so you can feel free to have your adult time without worrying about little ears overhearing. The drinks were good and made with fresh ingredients.

Beautiful campground. We were lucky enough to get a site near the water with beautiful views. Lots to do and for young and old. Caught a 22 inch flounder right off the bulkhead. Well Kept grounds and the Castaway club is the best with e huge sites and plenty of privacy and space. Tiki bar is a plus. Kid and dog friendly. Both hibachi and fire ring provided.

This is our 2nd time back ! castaways continues to be our favorite place !! We have traveled throughout the USA and have been to many RV resorts , but we love castaways and will come back . Our site was perfect , the staff is friendly and helpful, the bartenders at the tiki and pool bar are awesome! It's just the perfect spot to come to . Thank you castaways for another perfect vacation ! Darlene & Rocky Rizzutti

This review has nothing to due with Covid. No one answers the phones! Not even the after hours emergency number! the first cabin we check into was nothing like the "online photo!" No porch! No outdoor furniture! No picnic table! Plywood on the windows! The second site has trash in the fire pit! Mattress pads were gross and again no answer on the phones!!!!!! The front sliding door does not unlock with the key either! totally not worth the amount of money!!!!!

Ask the Community - Sun Outdoors Ocean City

What time does the shuttle start running? And what time does it stop running for both Assateague and the boardwalk?

At this time we do not have information to provide as we are working on updating.

Is there a shuttle to assateague, casinos and ocean city? If so, how much

Hi Cindy, The shuttle does not go to the casino. It does go to Ocean City for free and to…

    Is it for kids?

Including inside the waterpark, the main saloon and restaurant, and other ice cream trucks and treats throughout. There is an area where you can dock a boat if you have one... And you can walk along the pier and go fishing. Included in your stay is the waterpark and pool. There is a cowboy show - shoot out happens at 7 and Native American cultural show you can attend at 2 or 5, daily I believe. We attended the Native American show, which is awesome. It is family run, and we learned some words as well as watch traditional dances. You could also throw the hatchet, do archery or get your hair braided in the same area. In addition to that they have a zip line and ropes course, as well as mini golf, that you can pay separately for. My husband and I did the ropes course which was challenging but really a lot of fun! There are golf carts you can rent for $100 a day to get around the property. There are endless things to do and each day we stayed we did something different. Great weekend. Check it out!

My son requests it every year and talk about it for weeks before we go and after. What's so great about it? It is set up like a real Wild West town (and Indian village) they have performances with shoot outs (using blanks) and activities for kids (ax throwing, mining for gold, mechanical bull riding, shooting bow and arrows. And my son (and now daughter's). Favorite part....running around the town shooting at kids with cap guns while they shoot back. This year the actors even stayed around and got into to some pretend gun fits w the kids (would fall over dead as kids shot at them) My kids could have played there all night...they were having the time of their lives This year we went to the water park for the first time and that was a lot of fun too. Getting into frontier town itself is free. But you kind of need to buy your kid a cap gun (or bring one!) and all the activities cost some money. But in my opinion it is a very unique experience you can't get anywhere else. You can't bring coolers or outside food but they do have good, some fun kid drinks, and alcoholic beverages for the grown ups. For people that like camping they also have cabins and campgrounds there....and they run a shuttle to Ocean City which is only 15 miles away. We have never done the camping. We actually usually stay in Rehoboth Bach (an hour away) and drove there for the day (my kids love it that much) OR hit it on our way home. Frontier town has been such a special part of our kid's beach memory making every year! P.S they also have Go Ape and Mini Golf there too.

That being said, we really love this campground, and I wanted to give them a well-deserved shout-out. We first visited in early November and liked it so much that we went back two weeks later. I was honestly surprised by some reviews claiming the owners are money-hungry or rip people off, because that was the complete opposite of our experience. We were originally supposed to stay there in October, but we had an accident that damaged our truck on the day of arrival. I called the resort to cancel and even told them I'd understand if they still needed to charge me due to the short notice. Instead, they gave us a credit for our next stay, which was wonderful and much appreciated. If you're looking for a campground loaded with frills, this isn't it. What you do get are beautiful sites, including the pull-throughs we stayed in that offer direct views of the Chesapeake Bay and some amazing sunsets. Sites include electric and water but no sewer; however, they provide septic carts and several dump stations, similar to many state parks. They also have fire rings and picnic tables, which should be standard everywhere in my opinion. Other than that, it's simply a quiet, relaxed, and scenic campground. My only wish is that WiFi were free, since it is at many other campgrounds. We found the staff to be very friendly and accommodating. The camp store has a solid selection of necessities, and the prices were not unreasonable. Given its proximity to Rock Hall (which is an amazing little town), Chestertown, and the Bay, this is definitely going to be one of our regular camping spots. We're already planning several trips for next year.

This would be a 5 star review for sure if the WiFi coverage was better, if there was sewer at the sites, if the bathrooms were open. They made it clear that these things were not included, so it was not a surprise and they do have portable restrooms around. One more portable in the middle of the B-site area would be good. Overall this place is great and we will be returning. Already booked as a matter of fact :)

The cabin that sleeps 4-6 people was spotlessly clean and smelled great. The bathhouse has some issues with folks not cleaning up after themselves in minor ways but the smell of Lysol indicates regular cleaning. My kids loved the pool. RACIAL DISCRIMINATION, INTIMIDATION, FRIGHTENING KIDS & UNCLEAN CAMPGROUND…read more One of the worst campground experiences our family has ever had. I am writing this review to warn other families before they spend their money here. We experienced what felt very clearly like racially discriminatory treatment. Our children were riding scooters when they were stopped and told they were not allowed to ride. Our 14-year-old was specifically stopped, yet we could clearly see much younger white children riding around the campground. If scooters were prohibited, the rule should have been enforced equally. What was even more upsetting was how our children were spoken to. They came running back to us scared and intimidated. As parents, watching your children come back frightened because of how an adult treated them is completely unacceptable. We also had a simple check-in misunderstanding. We went to our campsite before going to the office because we genuinely did not know that every guest had to check in first. Instead of simply explaining the rule, we were treated as though we had deliberately done something wrong. From there, the treatment became increasingly hostile, and we felt like the staff was looking for reasons to push our family out. The difference between how our family was treated and what we witnessed with white campers was impossible for us to ignore. Based on our firsthand experience, we felt targeted because of our race. The campground itself was also unclean and poorly maintained, which made the experience even worse. We were additionally forced to pay cash and were not given a receipt, which was extremely concerning and unprofessional. We paid to camp and expected basic courtesy, consistent rules, and a welcoming environment for our children. Instead, our family left feeling targeted, intimidated, and unwelcome. Think very carefully before booking this campground. We would not recommend it to families or anyone who expects to be treated fairly and equally.
