It is a very nice waterside park with a large playground area for kids, a covered picnic area and of course the area with a walkway along the water with a few covered gazebo areas. There is substantial parking and lots of places to sit. We did not use the restroom facilities but nice to know they are there.

The boardwalk is best suited for picnicking and a short walk. The bigger attraction is of course the beaches and horses one island over, but some time spent here is not amiss. It's a smaller State park and slightly confusing with the direction's but the staff was helpful just get a map. We camped in a "walk back" section of E. Very spacious sites with the bathroom/shower reasonably close. Parking was "ok"..... but they fill up and then you have to use overflow. The bathrooms/showers were clean BUT I guess I'm used to sites that spray repellent because nature is boss. We drove through the comfort sites of D and they were too tight for my liking. They have yurts and cabins but for me a tad too close. They do have an Island camp site Loved it!!!!! That's a must do. It's 2 sites across a short walking bridge with water view and access. I would definitely go back.

One thing I don't understand is why the Park Maintenance people don't cut the Wisteria growth on the trees? Some trees have vines over two inches in diameter. I have stayed in the Heron and Deer Run camp loops and have nothing to complain about. The camp store where I registered my group went smoothly and the staff was friendly and comprehensive in ensuring we knew the rules and information about the park. The camp store also sells their local wood bags for $6.00. I highly recommend buying ice cream as they scoop generously at a reasonable price. Their late check-in process is simple as well as they'll have your car placard outside for you to grab with your name on it if you reserved it online ahead of time. There's plenty of things to do around if you know what to look for! If you're camping during the summer, you can enjoy a kayak or canoe rental near the camp store. You can also visit the nature center, walk the trails around, or go fishing - plenty of things to do! All in all, I would return - but would try out water's edge loop. I didn't realize it was so close to the Camp Store's showers and toilets. Highly recommend this place!

Views are stunning, boat staff helpful too! The hosts on Loop C very friendly. Guests need to remember to keep their dogs on leash (even if emotional support pets or small), and quiet hours start 10pm. Most people come to enjoy the quiet nature here.

Jane's Island seems to be known primarily for the camping possibilities. The camping sites, both for tents and cabins, are pretty full during the season. Has a loyal following. Reserve early. Also, fishing is all the rage here. I saw many people fishing from the banks of the water and from kayaks, etc. However, biking possibilities are only average. Hiking is about the same. Crisfield gets a fair number of storms, had a bunch during our visit, and it can affect the grounds, but the area dries out pretty quickly.

The ones in H loop are really squeezed in and have less space and no privacy. It's hard to book a site, and so frustrating to see empty sites that have been booked but not used. The bathrooms are some of the cleanest camping bathrooms I've ever seen. They're pretty well maintained. The horses do wander free, and you need to be careful with food on your site, as explained by the park rangers. But it's fun to see them and watch them. The camp hosts are good about cleaning and maintaining the area they're each in charge of. The beaches are nice and it's fun to go clamming out in the bay. A very quick drive will take you to Ocean City, to the boardwalk, to go karts, Walmart, Wawa, the movie theater, etc. Lots close by to do if you get caught there on a rainy day. Lovely place to visit.

Assateague is so cool!... Particularly on a breezy day when the flies can't takeoff…read more During a trip to Ocean City, we visited Assateague on the Maryland end. I was so eager to see the horses I heard about, but weary we might not see any. Maybe we were lucky, because we saw sooo many horses! On the road, in the parking lots, in marshes, wandering, grazing, standing on front of cars. So cute! Stop at the visitors center first. Very nice place, helpful information, exhibits, a touch tank, bathrooms, gift shop and then you'll be on your way. Admission per vehicle gets you access for a week. We loved spending a few hours here so much that we came back a second day. The beaches are clean and not crowded. Lots of dogs, so be warned if you're averse. The marsh trail was really cool. We saw several small fishies, pipefish, crabs, egrets, just really cool to look in the water throughout the trail and observe. Bayside beaches are hidden spots for isolated swims. I saw a family here and there just swimming completely alone. The forest trail was also a good one to walk. More interesting nature. We weren't too crazy about the dune trail. Although, it was interesting to see the old abandoned road in the middle of the dune. Horses here there and everywhere, almost. Overall, such a fun place to visit. Go for a few hours or spend the day. Remember, ensure it's breezy and you'll be almost completely fly free.

This place is a true gem. I'm not one for driving into places I'm not sure of. It was foggy earlier…read morein the morning, so we got freaked out and turned around. Lol. But we came back in the afternoon and drove to the end and loved it. There was this serene feeling driving through seeing the horses, birds, and wildlife. It's a $10 fee if you go during operating hours. There are several trails, places to pull over for pics, and the beach back here. The marsh is so pretty. It was a beautiful sunset and just a vibe for me and my family. We ooooohh'd and ahhh'd the whole drive. I liked that we went later in the afternoon because it wasn't as crowded and parking was easy to find. The beach is literally just steps away from the parking lot. The beach is pretty big. It's wide open, no houses or buildings, just beautiful water and brown sand!!! I had a fantastic time. I highly recommend this if you visit the area. If you drive past the McDonald's and keep driving until the end, it's a straight shot. Definitely check this place out!!!

For the past few years, we've traveled to Ocean City, Maryland and arrive on Sundays. Our Sunday…read moreitinerary always consists of coming to this park for their "Sundeas in the park ". There is street parking or a lot parking available. I do recall one year due to the Marlin tournament. Parking was difficult and we did park a few blocks away. Overall the walk was not bad and it was well worth it. I recommend bringing chairs or a blanket. If you plan to stay a while. On Sundays, they have a live band, ice cream for purchase, a playground, pond, and lots of open grass for family and friends to enjoy. Everyone's favorite part is the Sunday fireworks show. The show is great! We will continue to add this park to our Sunday fun day while in Ocean City.
