In August I rented a 6x12 floating mat for a week in Lewis Beach. I called them and reserved a mat to be delivered on a Sunday morning and picked up the following Friday. Per their web page the weekly rental was listed as $350. The reservation and delivery address was done over the phone. The mat was delivered on time. There were no issues with the rental until I noticed that my charge card was charged $500. Upon questioning why the price was $500. They told me that the web page was in error, the price had increased, and the web page was being updated. (Yes my error, I never confirmed with them that the price was as documented in their webpage) It is now almost 3 months later and their webpage still indicates a price of $350 for a week rental of a 6x12 mat. If you must do business with them be careful of getting the price in writing before agreeing to anything. read more

I'm going to be telling this story to anyone who will listen for years. Most people don't want to read a super long review, so here is the headline: We kayaked 8 miles because of bad directions, but otherwise had a good experience. My friends and I decided to go kayaking and looked into our options in the area. Quest definitely had the very best prices. It was $25 per kayak for a 2 hour rental. I called to get some information and decided with the person I spoke to that a nice, light kayak down Canary Creek would be good for my group. When we arrived at the main location on Savannah Rd, a couple of boys who looked like they could have been extras on Outer Banks had already loaded the kayaks onto a truck and were ready to drive us to the spot to put in at. They confirmed that we all knew how to kayak and helped us get the boats into the water. Here is where I had to knock off a couple of stars. They gave us directions that weren't complete. They told us about a bridge to go under and where we should stay out of the way of motor boats and other pieces of information that were probably accurate. We never got that far. They told us to follow the river and not to take any offshoots, making it sound like there were no major forks to navigate. We came to a fork in the river where both options were equally wide, but one seemed like the more natural flow of the river as it gently bent left, while the other meant taking a hard right. We should have taken the right. About an hour into kayaking, we hadn't passed a single one of the landmarks from our directions and we started to feel like something was wrong. However, we were in the middle of a marsh. The closest thing to civilization that we had seen was a wind turbine that we kept zigzagging past. So, we hoped for the best and pressed on. Now is the point to mention that the kayaks at Quest are sit-on-top kayaks and as such do not have a secure compartment for a dry bag like you would find in a normal kayak. This meant that none of us wanted to risk our phones getting destroyed on the water and, since we thought it would be such a straight forward route, did not bring them with us. We ultimately ended up in the canal and found a public boat ramp. We pulled the kayaks into the parking lot and hitched a ride back with a couple that were coming in from the water. When we made it back to our car, I had one, very unconcerned, message on my phone that had been left when we were an hour and a half late in returning the kayaks. I wonder, at what point they would have considered us properly lost and gone searching? I was sunburned and woke up the next morning to sore arms, but I did ultimately have a good time and ended up with a much better story to tell. read more

We did a kayak tour near Dewey Beach DE and it was amazing. Our guide was Jeff and he was very kind and insightful about kayaking and the local knowledge of sights along the tour. Our son 8 y/o was also impressed by Jeff, not just us grown ups :) it truly was a memorable experience that we recommend highly, so glad we decided to book a sunset kayak tour with Jeff!!! read more

We rented 3 kayaks for the week. They were delivered to the vacation house ahead of our arrival and all of the equipment was in great shape. Matt offered to provide tide info via text which we took him up on almost daily! He also gave us a great rate on 3 boats which was unexpected but greatly appreciated. The boats were picked up as scheduled at the end of the week. We had a great time kayaking the bay and the Broadkill river but the highlight was a 3 hour loop through Canary creek, Old Mill creek and the Broadkill thanks to a local friend (we would not have navigated it on our own). I highly recommend Quest and would definitely rent from them again. read more

Quest Adventures - Canary Creek - Rafting/Kayaking Near Me - Lewes, Delaware

We had 2 different experiences with Quest. The first was great as the tandem kayak we requested was delivered to us clean, with great explanation and in a timely manner. Unfortunately the second time we had to call the office to ask when the kayak may be showing up that we had scheduled the day before (seemed like they may have forgotten to write our reservation down). And then when it was delivered it was totally covered with sand ( and this was first thing in the morning). The explanation given was that because it stormed the night before, and the way the kayaks get 'stacked', causes them to get dirty...no offer to help get it cleaned out/off. Can't say it will deter us from trying them out again when were back in Lewes but was not totally satisfied with that second experience. read more

This review is for the Pints & Paddles Tour (didn't see any other reviews and thought this was deserving of 5 stars!) through Quest. Stumbled across the Pints & Paddles through the Dogfish Head website and thought: "this sounds like an awesome Father's Day activity", ran it by my stepmother who immediately wrote back with an excited YES! Your dad will love this. So I called up, spoke to Matt and he sold me on the tour immediately. A week and a half later, on one of the hottest days of summer thus far, we were lathered up in our SPF 70, hydrated with water and were ready for our adventure. It was just the four of us, plus Matt, on the tour. He managed to get us into the water without anyone falling in and gave us a peaceful paddle down the Broadkill River pointing out lazy turtles sunning themselves, a few blue herons and a tree where bald eagles are known to nest. The paddle was pretty easy, and despite the heat, we all managed it pretty well (with the exception of me, who is apparently more out of shape than my 60-something year old family members.. yikes!). Then we clambered back into the van and headed over to DFH Brewery. Awesome tour (maybe I'll write a separate review over on their Yelp), excellent tastings and made me appreciate one of my favorite craft brewers even more than I already do. Anyway, thanks again Matt (and Dogfish!) for an awesome afternoon and great memory for my vacation... looking forward to heading back to another adventure on our next family vacation to Delaware. read more

The service here was incredible. I was coming in a bit before the season, but Matt was happy to accommodate. He was flexible with our schedule up until the day-of and was incredibly communicative about the conditions of the water and the weather. He asked us about our experience kayaking and what we were looking for to get an idea of the best route for us. He dropped us off in a great location, gave us directions, and told us a couple of points where we could paddle to shore and give him a call to pick us up. He did not rush us and also made sure we were safe. Sure enough, we brought the kayaks onto the beach and he was in the parking lot and running(!) to get the kayaks from us minutes after we called him. Have recommended to others and would definitely recommend again. Great quality kayaks and wonderfully responsive staff. read more

We rented two chairs and an umbrella from their fishing pier location in cape henlopen. friendly and helpful staff. Used a $5 coupon from our hotel that helped. Even helped load the stuff into our car. Unfortunately we didn't experience delivery service like I read in other reviews or I'd give 5 stars. Was really hoping they would deliver because it was a far haul to the beach! Very high quality wooden equipment but heavy. read more

Very disappointed in Quest Adventures. Our family was planning on having one last adventure on the water before returning home from our vacation but were not able to do so. I spent time looking at their website to make sure we wouldn't need to make a reservation since it is off season. Their website clearly says they rent until September 30th, and starting in October you would need to make a reservation so I didn't think I would need to call. I went up to the stand and asked if our family could rent a few kayaks for the morning and was told that we needed a reservation because it is after Labor Day and they were understaffed. I would have been ok with the misinformation on the website, and the excuse, but there were three young men "working" at this stand that were comfortably lounging and on their cell phones that did not appear to busy at all. I'm not sure what the staffing issue is, but they were quite dismissive and went back to lounging on their phones because their boss told them after Labor Day everyone needs a reservation. I'm sure their boats are fine, but customer service is certainly lacking - we will rent elsewhere in the future for sure. read more

We utilized his service on Friday to rent Kayaks and also booked a Bon Fire and Torches set up for Saturday at sunset on Lewes Beach. Did a mid-week 360 Dogfish Head package through the Inn at Canal Square. The package included a morning ocean kayak trip with Quest Fitness & Kayak. Matt, the owner of Quest, picked us up at the Inn. He was prepared with all three ocean kayak boats, safety vests, etc. The kayak trip started in Cape Henelopen State Park. We had an amazing morning! We hadn't done a lot of kayaking, and no ocean kayaking. Matt was very reassuring, and provided basic instruction. It ended up being one of the highlights of our mid-week getaway in Lewes, DE. We would highly recommend Matt and Quest Kayak tours/rentals. Matt was very personable, easy going and knowledgeable. Definitely would do this again!! read more

My family and I were staying in Lewes for a few weeks and on 2 occasions we rented a stand up paddleboard from Quest. They are so nice and helpful, delivered right to our beach chairs and picked up too. I would definitely rent boards from them again. read more
